“Welcome to Marwen” LA Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

Going into the fall festival season, the precursor to awards season, I was a little surprised to see that Welcome to Marwen wasn’t selected to screen at any of the festivals. The film screams festival film. I was thinking it was going to be an awards season contender, but I think that since it hasn’t had that festival platform that those chances are little to none now. I am however still hoping to see the film have a very chic red carpet premiere. I am predicting that it will take place in LA, but since it is unconfirmed when or where the film would be screened that due to the fires in Southern California that we could see it moved to NYC or elsewhere. The ensemble cast of this movie are among some of my favorite rising and underrated style stars so I am hoping that we will see everyone bring something really bold and glamorous to the red carpet.I started to learn who Eiza Gonzalez was last year, then she rocked a few red carpets oozing modern sensual glamour during awards season. Since the Oscars (to which she wore a very sleek and sexy yellow Ralph Lauren halter gown) we haven’t seen anything from Eiza and I an hoping that she will step out on the red carpet for the premiere of Welcome to Marwen. I immediately went to Rasario, a brand that Eiza has worn in the past, for the perfect look for her to wear for this premiere. I adore this Tiffany blue Rasario Spring 2019 RTW silk dress which features a fitted midi silhouette, back slit, thin straps, and off-the-shoulder puff sleeves and I think that it is the perfect mix of glamour and sex appeal for Eiza to bring to this red carpet. I typically pick gowns for movie premiere red carpets, but I think that since Welcome to Marwen is a comedy and that it isn’t expected to be a major blockbuster film that a cocktail dress is the perfect moment for Eiza to bring to life on this red carpet. I think the gown itself is a statement all on its own so I would style it with a sleek high ponytail, defined eyes, soft pink lips, a pair of silver Jimmy Choo ‘Talia’ strappy sandals, and Tiffany & Co. aquamarine floral stud earrings to ensure head to toe perfection. Gwendoline Christie is one who I always have high expectations for, but often she doesn’t hit the stride I am hoping for. The six foot three inch tall actress literally looms large on the red carpet. She definitely has the height to make anything work and even with that she often falls short of expectations. I decided to go for a more “casual” style for Gwen to wear on this red carpet with this marigold yellow Peter Pilotto Spring 2019 RTW silk charmeuse midi dress which features a scarf tie neck, long voluminous sleeves, a printed scarf print belt, and an a-line skirt. I was having a hard time picking the right dress for Gwendoline. Her history had a lot to do with it, but despite the more casual nature, especially in comparison to the dresses I’ve picked for Gwendoline’s co-stars, I thought that this dress would be perfect for her to bring to life. Her signature curly bob, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of silver and gold strap Malone Souliers ‘Maureen’ pumps would all add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble. I always love a good Janelle Monae sighting on a red carpet and so I am really excited to see what she is cooking up for her appearance at the premiere of Welcome to Marwen. She has been working with a new stylist this year. She has also been wearing a lot more color this year. Janelle was known for her pretty much exclusive use of black and white on the red carpet, with just a few sprinklings of red or pink in the mix. She shocked me earlier this year when she stepped out for the BET Awards wearing a bold Nicolas Jebran rainbow gown. For the premiere of Welcome to Marwen I went back to the black and white box with this bold and flirty Carolina Herrera Spring 2019 RTW cocktail dress which features sheer panels, a polka dot pattern, high neck, flutter sleeves, and a mini length a-line skirt. I immediately went to Carolina Herrera for Janelle because of her history with the brand on the red carpet. Janelle in Herrera is almost always a match made in heaven and now that the brand is being designed by Wes Gordon that the match is even more perfect. When it comes to styling I would love to see Janelle wearing this dress with a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, black Christian Louboutin ‘Fossiliza’ sandals, and a pair of Maison Dauphin ‘Fluid’ diamond drop earrings.Leslie Mann is one of the most underrated stars on this list. She always brings bold statements to the red carpet, even red carpets where I question who invited her, and usually looks absolutely beautiful. For the premiere of Welcome to Marwen I would love to see Leslie bring this aqua blue Giorgio Armani Spring 2019 RTW strapless tea length gown which is rendered in a pleated metallic printed fabric. The color alone against Leslie’s peachy skin tone and read hair would be phenomenal and with a pair of silver Jimmy Choo ‘Misty’ sandals, old Hollywood waves, pink lips, defined eyes, and a silver Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ crystal embellished box clutch would all really allow her to showcase her style in a major manner.

The date for the LA premiere of Welcome to Marwen is still unconfirmed.
