The prankish sensibilities of French filmmaker Quentin Dupieux have screened several times over the years in Cannes proving that he has no shortage of outrageous ideas, and the wherewithal to pull them off. Cannes would have been a natural platform for his latest bizarre cinematic adventure Mandibules, which has the sort of ludicrous premise that only Dupieux could envision: It’s the story of two friends who discover a fly trapped in a car boot and train it to do tricks for easy money. It doesn’t have a big fashion cast, but I would have loved to see this premiere have the effortless French glamour sensibilities filled with many spokesmodels bringing a lot of extra glamour to the red carpet in Cannes. Adele Exarchopoulos was launched to French film fame in Cannes with her film Blue Is The Warmest Color. Since then we have seen Adele in Cannes promoting several projects and I was interested to see what she would have brought to the festival to promote Mandibules at this years festival. I went uber French glam for the perfect effortless moment for the films photocall picking this Patou Fall 2020 RTW ensemble which features a black silk puffy sleeved blouse and a pair of high waisted cropped jeans. Typically I would consider this more of a street style look or an influencer fashion moment waiting to happen, but when I thought of Adele wearing this gown in Cannes I knew it would be that perfect effortlessly dramatic French casual glam moment I am craving. Style this gown with a sleek high ponytail, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of hot pink suede and silver glitter Miu Miu peep toe thick heel pumps to add a dose of color and sparkle and it would be perfection. For the premiere I again went for dramatic simplicity picking this blueish grey Valentino Spring 2020 Couture gown which features a v-neck tank top style bodice, contrast lined peplum, red sash, soft a-line wrap style skirt, center split, and a sweeping train. The look is simple and elegant, but super glam and I think that Adele would ensure the look screams effortless glamour styling it with a sleek updo, soft smokey eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a pair of silver metallic leather strappy Roger Vivier ankle strap sandals, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection aquamarine sapphire geometric lace drop earrings. Bella Hadid has been heading to Cannes promoting labels she has contracts with, Dior and Bulgari. Every year since 2016 she has ventured to the French Riviera and walked the red carpet twice. One look is always in Dior since Bella is a face of Dior Beauty. So I went on the hunt for the perfect glamour moment for her to bring to life on the red carpet. I am obsessed with this black feathered Christian Dior Fall 2019 Couture ball gown which features an embroidered tulle sweetheart neckline bustier and a single one shoulder tulle strap. I’ve already picked one star to wear this gown in Cannes, but I really think that Bella would make it the perfect edgy meets glamorous moment on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. So I think that styling this look in a glam manner with a sleek retro updo, smokey eyes, red lips, black leather Christian Louboutin ‘Very Cathy’ ankle strap platform peep toe sandals, and a pair of dazzling white diamond Bulgari cluster earrings with an emerald drops would ensure this look is perfection from head to toe. Celine Dion was announced as a face of L’Oreal Paris last year and when the announcement happened I got really excited. She has become one of my favorite fashionistas and I was immediately ready to see her bring dramatic glamour to the festivals red carpet. So I was really hoping to see her jet to Cannes this year. One of the looks I would love to see her bring to life this year was this champagne gold Elie Saab Spring 2020 Couture column gown which features puffy shoulders, long sleeves, a plunging v-neckline, belted waist, an asymmetrical ruffled detail on her waist, and a superb hip high split. It would be that superb glamorous moment that I think Celine would bring the moment to life in Cannes. Styled perfectly I know that while Celine could give the biggest gowns on the red carpet that this could be a superb head to toe glamour moment. So I would style this gown for Celine with a sleek side parted bouffant updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of champagne gold Christian Louboutin ‘Labella’ glittered leather and mesh crystal embellished strappy peep toe pumps, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection yellow teardrop waterfall chandelier earrings to ensure Celine delivers nothing but glamour. This purple pleated jersey Roberto Cavalli Couture gown which features a plunging neckline, silver crystal embellishments trimming the bodice and on the hips, and a sweeping train is my second wish for Emily Ratajkowski to wear on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival. It is another slinky hyper sensual gown for Emily to wear on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet. That is the type of look that Emily is able to deliver with ease on the red carpet. I actually had thought of Emily as the perfect person to bring this look to life on the red carpet and I know that she would make it work. Sleek old Hollywood waves worn over one shoulder, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of purple satin Alevì Milano gem embellished ankle strap sandals, and a selection of de Grisogono jewels including amethyst pendant drop earrings and a statement white diamond cuff bracelet would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Fan Bingbing has been a Queen of Cannes for almost a decade showing up on the festivals red carpets every year for one reason or another. She was catapulted to fashion fame thanks to the festival when she was a L’Orealista. She has subsequently left the beauty label, did a couple turns for Chopard, and was a juror. I don’t know what would bring Fan to the festival this year, but I wanted to see her bring the glamour to the festival anyway. So for this look I went for DRAMA picking this aquamarine Georges Chakra Spring 2020 Couture ballgown which features huge short puffy princess sleeves, a sheer leaf embroidered bodice, a ball skirt with a thigh high split, and a sweeping train. There are not many who would be able to sell this gown to me on the red carpet. Fan would wear it with effortless ease. Style it with a sleek bun updo, defined eyes, red lips, a silver Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ snakeskin crystal clasp clutch, a pair of silver crystal embellished Rene Caovilla bow detail cross strap sandals, and a pair of statement David Morris ‘Orecchini Opali’ aquamarine, paraiba tourmaline, white diamond, and black opal drop earrings and Fan would ensure that this look is a major Cannes red carpet moment. I didn’t realize it until I started writing this wish that I had picked two Atelier Versace moments for Marion Cotillard to wear in Cannes had she gone there to promote Chopard. It is a little ironic since she is the face of Chanel, but out of 4 looks I’ve picked for her to wear for this years festival only 1 came from Chanel. I thought about picking another look from the label for Marion, but I LOVED the idea of seeing her wear this red Atelier Versace Spring 1990 Couture column gown which features a bustier bodice with a sculpted embellished asymmetrical neckline. So much so that before I had even put this image together I already knew exactly how I was going to style it. A sleek retro updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of ruby red crystal embellished Gianvito Rossi ‘Glam’ satin ankle strap sandals, and a statement white diamond and ruby Chopard Red Carpet Collection 2019 three row collar necklace all came to mind when I pictured Marion wearing this gown and it would definitely make for a statement ensemble that is both edgy and glam.
