2019 BAFTA Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

A week from today are two major red carpets. We have both the BAFTA and Grammy Awards on the same night, as usual. It was a nice break last year when they were moved around so they wouldn’t conflict with the Olympics. That isn’t the case this year. It will be a busy day as I blog live from the beginning of the day in London to the end of the day in Los Angeles. Up first in my wishes for that day of glamour are my wishes for the 2019 BAFTA Awards. Amy Adams has worn chic but simple gowns all awards season so far, but she hasn’t had that major wow moment for me yet. Shes rocked looks from Celine, Zac Posen, and Calvin Klein by Appointment for the major red carpets so far this season. She is nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role and I hope that she brings a really chic look. While I am ready for something major I decided to stick with black because when I saw this black sequin Giambattista Valli Spring 2019 Couture halter neck gown which features a cutout detail and an a-line skirt I knew it was something Amy would be drawn to. She loves a good Giambattista Valli Couture moment on the red carpet and I definitely think that it would be a really glam moment for her to bring to life on this red carpet. A sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, black Christian Louboutin ‘Uptown’ pointed toe d’orsay pumps, and Cartier High Jewelry including a pair of diamond and emerald waterfall earrings and a statement diamond and emerald cuff watch bracelet would add the perfect touches to ensure that this look is beautiful from head to toe. I would say that The Favourite is a favorite to take home several BAFTA Awards and I would bet that Emma Stone is one of the front runners to take home the Best Actress in a Supporting Role trophy. She has stuck to her Louis Vuitton contract all awards season so far, but I am PRAYING to the fashion gods that we see her give something outside of LV on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards next weekend. She was doing a lot of Givenchy when she wasn’t wearing Louis Vuitton last year and I am still waiting for Emma to wear a Givenchy Couture by Clare Waight Keller creation, and what better place to do that than on the red carpet at the BAFTA Awards? I think Emma would shut the red carpet down wearing this white and silver Givenchy Spring 2019 Couture short sleeve gown which features a t-shirt style latex bodice beaded details, a short white sequined mini skirt, layered under a harlequin cutout sheer over skirt trimmed in glitter. It is that modern glam moment that I feel like we haven’t seen from Emma in a long time and I know it would be an absolutely major moment. I of course would still ensure that Louis Vuitton is represented in the look via a pair of silver ‘Sihouette’ sandals and ‘Jardin’ diamond and emerald drop earrings. Add a sleek updo, defined eyes, and red lips to add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble. I am still trying to figure out where Lady Gaga will be next Sunday. Will she play the part of the actress and go to the BAFTA Awards where she is nominated for Best Actress in a Leading Role for her performance in A Star Is Born or will she go to the Grammy’s where she is more likely to win for “Shallow?” Something tells me that she will be in LA for the Grammy’s but since I’m not sure I am going to make wishes for her to wear for both, because the looks I would pick for each red carpet are very different. For the BAFTA Awards I would go much more glamorous picking this black Georges Hobeika Spring 2019 Couture ball gown which features beaded swag sleeves, a sweetheart neckline bustier bodice, iridescent tinsel trimming on the skirt, and a dramatic train. I fell in love with this gown the moment I saw it and I am praying it gets a red carpet moment. I know Gaga has the confidence and presence to really bring this gown come to life on the red carpet. I would pair this gown with a sleek big high bun, smokey eyes, dark wine red lips, black satin Roger Vivier ‘Viv’ platform sandals, simple diamond stud earrings, and a statement Fred Leighton diamond and opal antique necklace to really make this an eye catching moment for Gaga. Melissa McCarthy hasn’t made me excited all awards season. I want to see her take the second half and really bring some chic moments to the red carpet starting with the BAFTA Awards. I want to see Melissa give us chic bold glamour wearing this red Oscar de la Renta caftan style column gown. It is the perfect balance of structure and flowing. I think it would be one of the more chic moments that Melissa has ever worn on the red carpet. I think that it would flatter all of her curves and really make for a chic moment. A sleek updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of red Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pointed toe pumps, and IVY New York ‘Cascada’ diamond, ruby, and moonstone chandelier earrings all would really ensure that this is an absolutely glamorous moment for Melissa to bring to life on this red carpet from head to toe. Rounding out this set of wishes is the extremely dapper Rami Malek. So far he has swept the Golden Globes, Critics Choice, and SAG Awards thanks to his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody. Will he keep that trend going taking home the Best Actor in a Leading Role trophy at the BAFTA Awards too? I would think it is incredibly likely. I was looking for the perfect tuxedo for him to wear on this red carpet when I got all excited to see that Atelier Versace included menswear in the Spring 2019 Couture collection. I saw this black tuxedo with gold baroque embroidered shawl lapels and I knew it was a perfect look for Rami to wear on this red carpet. I might feel like the lapels are a little too wide, and I would bet that Ilaria Urbinati (Rami’s stylist) would have it trimmed up just a little bit. I would pair it with black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Andie’ gold studded brogues to really make this look perfection.

The 2019 BAFTA Awards will take place on Sunday February 10, 2019.
