I get emotional every time I see the trailer for Boy Erased. I don’t cry at movies very often, but I feel like I am going to be a ball of tears over the course of this movie. I feel like I haven’t heard a whole lot about this film in the Oscar race and that makes me very sad. It looks amazing and I hope that the cast and crew really campaign hard for that. The next stop for the film is a stand alone premiere in Los Angeles on Monday October 29th. I am expecting good things from this red carpet. Typically by now I start to feel very confident that my Best Dressed of the Year list is solid, but then I get thrown. Could any of the cast members of Boy Erased shake up that confidence? Stranger things have happened. Nicole Kidman hasn’t wowed me in a while and I really want to see her deliver a jaw dropping moment on this red carpet. I don’t expect this to be a gown red carpet, but that doesn’t mean that Nicole can’t deliver a major moment. As soon as I saw this Chanel Fall 2018 Couture cocktail dress which features a multicolored fully sequined paillette bodice with a high neck and strong shouldered short sleeves, a navy pencil skirt, sequin trimming, and side splits it just clicked. It was one of those moments that I almost never realized I needed to see on the red carpet. It is definitely one of the more haute high fashion moments that Nicole has ever worn on the red carpet, but I really do think that it would make for a major moment. It could be one of those looks that sneaks its way onto my Best Dressed of the Year list. Add a sleek updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a navy velvet Tyler Ellis ‘Perry’ clutch, and a pair of navy and black Aquazzura ‘Mondaine’ satin knot detail pointed toe pumps and I think I would be left absolutely breathless. Troye Sivan has been having a major year and his supporting role in Boy Erased is just another notch. He has been having much of a loose and bohemian moment recently and that is pretty much the opposite of the look I’ve picked for him to wear on this red carpet. I think he would shut the red carpet down wearing this bold red Alexander McQueen Spring 2019 RTW two button suit which is paired with an ivory button down with open french cuffs. It is more classic than what we are used to seeing from Troye and with the fact that he already had a major red suit moment thanks to Valentino at the Met Gala I wonder if it is all that attainable of a wish, but I definitely think that would be perfect for him to bring to life on this red carpet. His signature messy waves and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Charlie Me’ leather brogues all would make this a look I have to add to my Best Dressed Men of the Year list.
The LA premiere of Boy Erased is expected to take place on Monday October 29, 2019.
