The BAFTA Awards are just six days away and I am really interested in seeing what everyone who will jet off to London for this red carpet. While other awards shows I have had upwards of anywhere from 8 to 14 individual posts I only have four posts for the BAFTA Awards. The red carpet isn’t usually as packed with guests of the films nominated who aren’t nominated themselves. So it is really important that the stars who end up walking this red carpet bring their a-game. I am really excited to see what everyone will wear this year. The nominees this year all bring bold drama and glamour to the red carpet.Cynthia Erivo is nominated for the EE Rising Star Award and she definitely knows how to bring the drama to the red carpet. I tend to either really love what Cynthia is wearing or I really loathe it. She has the potential to really wow me, but sometimes she brings too many elements to the red carpet. I want to see her bring the drama this weekend on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards wearing this soft lavender Ziad Nakad Spring 2019 Couture sleeveless gown which features a high ruffled neckline, an intricately embroidered bodice, ruffled high low ball skirt, and a dramatic train. We don’t see Ziad Nakad on the red carpet very often and I honestly don’t know why. The brand has a lot of glamorous and dramatic moments I know would be absolutely amazing on the red carpet. This gown in particular would definitely need someone with presence to really be able to wear this gown and not get lost in all of those tulle ruffles, and I really do believe that Cynthia would be able to power through, despite her petite frame. I would have her return to the buzz platinum hair that she had when I first discovered her to compliment this gown. A pair of metallic purple Gianvito Rossi platform sandals, smokey eyes, and dark purple lips would all ensure this is the most dramatic moment for Cynthia to deliver on this red carpet. Irina Shayk, like Gaga, could go with Bradley to either to the BAFTA Awards or the Grammy Awards. I have a feeling that for this night Gaga and Bradley will share responsibilities supporting A Star Is Born. I believe that Gaga will go to LA for the Grammy’s and the Bradley will go to London the BAFTA Awards. She hasn’t been on every red carpet with Bradley, but I want her to be. Irina has been wearing a lot of Atelier Versace recently and I want to see her give us mermaid vibes on this red carpet at the BAFTA Awards should she jet to the British capital to attend the event with Bradley. This seafoam green Atelier Versace Spring 2019 Couture column gown which features beaded swagged fringe, plunging neckline, and a thigh high side split is gorgeous and I definitely believe that Irina would sell this gown to me with ease on the red carpet. A pair of iridescent silver Christian Louboutin ‘Very Strass PVC’ crystal embellished peep toe platform pumps, chic waves tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, soft pink lips, and Chopard Red Carpet Collection ‘Silk Road’ diamond, emerald, and tourmaline drop ear clips would ensure this look is Mermaid glam from head to toe.
Margot Robbie has been an alright ambassador for Chanel since the partnership was first announced about a year ago. I do however want to see Margot really wow me instead of just be pretty on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards this weekend. I went for chic elegance with this black Chanel Spring 2019 Couture strapless tea length gown which features ruffled details on the hips and the hem, gold beaded banding from the neckline to the hem ruffles, and a column silhouette. I would love to see this turned into a floor length gown for Margot, and since she is a Chanel ambassador I could see Kaiser Karl making that modification for her. Maybe adding another two ruffles to make this more of a mermaid gown. It would be a real inspired take on a classic Chanel style. Adding a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a black and gold Chanel acrylic minaudiere, black and gold Malone Souliers ‘Mika’ strappy pumps, and a pair of 1970’s Van Cleef & Arpels archive 18k gold and diamond chandelier earrings to make this the perfect statement 80’s meets now moment for Margot to bring to life on this red carpet. I won’t lie I can totally see the Best Actress in a Supporting Role trophy at this weekend BAFTA Awards going to Rachel Weisz. She is the epitome of a dramatic British actress and while I haven’t been overly thrilled with the Celine and Givenchy Couture options that she has worn so far this awards season. I want to see her deliver the major moments I know she can on her home turf. That is exactly what I think would happen if she stepped onto the BAFTA Awards red carpet wearing this pale pink neoprene and silk satin column gown which features an asymmetric keyhole bow, black liquid velvet and satin contrast panels and is embellished with Swarovski rosaline xilions crystals in a decadent scallop embroidery design. I love this gown and I definitely think that Rachel has the grace and elegance to really make this gown come to life on the red carpet. A romantic updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a black Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ crystal embellished clutch, black and nude Gianvito Rossi crystal embellished mesh sandals, and Tiffany & Co. white and pink diamond drop fan earrings would ensure this is Rachel’s best red carpet moment so far this awards season. Rounding out this list is Viola Davis, who earns her only solo nomination this awards season. She was on hand at the Critics Choice Awards in a glittering bronze Michael Kors gown to present Claire Foy with the #SeeHer Award and I am very excited to see what she might be cooking for for the BAFTA Awards red carpet this weekend. I don’t expect Viola to upset either Glenn Close or Olivia Colman in the Best Actress in a Leading Role category, so I decided to go with a simple silhouette for her to wear on this red carpet. I saw this silver sequin Pamella Roland Pre-Fall 2019 balloon sleeve column gown which features a plunging v-neckline and a cinched waist and I was sold. It isn’t anything boundary pushing or dramatic, but sometimes a simple look is just what one needs to really deliver a chic moment on the red carpet. A romantic updo, smokey eyes, red lips, a silver Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ crystal embellished clutch, simple silver Jimmy Choo ‘Misty’ metallic leather sandals, and vintage Harry Winston diamond cluster pendant drop earrings would all ensure that this look just screams glamour from head to toe.
The 2019 BAFTA Awards will take place on Sunday February 10, 2019.
