2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

The Screen Actors Guild Awards is coming up and I am really excited to see what everyone is going to bring to the red carpet. The more casual nature of the red carpet allows for major moments. I almost put a SAG Award red carpet moment on my Best Dressed of the Year list last year. If I had done 20 looks it would have made the cut. I want everyone to deliver that same level of glamour and drama this year. I want to be sitting on the edge of my seat for the whole red carpet and then have the hardest time editing down my Best Dressed at the 2019 SAG Awards list. Alexis Bledel is part of the nominated cast of The Handmaid’s Tale. She has delivered really great moments on the red carpet, but often times I find that her style is a little too standard. I want to see her really dazzle on the red carpet at the SAG Awards on Sunday night. I decided to go with this emerald green Andrew Gn Spring 2019 RTW sequined silk blend gown which features thick straps, an empire waist, and a column silhouette with embellishment throughout. I have been waiting to see this gown on the red carpet and I feel like this is almost the last major red carpet where it would work and so when I was looking for the perfect gown for Alexis it just clicked. I think it would be a really chic moment for her to bring to life on this red carpet especially if it was paired with a sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, an emerald green Judith Leiber Couture ‘Soho’ satin box clutch, a pair of green Gucci ‘Daisy’ satin d’orsay pumps, and chic Hanut Singh ‘The One’ carved emerald and diamond pendant earrings.I feel like Betty Gilpin has the potential to really wow me, but more often than not she leaves me underwhelmed. She doesn’t tend to breathe life into the things she is wearing. I loved the J. Mendel strapless ball gown she wore earlier this month at the Critics Choice Awards, but her lackluster hair and heavy eyes but barely there make up on the rest of her face just didn’t vibe well together. I want to see her bring something different to the red carpet at the SAG Awards, where she is nominated with her GLOW cast for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. I thought that a cool pants look might be right up Betty’s ally. So I turned to Brandon Maxwell and this bold red look from his Spring 2019 RTW collection that consists of a floor length silk top which features a mock-neckline, cap sleeves, a large slit down the front, and a sweeping train and a pair of white waisted silk trousers which feature a wide leg. I think that Betty wants to have this cool girl edge on the red carpet, but her stylist is steering her away from that. I think she would exude confidence in a bold look like this one. A sleek updo, thin defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of red Manolo Blahnik ‘BB’ pointed toe pumps, and Amwaj diamond fringe drop earrings would all add the perfect finishing touches to ensure this look just exudes cool girl glam. Donald Glover isn’t nominated individually for his performance in his hit comedy series Atlanta, but he is part of the cast nominated for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series. He always brings this cool swag to the red carpet be he wearing a Dior Man suit sans shirt or a 70’s inspired embroidered Gucci velvet suit. I want Donald to continue to wow me on the red carpet giving me a major menswear moment with this black and grey poppy print Louis Vuitton Spring 2019 Menswear double breasted suit jacket. I have loved this jacket since it first came down the runway last June and I definitely think that Donald has the edge to bring it to life on the red carpet. The printed jacket itself is a pretty bold statement on it’s own so I would keep the rest of the styling pretty simple. I think that some grey tuxedo pants, a black t-shirt, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Alpha Male Strass’ crystal toe cap, glitter, and velvet oxfords all would make this a perfect menswear moment on this red carpet. Gemma Chan hasn’t delivered a perfect moment on the red carpet at any of the major award shows this season. I wasn’t a fan of either the Valentino Couture she wore the Golden Globe Awards or the custom Jason Wu gown she wore Critics Choice Awards. I did however find myself loving the hot pink Miu Miu dress she wore for the Globes after parties and the yellow floral Erdem she wore for the National Board of Review Awards. I decided for the SAG Awards that I wanted to see Gemma wearing this black Solace London Pre-Fall 2019 column gown which features a silk off the shoulder puffy sleeves. It isn’t what I would normally pick for her to wear on this red carpet, but I think that Gemma would wear this with effortless ease. It would definitely need some really great accessories. A chic updo, defined eyes, red lips, a black Judith Leiber Couture ‘Reflection’ resin box clutch, a pair of statement black Sophia Webster ‘Lorena’ crystal embellished peep toe slingback ankle strap sandals, and a suite of David Morris diamond jewels would infuse the more statement accessories to really make this gown come to life on this red carpet. Julia Garner has been one of the more underrated stars on the red carpet over the last year or so. She is part of the Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series nominated cast of Ozark and I am expecting something really interesting from her next Sunday at the SAG Awards. She has rocked a couple of cool Christopher Kane looks in the past so I turned back to the designer for the perfect look for her to wear on this red carpet, but as I write this post I am imagining something custom inspired by the tea length gown from the Christopher Kane Spring 2019 RTW collection. I would take the crystal embellished lace corseted bodice of this gown which features structured sleeves and custom the skirt to hit the floor. It could also be turned into a simple column silhouette. Either way I think it would be a perfect moment for Julia to deliver on this red carpet. We don’t get enough Christopher Kane worn on awards season red carpet and I think that Julia has the edge to bring his designs to life on the red carpet. Add a black Christian Louboutin ‘Palmette’ crystal embellished clutch, a sleek updo, defined eyes, dark red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Jonatina’ black leather and PVC strap sandals, and a selection of Yvan Tufenkjian ‘Stacked’ collection diamond jewels including a pair of ear-crawler earrings, a cuff bracelet, and a cocktail ring and this look would be perfect SAG Awards red carpet. Melissa McCarthy is the final nominee in the Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Leading Role in a Motion Picture. I want to see Melissa deliver a really major moment on the red carpet at the SAG Awards. Melissa delivered a bold color moment in amethyst purple Reem Acra caftan style gown on the red carpet at the Golden Globe Awards. I want to see Melissa deliver old Hollywood glamour on the red carpet next Sunday at the SAG Awards with this black Christian Siriano leopard sequin gown which features a boat neckline with a draped silhouette, a column skirt, and a sweeping train. It is more of a form fitting gown than we are used to seeing from Melissa on the red carpet, but in a designer like Siriano I know that it would have the absolute perfect fit. He knows how to dress women with curves and I think that this would be one of Melissa’s best red carpet moments ever. A sleek updo, defined eyes, red lips, a black Roger Vivier ‘Trianon’ crystal buckle bow drape satin clutch, a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Sin Drape Cigarette’ satin slingback pumps, a pair of DeBeers ‘Thames Path’ diamond drop earrings and a matching diamond ring would add all the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble.

The 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place on Sunday January 27, 2019.
