2018 End of the Year Style Awards: Couturier of the Year

The theme of today’s awards is all about the designers stars wore on the red carpet this year. The Couturier of the Year award is decided based on how many times a couture brand, which means they must show in the Paris Couture collections, has been worn on the red carpet. In the past this title has gone to Elie Saab, Atelier Versace (4 years in a row,) and Christian Dior by Raf Simons. This year though Mr. Giorgio Armani stopped Donatella Versace from taking home the title again dressing 35 women in his couture “Prive” creations on every major red carpet from the Oscars to Cannes and beyond. One design from Armani Prive even made my Best Dressed of the Year list. I’m not telling you which one, but I had several of the looks in this roundup of some of the brands red carpet moments this year in my final cut for Best Dressed of the Year. One of the chicest moments the brand had on the red carpet this year was the re-wear of the Armani Prive gown that landed Cate Blanchett on my Best Dressed of 2014 list as she kicked off her run as the president of the Cannes Film Festival jury earlier this year. Cate has been re-wearing a lot of looks since then and I really just think that was one really chic moment to do so. Another moment I loved was Lady Gaga at the Toronto Film Festival. I knew I wanted to see her wearing that exact black veiled gown on a red carpet, and I came really close to actually picking it as the perfect gown for her to wear for TIFF, so when I saw her bring it to life on that red carpet I was ecstatic, and also a little jealous.  Armani Prive dresses stars of all ages and styles, and everyone always ends up looking absolutely amazing. There are some really major fashion moments still waiting to be worn on a red carpet and I have a feeling that stars will be flocking to the brand and fighting over the perfect looks for them to wear during awards season. Who would you like to see bring the brand to life on the red carpet next year? Will Armani Prive once again top next years couturier list?
