I was praying for a major promo tour for Liu Yifei, but since her appearance at the D23 Expo to promote the film was cancelled last year, and international fears of Coronavirus I just feel like the universe is conspiring against this film and cast. Liu has had friends at major fashion houses including Christian Dior and Zuhair Murad Couture, and that has me exited to see what she will bring to the red carpet at the LA premiere if Mulan. Instead of going to Dior, whom has dressed Liu for most of her past major red carpet appearances, I instead decided to go with a gown from the king of embellishment Elie Saab. I have been thinking about gowns from this Chinese inspired collection for Liu since it first walked the runway at Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week back in July 2019. This light blue Elie Saab Fall 2019 Couture caped gown which features intricate gold crystal embroidery, a high collar, a-line skirt, and a wide velvet and gold metal belt screams glamour and elegance with a hint to Chinese legacy. I really do think that this major princess moment would catapult Liu to red carpet stardom in the Hollywood arena.
