The Screen Actors Guild Awards is one of the stars favorite nights of all awards season. It is one of the more laid back nights of awards season. The air is fun and celebratory. The awards are nominated and voted on by other actors. The red carpet is one that can go many different ways. From couture jumpsuits like Rose Byrne in Elie Saab Couture to custom looks like Allison Janney in Yanina Couture and Emma Stone in Dior Couture to just about anything else you could imagine. The cast of Black Panther might have not earned any individual nominations for their performances in the film, but they are nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. I am really excited to see what everyone in the cast will bring to the red carpet. Angela Bassett is one of the most underrated members of the cast when it comes to the red carpet, but I know she can serve a major look. I went chic with this one shoulder Azzi & Osta Spring 2019 RTW draped gown which features a blouson bodice, a single slashed sleeve, belted waist, a column skirt with a draped side split, and a sweeping train. It isn’t the most dramatic look that Angela has ever worn, but I think that this gown works for the more laid back vibe of the SAG Awards. Center parted curls, smokey eyes, dark oxblood red glossy lips, a gold crystal and pearl embellished Sophia Webster ‘Clara’ box clutch, a pair of white, gold, rose gold, and silver Sophia Webster ‘Joy’ pleated color-block metallic leather sandals, and de Grisogono jewels including pink gold ‘Gocce’ pendant drop earrings and a pink gold and diamond bangle would all make this a gorgeous ethereal moment for Angela to bring to life on the red carpet at the SAG Awards. Chadwick Boseman deprived us of getting a really good look at his white ice custom Versace tuxedo and silver glitter Christian Louboutin’s at the Golden Globe Awards when he skipped the red carpet and the press room earlier this month. He knows how to give a great moment on the red carpet and he didn’t disappoint from that short moment we saw from it. He gives so many different bold moments and I want to see something really great from him on the red carpet on next Sunday at the SAG Awards. I want to see him rock the red carpet in this black Louis Vuitton Fall 2019 Menswear ensemble which just came right off the runway. I love the two jacket vibe with the suit jacket turned cropped bomber jacket layered over a blazer and skinny pants. It was a cool look that also featured a black t-shirt and a silver metallic leather harness. It definitely has more of a winter vibe, but I think that Chadwick could rock it. A pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Black Ice’ silver studded derbies would all finish it in an edgy manner. I just finished watching BlacKkKlansman and it was fantastic. I can definitely understand why the cast is nominated for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture. I have been loving seeing Laura Harrier on the red carpets helping support the film over the course of awards season. She is a face of Louis Vuitton, but she hasn’t exclusively wearing the brand on the red carpet. She did wear it for both the Golden Globe Awards and the Critics Choice Awards, but those were the only times. I would expect that she will wear the brand again this coming Sunday in a custom design for the SAG Awards. If she did step out of the brand for this red carpet I would love to see her wearing this lilac Atelier Versace Fall 2018 Couture column gown which features intricate embellishments, a halter neck, and tiered fringe. It gives distinct 90’s vibes and I think that Laura would definitely be able to really bring this gown to life. I would style it with sleek center parted hair like the lookbook adding smokey eyes, dark red glossy lips, a pair of silver Louis Vuitton ‘Silhouette’ sandals, a silver crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, and simple Anabela Chan ‘Diamond Shard’ pendant drop earrings to really make this an absolutely chic moment on this red carpet. Madeline Brewer either makes my heart beat faster or makes me scratch my head. She was on the red carpet at the WB/InStyle Golden Globes after-party in a black asymmetrical top and pants and it made me scratch my head. I want to see her bring some major moments to the red carpet at the SAG Awards. Something that would make my heart flutter. I think that would be the case if Madeline stepped onto the red carpet wearing this lavender and dark purple floral Carolina Herrera draped gown which features a sleeveless design, spaghetti straps, a fitted waist, a flared style, pleated details, a floral pattern, and small flower embellishments to the neckline. I LOVE a red head in purple and I think that this would be a beautiful moment. A romantic whispy updo, thick defined winged eyes, soft pink lips, a lilac Bottega Veneta ‘Parme’ enamel knot clasp clutch, a pair of purple, peridot green, and fuchsia Sophia Webster ‘Rosalind’ metallic leather strappy sandals, and IVY New York jewels including a pair of tsavorite and diamond half moon cluster earrings and a statement tsavorite and diamond ‘Trinity Knot’ cocktail ring would all make this such a beautiful and feminine moment for Madeline. Susan Kelechi Watson is part of the large cast of This Is Us and is nominated with her co-stars for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Will the lovable Pearson family take home the title again? It is probable. At last years ceremony Susan gave bold color a go in an electric blue Rubin Singer gown, and I want to see her keep embracing color. I would love to see her bring this sunshine yellow Pamella Roland Spring 2019 RTW draped silk organza gown which features a deep V neckline, an a-line skirt, defined waist, a center split, and pearl detail along the trim. She brings color to life on the red carpet and I feel like she would be a bright ray of sunshine on this red carpet. The train might be a little longer than what we expect on the SAG Awards red carpet, but I think it would add the drama that Susan likes on the red carpet. I would ensure that this look is really chic styling this gown with a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft rose pink lips, a pair of yellow Aquazzura ‘Casablanca’ PVC ankle strap and crystal buckle stiletto sandals, and statement Butani white and yellow diamond drop earrings. Last up for today is Yvonne Strahvoski who is part of the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series nominated cast of The Handmaid’s Tale. She will also join Crazy Rich Asian’s nominee Harry Shum Jr. on the red carpet at the SAG Awards one week from tonight to present the stunt ensemble awards ahead of the shows telecast. I go back and forth with Yvonne and her style. I know she has potential, but there is always something just a little off about her red carpet looks. I want a really glamorous moment when she steps onto the SAG Awards and it was an easy choice for me to pick this black bias draped Victoria Beckham Pre-Fall 2019 sleeveless gown for her to wear on this red carpet. It has been a while since Victoria Beckham has shown a gown and I think that this one really showcases that simplistic glamour that really made her brand flourish. I think that this simple gown would be a really gorgeous moment on Yvonne. It isn’t going to be one of the most dramatic moments of the night, but I think that with a sleek updo, defined eyes, soft red lips, a black crystal embellished Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, simple black Jimmy Choo ‘Pattie’ peep toe platform sandals, and a pair of white diamond and black enamel Nikos Koulis ‘Oui’ art deco fringe drop earrings that this could be one of Yvonne’s best red carpet moments yet.
The 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place on Sunday January 27, 2019.
