2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 25

This set of Met Gala wishes is two major cape moments and three simple yet glamorous moments. I typically have a philosophy that is always go big or go home. But I also know that isn’t something that works for everyone. Some people prefer simplicity. When simplicity is done to perfection it can still deliver a Best Dressed of the Year worthy moment and make me fall in love more than even the biggest of gowns. I feel like this year’s Met Gala theme of “About Time: Fashion and Duration” will see a lot of perfectly done simple and timeless moments on the red carpet. So I cannot wait to see what this red carpet will bring. I realized as I came to the close of my first round of wishes for this years Met Gala that I had picked no looks from Mary Katrantzou to wear on the red carpet. I knew that had to change. So while this is my second Mary Katrantzou wish posted it was actually the first look I picked. I was thinking about who could really be a great ambassador for the brand and which gown I wanted to see most. Enter this Mary Katrantzou Spring 2020 RTW ‘Stellar’ gown floor length hooded cape with a train and trapeze gown in custom woven antiqued gold sunbeam jacquard, hand embroidered with zodiac symbols, constellations, and heavenly bodies in beads and Swarovski crystals. I have wanted to see this look on Cate Blanchett since it was first sent down the runway at the Temple of Poseidon. She actually wore a the look that came down the runway right before this gown for the Golden Globe Awards earlier this year. I think this look brings the drama to the red carpet while also embracing the idea of time as seen through the stars. It would be great to see Cate wear this gown for just her THIRD ever Met Gala appearance. Honestly it shocks me that Cate has only walked the famed Met steps twice before, and this look would definitely make sure she captivates. A sleek updo, smokey eyes, dark antique rose pink lips, a pair of gold Malone Souliers ‘Lauren’ crystal embellished satin platform ankle strap sandals, and yellow fancy colored gemstone and white diamond Cartier High Jewelry Magnitude high jewelry collection ‘Yuma’ earrings would definitely put this look together in the most glamorous manner possible.
Supermodel Gisele Bundchen has been walking the Met Gala red carpet for years. She always brings something super glam, but I feel like she doesn’t really ever stick to the theme. Now with the theme of “About Time: Fashion and Duration” I really want to see Gisele deliver a superb timeless moment that will ft the theme perfectly. I turned back to the same designer that dressed Gisele last year, Christian Dior, to find the perfect gown for her to wear on this years red carpet. Gisele is the face of Dior Beauty’s Spring 2020 “Capture Total” campaign so it wouldn’t surprise me to see her wearing the label on the red carpet again this year. This white knot draped Christian Dior Spring 2020 Couture column gown which features an asymmetrical neckline, a wrap style skirt, and a side split screams glamour on the red carpet and I believe that Gisele could definitely sell this look to me with ease. I want the look to scream classic glam so I would want to see her style the look with a sleek side parted beehive inspired updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of white Jimmy Choo ‘Dochas’ jeweled leather ankle strap sandals, and dazzling Chopard Red Carpet Collection white diamond and emerald chandelier earrings. Having hubby Tom Brady wearing a silver jacquard Tom Ford ‘Atticus’ tuxedo jacket on her arm as some man-candy would definitely up the game too. I’ve talked about how I don’t really pick people I want to see on the Met Gala red carpet first, but instead designers. Well that is not the case here. I learned who Jordan Roth was back in 2018 when I saw photos of him on the red carpet at the Met Gala wearing a custom Givenchy Couture ensemble. I found him on Instagram and followed immediately. He has become one of my personal style icons. He isn’t afraid to express himself and take fashion risks. He is the embodiment of my personal motto of “When in doubt be extra.” I mean last year he decided to wear an entire theater on a custom caped Iris Van Herpen Couture moment.  So I knew I needed to make sure he was featured in these wishes and that it was super dramatic. I saw this baby and raspberry pink bow covered Valentino Haute Couture Beijing 2019 Couture collection and I knew that I had down the look. Jordan would definitely be able to sell this look to me on the red carpet. He would rock it with the strawberry red velvet long sleeve gown it was paired with on the runway. He isn’t afraid to blur gender lines. Seeing Jordan wearing this ensemble on the Met Gala red carpet with a pair of red Christian Louboutin ‘Turela’ suede ankle boots, a chic updo, smokey eyes, and Harry Winston jewels including a ruby and diamond floral cluster necklace and a statement ruby and diamond wreath cuff bracelet would definitely make me really excited about what #WhatIsJordanWearing! Now we are back to looks picking the wearer and not the other way around. If we Laura Harrier on the red carpet at the 2020 Met Gala it will most likely be in Louis Vuitton. She has worn the labels the last two year, but neither look was worthy of this storied red carpet. That being said, I was looking at this black velvet Prabal Gurung Fall 2020 RTW one shoulder draped gown which features a could shoulder detail, hip cutout, a hip high split, a dramatic train, and crystal embellishments and I imagined the look on Laura and was sold. I am not a huge fan of Laura the LV ambassador, but when she steps outside of the label I usually fall in love with her looks on the red carpet. I would love to see Laura give us sexy glamour on the red carpet at this year Met Gala wearing this gown. Now while I stepped outside of LV for the gown I decided to pair this look with a black Louis Vuitton ‘Capucines Mini Capucines’ crystal embellished top handle evening bag to make sure the brand is still represented. Now on top of her LV ambassadorship Laura is also an ambassador for Bulgari so I picked some major jewels for her to pair with this gown including a pair of white diamond, black enamel, and emerald drop earrings and a white diamond ‘Serpenti’ cuff bracelet. Finishing the look with A sleek 60’s inspired updo, winged eyes, red lips, and black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Miria’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals would definitely make sure this is Laura’s best Met Gala moment ever. When it comes to looking at the Fall 2020 RTW collections I am always looking at them through the lens of “what will work for the Met Gala red carpet?” Now Donatella Versace sent a couple of gowns down the runway for Versace Fall 2020 RTW, but none really screamed Met Gala to me. BUT this silver chainmail bustier mini dress with a crustal beaded tube curved neckline (a detail inspired by Gianni Versace Atelier Fall 1997 Couture) did. I immediately saw this dress being lengthened into a floor length column gown on Reese Witherspoon. Reese would definitely be able to show us how simplistic classic glam done perfectly could be amazing. I know that this gown fitted perfectly to Reese’s figure would be a major statement especially if styled with a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, bold red lips, a pair of silver Gianvito Rossi ‘Glam’ crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and a selection of Tiffany & Co. jewels including teardrop earrings in platinum with tanzanites and diamonds, a vintage art deco white diamond bracelet, and a vintage white diamond and sapphire art deco bracelet.
