The 2019 Teen Choice Awards are just over a week away. Now every year I go back and forth on whether or not to cover the Teen Choice Awards. The red carpet falls right before we head into the fall film festival season and the Emmy Awards. I cannot tell you the last time I was blown away by a Teen Choice Awards red carpet, but if the stars who are nominated, presenting, and attending take my advice we could see the best Teen Choice Awards red carpet ever. I have definitely embraced my life motto #WhenInDoubtBeExtra when picking the looks I want to see stars bring to life on this red carpet next Sunday. Kicking off this list is Amandla Stenberg who is nominated for Choice Drama Movie Actress thanks to her performance in The Hate U Give. I have to say that I haven’t seen this movie yet, but it is definitely one that piqued my interest. It just came at the wrong time as I was trying to binge as many of the Golden Globe, SAG, and Oscar nominated movies as possible. I will say that she is in a really tough category, but I would love to see her bring her signature edgy glam to the red carpet. I decided to go with this voluminous white and black Alexandre Vauthier Fall 2019 Couture mini dress which features a high collar, button down bodice, voluminous puffy sleeves, and a mini length a-line skirt. It is just elevated enough to be a bold choice for the Teen Choice Awards, but I definitely think that it works for Amandla. I would continue being bold with the styling with voluminous tight curls, defined eyes, dark cherry red lips, a pair of white satin Jimmy Choo ‘Liz’ pointed toe pumps with crystals and fascinator feather, and Busatti ‘Japan’ white diamond marquis cut earcuffs to make this a major look for Amandla to bring the Teen Choice Awards red carpet. Kacey Musgraves has had a major year so far both in wins and in terms of style. She has delivered major looks from Giambattista Valli, Moschino, Valentino, and Christian Cowan this year alone and I am hoping that the rest of 2019 will see her bringing even more drama and glamour to the red carpet. She is definitely a unicorn when it comes to fashion. She loves very feminine and frothy looks on the red carpet, and I want to see her deliver something super feminine, flirty, and glamorous on the Teen Choice Awards red carpet. I saw this raspberry pink Georges Hobeika Fall 2019 Couture mini dress which features a dramatic plunging neckline, side split, and a dramatic bow on the hip which turns into a floor length sash and train and immediately knew it was the perfect dress for Kacey to wear on the Teen Choice Awards red carpet. I think that the feminine glamour of this dress paired with Kacey’s feminine nature would make this look perfect for the Teen Choice Awards red carpet especially if paired with a raspberry pink and teal glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Candy’ clutch, a sleek high ponytail, smokey eyes, soft blush pink lips, a pair of hot pink, rose pink, and wine red Jimmy Choo ‘Lilah’ strappy sandals, and simple Anabela Chan ‘Berry’ drop earrings made up of gold earring posts, hand-set with laboratory-grown and created gemstones including two pear cut sky blue topaz, two sugarloaf pink sapphires with prong and pave-set white diamonds leaving the two cabochon royal blue sapphire drops at home.Lana Condor is probably who I would call the favorite to take home the Teen Choice Award for Choice Drama Movie Actress thanks to her performance in the Netflix movie sensation To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before. I want to see Lana deliver something really chic and fun on this red carpet and I feel that this black, red, and pink floral print Pamella Roland Fall 2019 RTW ‘Mikoda’ silk blend mini dress which features a ruffled off-the-shoulder neckline and tiered skirt would do just that. I could see many stars getting lost in all the ruffles of this dress, but I think that Lana has this effortless elegance about her that would make this look come to life on the red carpet. The dress itself it such a statement I would keep the styling rather simplistic adding a sleek center parted hairstyle pinned behind the ears, defined eyes, rose pink lips, ballet pink Stuart Weitzman ‘Nudistsong’ glitter strap sandals, and a pair of Maxior ‘Art Deco’ white topaz, white diamond, and chocolate diamond stud earrings to really make this the perfect flirty and feminine moment for Lana to bring to life on this red carpet. Nina Dobrev has had a style evolution over the last two years. At the beginning of last year she left her long time stylist Ilaria Urbinati. She has definitely changed her style. It used to be all about Zuhair Murad and now she is wearing Dior, Zac Posen, and Louis Vuitton on the red carpet. She is currently working with stylist Kate Young and that makes me very intrigued to see what the two are cooking up for Nina to bring to life on the red carpet at the Teen Choice Awards next weekend where she is nominated for Choice Comedy TV Actress. I decided to go more fashion forward for Nina for this red carpet picking this white satin Brandon Maxwell Fall 2019 RTW racerback mini dress which features a halter neckline, an ivory cotton and silk blend belted waist, and a flared hem. Nina hasn’t worn Brandon Maxwell on a red carpet before, but I feel like this dress is a great choice for her to wear on this red carpet. It fits the relaxed and fun nature that we are used to seeing on the Teen Choice Awards red carpet, but also delivers that more sleek and grown up vibe that we have seen from Nina over the last two years. A sleek ponytail, defined winged eyes, bold red lips, a clear crushed ice effect L’Afshar ‘Classic’ clutch, a pair of gold metallic leather and clear PVC Christian Louboutin spike studded pointed toe pumps, and vintage 18k gold 1940’s spiked sunburst cluster earrings from Fred Leighton would definitely add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Nina. Finishing out today’s Teen Choice Awards wishes is Choice Sci-Fi/Fantasy Movie Actress nominee Sophie Turner. I go back and forth when it comes to Sophie’s style. She is another of Kate Young’s clients and she is a face of Louis Vuitton so I figure that she will once again be wearing the label on the red carpet. Now I decided to pick this Louis Vuitton Resort 2020 jumpsuit which features a silver beaded satin bustier, a pool blue velvet draped sleeves, belted waist, and high waisted stirrup pants I would leave the floral printed gloves from this look at home to make it more Teen Choice Awards red carpet friendly. I think styling is going to be the key to this look. It is such a complicated moment on its own that I would just finish this look with a sleek bun updo, smokey eyes, nude pink lips, and a pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Urban Twist’ silver cap toe pointed toe pumps to make sure that this look is the right balance of high fashion and laid back elegance for Sophie to wear on the Teen Choice Awards red carpet.
The 2019 Teen Choice Awards will take place on Sunday August 11, 2019.
