2019 San Diego Comic-Con Red Carpet Wish List Part 5

We are five days in and this is the first list that I can say with confidence I believe that everyone included will be seen at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con. To this point it was up in the air if Marvel Studios would be showcasing their upcoming projects at the convention or if Disney would be holding any major film announcements for the D23 Expo next month. Well it has been confirmed that Marvel will have the stage at Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con later this month so I am really excited to see what projects they bring and who will be on the panels. Before I get to the Marvel movie on today’s wishes I have a couple of other wishes to make first. The Walking Dead is slated to have its final panel at the San Diego Comic-Con. I have to say that I never got into this show, but I have gotten into Danai Gurira who started to build her a-list career thanks to this show. If it wasn’t for her role as Michonne in The Walking Dead we may never have seen her star rise as far as it has. So for the shows final panel in Hall H at the San Diego Comic-Con I want to see Danai bring her fashionista best to the stage which is why I picked this green and white striped Hellessy Resort 2020 ‘Verushka’ cold shoulder column dress which features a high neck, asymmetrical hem, and a navy silk covered belted waist. Hellessy, to me, defines cool girl chic and thus far only some of the coolest girls have really sold looks from the brand to me. I definitely think that Danai is one of the cool girls that could sell the brand to me. Taking this dress and styling it with a sleek short hairstyle, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a pair of metallic green Gucci ‘Crawford’ knotted metallic leather slingback sandals, and Mateo New York 14k gold large pearl dot hoop earrings would definitely ensure that Danai exudes cool girl casual elegance. The second film on this list that is confirmed to have a panel at the 2019 San Diego Comic-Con is Top Gun: Maverick. I don’t quite understand why Top Gun is being feted at Comic-Con. There wasn’t a Sci-Fi element to the original film, and I am sure hoping that there isn’t in the sequel. I am hoping that the sequel stays true to the original. I want to believe that. That being said with Louis Vuitton ambassador Jennifer Connelly as part of the cast I do expect that she will bring a fashion moment to the Comic-Con stage. Will she go full fashion and snatch a look off the latest Louis Vuitton Cruise 2020 runway? Most likely, but I feel like most of that show is too dressed up for this event, so instead I went to the virtual racks of LouisVuitton.com and found this graphic animal brushstroke print long sleeved jersey knee length dress which features leather details on the collar, shoulders, and cuff. This chic look is perfect for Jennifer as it is the perfect meshing of Nicholas Ghesquiere’s edgier aesthetic and the casual nature of Comic-Con. Now Jennifer is a Louis Vuitton purist. When she wears a runway look she rarely swaps clunky boots or sneakers for even another pair of Louis Vuitton shoes. So it is likely that if she wore this dress that she ends up wearing the high heeled monogrammed leather lace up combat style boots that the dress was paired with for the online sales purposes. Personally I would swap these boots for a pair of black plain calf leather and brown LV monogram canvas ‘Matchmake’ pointed toe chunky heel pumps finishing the look with a black ‘Everyday’ wide buckled belt on the waist, a sleek center parted hairstyle, defined eyes, and dusty antique rose pink lips.Black Widow is one of the Marvel movies expected to be feted during the superhero movie studio’s panel in Hall H during San Diego Comic-Con. I am really hoping this is the case. I want to see Scarlett Johansson be the center of attention. I want her to really up her game. I want her to remind me why I fell in love with her style all those many years ago. For this panel I decided to stick to black, which is Scarlett’s go to color, but with a look that is definitely a little more detailed than we are used to seeing from her with this black Versace double breasted blazer dress which features slashed details ‘mended’ with gold safety pins and gold buttons. It is that uber sleek and sexy vibe that made me fall in love with Scarlett and the vibe I want to see her bring back to the red carpet. I feel like since she started dating Colin Jost, whom she is now engaged to, she has been slowly getting her red carpet groove back. This look would definitely be back on her vibe. Now I would expect that Scarlett would pair this dress with simple black pointed toe pumps, but personally I would want to see it styled with a pair of black and gold Christian Louboutin ‘Barbarissima’ spike studded ankle strap sandals to keep the extra glam of this look going. Finish the dress with a chic wavy bob, smokey eyes, nude lips, and a selection of Anita Ko mismatched earrings including a diamond paperclip drop earring in one ear and a diamond ear jacket in the other to ensure that ScarJo owns the Comic-Con stage. Rachel Weisz is definitely one of the last people I think of when it comes to who I expect to see at Comic-Con, but given the fact that she is staring in Black Widow alongside Scarlett I do hope to see her make the journey to San Diego to help promote the film. Because I don’t really think of Rachel as a Comic-Con person it was kinda difficult to pick a look for her to wear for the Black Widow panel. Ultimately I decided that going to Proenza Schouler was the way to go, but something from the brands commercial side. I found this vibrant green Proenza Schouler crepe chiffon square neck peasant style midi dress on FarFetch and definitely believe that it could be the chic casual moment that I am hoping we see a lot of at San Diego Comic-Con this year. A pair of simple matching green suede Gianvito Rossi ‘Poppy’ platform sandals, a loose casual updo, soft dewy makeup including rose pink lips, and chic Fernando Jorge ‘Fluid’ collection diamond framed nephrite jade drop earrings would make this look incredibly chic head to toe. Florence Pugh is a relative newcomer to the world of red carpet fashion. Her star is definitely on the rise and has caught the eye of a couple of fashion brands. Black Widow will be the young British talents first major blockbuster film and I am really excited to see how she handles a promo tour for that. For the San Diego Comic-Con panel for the film I would love to see Florence turn to this black and white gingham Miu Miu cap sleeve mini dress. This is one of the brands that has taken notice of Florence and if you want people to get to know you then you go for the big label on the red carpet. This chic and simple look is just enough of a fashion moment for the young starlet to bring to life for a Comic-Con panel without it seeming like she is trying too hard to get noticed. A chic topknot, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of raspberry pink suede and silver glitter Miu Miu rounded toe chunky heel pumps, and a bit more sparkle via David Morris ‘Rose Cut Forever’ white gold and diamond cluster earrings would finish this look to perfection.

The 2019 San Diego Comic-Con will take place from Thursday July 18, 2019 to Sunday July 21, 2019.
