Peacock Launch Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Peacock is going to be NBCUniversal’s take on Netflix. I know you are all thinking the same thing I am. Why do we need ANOTHER streaming service. The whole reason people started leaving cable for streaming was because of how expensive cable has become. Now NBC, Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, AppleTV+, Amazon Prime and I know there are more. Why do we need all of these different streams that end up costing more than cable? Are the different companies banding together to push people back to regular television? Now while I do not plan to indulge NBCUniversal and subscribe to Peacock I am sad there won’t be a big launch party for the streaming platform. The streamer will have content from all the best of the NBCUniversal family including from NBC, Bravo, E!, as well as movies produced by Universal. It will also include original series created by some of the favorite names in the NBCUniversal family. Now while there isn’t a big launch party planned ahead of the streaming services July 15, 2020 launch date I’m making wishes as if there would have been and if it had been a major gala red carpet event like the AppleTV+ launch. So let’s get on into it shall we? Amy Poehler will not only have her hit comedy series Park & Recreation, for which she won a Golden Globe Award for her performance, streaming on Peacock; but she is also producing Division One, a coming-of-age original comedy series about an underdog women’s collegiate soccer team for the service as well. So I would definitely imagine that had there been a launch party for Peacock that Amy would have been on the red carpet. Now when it comes to fashion I am not usually expecting Amy to push the envelope of fashion. She loves pantsuits for the red carpet, usually your standard black tuxedo cuts. So I started looking for a cool suit look for her to wear on the red carpet. That is when I saw this aqua blue Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2020 suit which features a blazer with big bell cuff sleeves, a pair of straight leg pants, and an aqua silk charmuse blouse with a fuchsia pink scarf. The color is definitely a lot bolder than we are used to seeing from Amy, but the look really spoke to me for her. It is super cool and I definitely think it would have been a personal best for Amy in terms of her red carpet style. Now since the suit is such a bold statement all on it’s own I would just style it with a loose updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and a pair of hot pink Stuart Weitzman ‘Anny 95’ pointed toe suede pumps to really make sure this look is envelope pushing, yet still within Amy’s comfort zone for red carpet looks. Emmy Rossum is always one of my favorite’s to see on the red carpet. So when I saw that she is staring in Angelyne, a limited drama series from her husband and producer Sam Esmail based on the true story about a surgically enhanced LA pop-culture icon in the 1980’s, I was really looking forward to seeing what she would bring to the red carpet. I went for DRAMA picking this two tone pink Azzi & Osta Spring 2020 Couture strapless jumpsuit which features a corseted satin bodice, asymmetrical pleated peplum on one hip, slim crepe ankle length pants, delicate floral embroidery, and a dramatic tulle train. In all reality I wouldn’t have expected this event to be a big couture look worthy event, but since it has become about fantasy I went for super fantastical wishes. This look definitely something I think that Emmy would bring to life with effortless ease. A sleek updo, defined eyes, punchy pink lips, a pair of raspberry pink Giuseppe Zanotti strappy slingback sandals, and a selection of dazzling Kwiat jewels including ‘American Beauty’ 8-stone white diamond cluster earrings and a matching ‘American Beauty’ round, marquise, & pear shaped white diamond necklace would definitely have made this a major high drama glamour moment for Emmy. Clean Slate, starring Laverne Cox as a trans woman who returns to Alabama and reunites with her estranged father after 17 years, produced by legendary producer Norman Lear is also set to be one of the original comedy series added to Peacock. I have long loved seeing Laverne on the red carpet. Over the last year though she has gone from dramatic glamour to this trashy edgy vibe that I’m just not feeling. I know that Laverne has the potential to bring the dramatic glamour to the red carpet. So I decided to pick this super glamorous black velvet Christian Siriano Fall 2020 RTW one sleeve draped gown which features a daring side split. It is super glamorous but maintains a lot of sex appeal. I think that is the perfect vibe for Laverne to rock on the red carpet for this premiere. I would have really loved to see this gown styled with a sleek high ponytail, smokey eyes, dark ruby red glossy lips, a rainbow crystal Judith Leiber Couture ‘Disc Lollipop’ tassel detailed minaudiere, black leather Christian Louboutin ‘Cathy 150’ peep toe ankle strap platform sandals, and a selection of Nikos Koulis jewels including a pair of ‘Energy’ collection white diamond fringe hoop earrings and a ‘V’ collection white diamond cuff bracelet. Law & Order: SVU is easily the most successful NBC series ever. It is now in its 24th season. Mariska Hargitay has been a part of the series since the beginning. So since the show will be added to Peacock I would have definitely loved to see Mariska on the red carpet. We don’t see her make the red carpet rounds very often, so I would have definitely loved to see her on the red carpet at the launch of the streaming service. I went to the virtual racks of Bergdorf Goodman to find the perfect gown for Mariska since she isn’t one who rocks runways looks. When I saw this navy blue Zac Posen off-the-shoulder taffeta mermaid gown I knew it was a perfect choice. I am super sad that Zac has closed up shop on his label and that we have most likely seen the last days of the label on the red carpet. This gown is available through Bergdorf’s sale at 40% off, and I really do think that it would have been super glamorous on Mariska especially styled with a soft retro glam updo, defined eyes, blush pink glossy lips, a navy satin Judith Leiber Couture crystal embellished rectangle clutch, a pair of navy glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Romy 85’ pointed toe pumps, and Amwaj jewels including multi-cut white diamond collar necklace with a pendant drop and a white diamond solitaire and marquis cut cocktail ring. Rounding out today is a super glam look for Tina Fey. Like Amy not only is Tina’s hit NBC comedy 30 Rock being added to Peacock, but she is also creating original content. The original that Tina is creating for Peacock is called Girls5Eva and is about a one-hit-wonder girl group from the ’90s that reunites for one more shot at stardom. So I would have loved to see Tina give us sophisticated elegance wearing this black Erdem Fall 2020 RTW ‘Adalyn’ a-line 3D floral jacquard midi gown which features thin straps. It is such a chic and elegant dress. A classic with a twist. That tends to be the perfect look for Tina. I would have loved to see her bring this midi gown to life on the red carpet styled with a sleek updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a black satin Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, a pair of black satin Jimmy Choo ‘Love 100’ pointed toe pumps embellished with white and green crystals and faux pearls, and Kwiat ‘Legacy’ collection art deco inspired emerald cut white diamond and calibre emerald pendant drop earrings.

The Peacock streaming service will drop on July 15, 2020.
