2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 6

Today’s 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards wishes feature mostly wishes for members of the Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture casts of Crazy Rich Asians and Black Panther. Both of those casts have stars who really know how to bring the drama and glamour to the red carpet, but none earned their own individual nominations. I just hope that everyone in the cast the the SAG-AFTRA Foundation has included in the ensemble cast nominations is on the red carpet and Sunday night. Awkwafina was my favorite character in Crazy Rich Asians. I would love her see her get her own spin off film, or honestly a television series, based on that character. I never know what Awkwafina is going to wear on the red carpet to be honest. I haven’t quite been able to nail down her sense of style. I want to see her bring her best red carpet moment yet to the SAG Awards and I think that would be this gold lamé Lanvin column gown which features an asymmetrical draped bodice with cap sleeves and a  v-neckline and an empire waist. Lamé can be a tricky fabric to wear on the red carpet. It isn’t very forgiving and it wrinkles super easy, but I honestly believe that Awkwafina would be able to make it work. I think that a gold Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ crystal embellished clutch, a loose pulled back updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of gold Jimmy Choo ‘Peachy’ platform sandals, and chic Hanut Singh ‘Shaded Pagoda’ green amethyst, ruby, diamond, and gold chain tassel drop earrings would all make this a perfect moment for Awkwafina to deliver on the SAG Awards red carpet this coming weekend. Constance Wu threw this list for a loop at the last minute. I was writing this post on Saturday night as I was refreshing photos from the Producers Guild of America Awards red carpet. I let out a guttural groan when I saw the head shot of Constance wearing her gold chevron beaded J. Mendel gown. Not because it wasn’t a chic moment, but because it was the gown that I was just about to put on this wish list for Constance to wear this coming Sunday at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. I had to go back to square one. I went back to my photo archive to look for another glamorous gown for Constance to wear on Sunday night at the SAG Awards. I saw this blush pink sequin Marchesa Pre-Fall 2019 mermaid gown which features a sweetheart strapless neckline, a an A-line silhouette, all over sequins, and black floral appliques and thought back to the fact that Constance’s character in Crazy Rich Asians had her ‘Cinderella’ moment in the movie wearing a Marchesa gown. I also remembered that the off the shoulder detail is actually a detachable shawl. I would remove that shawl detail as too much around the neck definitely tends to overwhelm Constance. I think that the strapless neckline is perfect for her. A chic updo, defined eyes, soft rose pink lips, a pair of black Sophia Webster ‘Andie’ bow detail strappy sandals, and Cartier diamond and onyx pendant drop earrings would all just make this an absolutely beautiful moment for Constance. The last member of the cast of Crazy Rich Asians that I have a wish for is the incredibly handsome Henry Golding. He made my Best Dressed Men of 2018 list in his ice blue Tom Ford shawl lapel tuxedo at the films premiere in LA, but he has been MIA all awards season so far leaving the celebration of the film to the ladies of the cast. I was counting on him to bring that extra sense of menswear dressing to the red carpet. I hope that since he is named member of the nominated cast that we will finally see Henry bring his glamour to the red carpet. I went back to Tom Ford and this just presented grey, blue, and black marble print shawl lapel tuxedo jacket from the designers just released Fall 2019 Menswear lookbook as the perfect thing for Henry to wear this weekend on the SAG Awards red carpet. I fell in love with these jackets immediately and I definitely think that Henry would bring a classic spin to it. I would imagine he would wear it with your standard white tuxedo shirt, black bow tie, and black tuxedo pants. I would however add one more layer of extra with a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Ascot Boy’ patent leather and grosgrain bow detail loafers to really make this an eye popping moment for Henry to wear on this red carpet. I always get excited to see the cast of Black Panther on the red carpet. Each member of the cast always puts their best foot forward and brings drama and glamour to the red carpet. I was in love with Danai Gurira’s red and orange custom Rodarte one shoulder lace gown that she wore for the Golden Globe Awards. It was probably number 11 on my favorites list. I want to see Danai bring chic elegant glamour to the red carpet at the SAG Awards this weekend. I have always loved when Danai wears Giambattista Valli on the red carpet so picking this black strapless gown from the designers Fall 2018 Couture collection was an easy choice. I love the bow detail on the neckline, the cutout on the ruched bodice, and the pearl polka dotted embellishments. It gives a 21st century Audrey Hepburn vibe and I definitely think that Danai would be able to sell it to me with ease on the red carpet especially with a chic updo, smokey eyes, glossy red lips, a pair of black Sophia Webster ‘Coco’ crystal and pearl embellished heel pointed toe pumps, and a pair of vintage Fred Leighton diamond and pearl chandelier earrings. Letitia Wright was not really a fashion star when she was out on the road promoting Black Panther, but her style star rose quickly. She went from wearing seasons old Rami Al Ali and Bibhu Mohapatra to hot off the runway and custom Prada, Chanel, and Gucci. I have been missing seeing her on the red carpets this awards season so far and I am hoping that she will come out with the rest of the cast of the film for the SAG Awards this weekend. I would love to see Letitia bring this black Burberry Spring 2019 RTW collection column gown which features a high square neckline, stomach cutout, draped detail on the hips, crystal beaded trimming, and a center split. I honestly expect Letitia to wear a custom Prada gown on the red carpet at the SAG Awards on Sunday, but this would be a really interesting choice for her to make. It is makes for a modern glam moment. Pair it with a black Marzook crystal ball clutch, black Aquazzura ‘Minimalist’ PVC strap sandals, a finger wave inspired updo, winged eyeliner, red lips, and a pair of simple Chaumet ‘Laurier’ diamond and pearl cluster earrings and I know Letitia will grace this red carpet with sharp modern glamour. Mandy Moore is the only one on this list who isn’t in a movie cast. She always delivers chic moments on the red carpet and since she is part of the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series nominated cast of This Is Us I want to see her deliver a real chic statement moment on the SAG Awards red carpet this coming weekend. I saw this bold psychedelic pattern Emilio Pucci Pre-Fall 2019 one shoulder sequined column gown and I wanted to see it on the SAG red carpet. I just didn’t know who I thought could make it work. Then I thought of Mandy. There aren’t many red carpets during awards season where one could get away with wearing this bold of a gown, but the SAG Awards is one of them. I love how bold and glamorous this gown is and I definitely trust Mandy to really make it work. I think she would pair this gown with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, soft blush pink lips, a purple velvet Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, a pair of gold Aquazzura ‘Linda’ metallic leather sandals, and hammered gold and diamond David Webb drop earrings and it would all make for a perfect SAG red carpet moment.

The 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place on Sunday January 27, 2019.
