Bumblebee is the last blockbuster film that I have wishes for this year. This fall has been devoid of most of the major franchises so tours have been a little bit lacking, but I have a feeling that we might get out first taste at next years promo tour of the year contenders with this the tour for Bumblebee. As a rule I run my Best Dressed of the Year contenders from December 1st to November 30th every year. It does cut the head of possibility of December premieres making my annual list, but since I usually post my Best Dressed of the Year list earlier in December I hold off. Hailee Steinfeld has always been one of my favorite stars to see on the red carpet, and I have high expectations for what she will bring to the red carpet during the promo tour for Bumblebee. I currently only have a premiere date for Bumblebee confirmed in LA. I wanted to do couture for Hailee, because why not, and while I was thinking about a dramatic gown when I saw this aubergine Elie Saab Fall 2018 Couture one shoulder cocktail dress which features an asymmetrical ruffled organza cape like style and and an intricately embellished mini skirt I was sold on the idea. While I was sold in the back on my mind I wasn’t sure a cocktail dress for a major blockbuster premiere like this was right, so I sent it to a few other red carpet critic friends and they all thought it was a very Hailee choice so I decided that my gut was right. Where I wasn’t succeeding was with finding the right accessories. I knew I wanted to keep things pretty matchy when it came to the shoes for this look, but I couldn’t find just that right pair. So instead I found the perfect style, the Christian Louboutin ‘Sandale Du Desert’ ribbon ankle wrap sandals, and while it is only being sold in black I feel like the maison Christian Louboutin would be nice enough to custom dye a pair of these shoes to perfectly match that aubergine hue of the dress. Sleek straight locks center parted and tucked behind the ears, thick defined eyes with winged eyeliner, nude lips, and a pair of Fernando Jorge ‘Electric’ diamond and clear sapphire ear cuffs all would add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Angela Bassett is one of the stars who I tend to think are a little underrated on the red carpet. She doesn’t get the same level of couture, or even ready-to-wear, designers that some stars (like Hailee) get, but she always knows how to shut down a red carpet. She has rocked some major looks from brands like Naeem Khan, Azzi & Osta, Christian Siriano, and more this year and I want her to end the year on a real dazzling note rocking this silver sequin Pamella Roland Spring 2019 RTW jumpsuit and matching cropped jacket for the LA premiere of Bumblebee. I won’t lie I have been hesitant to put this look on a wish list because since I first saw this look I’ve been comparing it to the silver sequin Balmain jumpsuit that Tracee Ellis Ross wore way back in January. I think on Angela I would be totally mesmerized with her diva-tude that I wouldn’t even care, especially if she paired it with a full bouncy afro, black glitter smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of silver lace Christian Louboutin ‘Gipsybootie’ ankle boots, and Messika ‘Cassiopee’ diamond ear crawlers.
The LA premiere of Bumblebee is set to take place on Sunday December 9, 2018.
