2020 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 19

I get asked a lot when I am posting my Met Gala wishes how I know who is going. The short answer is I don’t. Until the evening before the event, the guest list is top secret. But some of the biggest names in the business regularly attend and more often than not, designers attend with their muses such as Marc Jacobs and Kate Moss, and Nicolas Ghesquière and Emma Stone. So when I look at who I would like to see on this red carpet I start by looking at the ensembles I would like to see on the red carpet and then I start to look at who the label has had on their front rows, who they have invited to events, and who has been wearing looks from the label om the red carpet. Sometimes I just see a certain person in the look and I run with it. So basically these wishes are just a hodgepodge of my creativity, and I have a lot of it to get through. Betty Gilpin has never walked the Met Gala red carpet, but she definitely popped into my mind when I was thinking of who could wear this super feminine hot pink Jason Wu Fall 2020 embellished georgette sleeveless midi dress which features a slim fit, column silhouette, embellished abstract ruffle detail at chest and waist, v-cut neckline. The dress would definitely need to be lengthened into a floor length gown with a bit of a train trailing behind it. Betty came into my mind to wear this dress because she wore a custom Jason Wu gown for the 2019 Emmy Awards. The gown is a little louder than most of my other Met Gala wishes as they have been very muted, neutral, classic, or metallic. The bright pink is definitely something that would help make sure that Betty stands out. Hair is almost always a point of contention for me when it comes to the looks that Betty has ever worn on the red carpet. I don’t want to totally change her, but a romantic updo that doesn’t just have a home blow dry vibe would definitely be perfect for this look. That hair with the customized gown adding a defined eye, soft nude pink glossy lips, a hot pink Jeffrey Levinson ‘Elina Plus Electric’ coated aluminum clutch, a pair of simple yet glamorous platinum glittered Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistsong’ sandals, and a selection of Niwika jewels including floral ‘Hnayuki’ white diamond drop earrings and a statement ‘Hanaguruma’ white diamond cuff bracelet would definitely make for a superb moment for Betty to wear for her Met Gala red carpet debut.  Emmy Rossum has been noticeably missing from the Met Gala red carpet the last two years. I have missed seeing her dramatic brand of feminine glamour on this red carpet. Over the years she has consistently shown major moments on the Met Gala red carpet. Emmy has worn some really beautiful gowns from J. Mendel on the red carpet in the past, but never on the Met Gala red carpet. So if she makes her return to the famed Met steps this year then I really want to see Emmy bring this antique rose pink J. Mendel Fall 2020 RTW tiered chiffon ballgown which features an A-line silhouette, strapless neckline, boned bodice, and a floral accent at front to life. I know this is the brand of glamour that Emmy does so well on the the red carpet. The gown as presented doesn’t have a train and I am going back and forth on whether or not I think that this gown should have one. I am leaning towards yes because of my craving for drama. Either way I would love to see Emmy style this gown with a romantic updo, soft smokey eyes, matching antique rose pink lips, a pair of matching rose pink Rene Caovilla ‘Raka’ crystal embellished metallic leather sandals, and a pair of dazzling Van Cleef & Arpels pink and white diamond fan drop earrings to really make this look scream feminine glamour from head to toe. Be it in Calvin Klein, Marchesa, or Zac Posen Katie Holmes has always worn dramatic moment for the Met Gala red carpet. She has not worn a non American based label on the red carpet in a really long time, so I am hoping to see her bring the drama to the 2020 Met Gala red carpet wearing this black marbled print sleeveless Fendi Fall 2019 Couture high waisted ballgown which features a ruffled high low hem, intricate 3D embroidery throughout, and a sweeping train. I LOVE this collection and after Katie was seated front row at the Fendi Spring 2020 RTW collection presentation last September I definitely think that she could easily bring the superb moody drama to the Met Gala red carpet. I think this look paired with a chic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of black Aquazzura ‘Tequila’ smoke crystal embellished slingback pointed toe pumps, and Harry Winston white diamond feather winged chandelier earrings would definitely make for the perfect moody glam moment for Katie to wear on this red carpet. Letitia Wright made her first, and so far only, Met Gala appearance back in 2018 as the guest of Coach. She has definitely proved her self to be the subtle fashionista since having been dressed by coveted labels including Armani Prive, Chanel, Stella McCartney, Christian Dior Couture, Erdem, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, and Prada. Honestly she has rocked the gambit of coveted labels. She could have her pick at who could dress her for the 2020 Met Gala red carpet, but instead of going to one of the expected labels I decided that this cream Rosie Assoulin Fall 2020 RTW 3d floral embroidered silk slip dress which features a squared neckline and a column silhouette would be a super chic moment for Letitia to bring to life. The gown itself is such a chic statement I do not believe that Letitia would want it to be modified. She isn’t one for big skirts and long trains so this super chic silhouette would be perfect for her to wear on this red carpet. It fits the theme perfectly. A chic coif, defined eyes, nude glossy lips, a latte cream Jimmy Choo ‘Bon Bon’ satin bucket back which features a gold ring handle and sequin drop embellishments, a pair of matching latte cream Jimmy Choo ‘Lovella’ lizard print leather strappy wraparound ankle strap sandals, and simple yet dazzling Hanut Singh ‘Winslets’ drop earrings made of prehnites, white diamonds, and black enamel would definitely be able to make this look a simple yet perfectly chic moment for Letitia to bring to life for the Met Gala. Ahead of her major promo tours for Joker, Seberg, and Lucy In The Sky last fall Zazie Beetz made her Met Gala debut delivering avant garde “CAMP” realness wearing a groom in the front bride in the back Thom Browne ensemble on the red carpet. It was definitely one of the more underrated looks of last years red carpet. Zazie isn’t afraid to take risks and give avant garde glamour on the red carpet. I will expect to see Zazie stay on top form and this black and aquamarine Maison Margiela Spring 2020 Couture ensemble which features an asymmetrically draped column gown and a dramatic voluminous opera coat would definitely ensure she does just that. I fell in love with this gown the moment I saw it. It isn’t an easy look to wear by any stretch of the imagination. It will take a starlet who has presence and edge and that is exactly what Zazie brings when she steps onto a red carpet. I think a chic curly updo, defined eyes, antique rose pink lips, a pair of black patent leather Gianvito Rossi asymmetric crystal strap platform sandals, and a selection of MAJOR diamonds from Yeprem including a pair of ‘Chevalier’ ear crawling winged feather drop earrings and a statement “Y-Conic’ hand crawling asymmetrical bracelet turned pinky ring would definitely ensure this look is major from head to toe.
