The 2018 Toronto International Film Festival kicks off in just three days and I am really excited to see what everyone will bring to the red carpet. I feel like this year fashion wise has been a really stellar year and I am expecting that TIFF this year is going to be really good. There are so many style stars who have films screening at this years festival and I feel like with the level of glam that everyone has produced this year that we will have many major moments on the red carpet. Juliette Binoche may have skipped out on her Venice Film Festival premiere, but since two of her films are screening in Toronto I’m really hoping that she makes the trip to promote her projects. I am very excited for the premiere of High Life and I really wanted to go for a very 70’s glam moment for Juliette to rock on the red carpet at this premiere. I feel like she would definitely own this black sequin Alberta Ferretti Limited Edition Fall 2018 tuxedo paired with a white blouse with a ruffled bodice and cuffs. It gives distinct Bianca Jagger and Studio 54 vibes and I definitely think that Juliette could sell that to me on the red carpet easily especially when paired with a glamorous wavy updo. defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle Follies’ pointed toe pumps. In distinct opposition to the vintage inspired glam moment I picked for Juliette to wear for the High Life premiere I went for a much more modern glam moment for Robert Pattinson. He is a face of Dior’s men’s fragrance and wears the brand on the red carpet with ease. I would love to see Robert snatch this navy one button Dior Man Spring 2019 Menswear double breasted suit on this red carpet. While it wasn’t paired with a shirt on the runway I would have Robert style this suit with a matching navy button up shirt buttoned all the way up with no tie. I would also swap the runways blue and white logomania sneakers with a much simpler pair of black patent leather oxfords to really make this a cool modern formal moment. Mia Goth killed her glam in Venice wearing Givenchy Couture, Valentino, and Emilia Wickstead promoting Suspiria. When she jets off to Toronto to promote High Life with Rob and Juliette I want to see Mia continue her glam run, but opting for something that meshes that disco glam and modern sleekness that I picked for her co-stars. I feel like a great Prada/Miu Miu moment is coming from Mia and I definitely think that she would be be that perfect meshing wearing this army green sequin custom Prada halter gown which features a loose column fit. Prada has been killing the custom gown game lately and I definitely think that this would fit in just perfectly with that run. Styling this custom gown with a sleek low bun, defined eyes, burgundy lips, a pair of custom Prada army green satin sandals, and simple Kiki McDonough peridot and diamond drop earrings would really make this look one of Mia’s best moments ever. Elle Fanning has been one of my absolute favorite girls on the red carpet this year. While she hasn’t attended a whole lot of events she has brought her a-game to everything. I loved the custom pale yellow Miu Miu gown that she wore for the Deauville American Film Festival premiere of Galveston and I cannot wait to see what she will choose for the films premiere at TIFF. I have been wanting to see Elle wearing this pink sequin floral Chanel Spring 2018 Couture strapless tea length gown which features 3D pink and white rosettes, a sheer hem, and a bell skirt since it first came down the runway. I heard that her stylist called to get her hands on this gown right after the show, but one of Chanel’s faces had already put it on hold. Well that was seven months ago. So I would love to see Chanel give this gown to Elle because I really can’t imagine anyone being able to really make it a true moment like I know that Elle could. I would style the gown with a pair of bloom pink satin Oscar de la Renta crossover strap platform sandals, a sleek bun, defined eyes, matching pink lips, and a pair of Chopard Red Carpet Collection white and pink diamond drop earrings to really ensure this look is sickly sweet from head to toe on this red carpet. Lili Reinhart skipped the Deauville premiere of Galveston, but I am hoping that we will see her join Elle on the red carpet at the films TIFF premiere. I still haven’t gotten a handle on what Lili’s style is yet, but as she continues to do big projects, in addition to her role in Riverdale, I will get a grasp on it. I decided to go with flirt and glamorous with this ivory Marchesa Resort 2019 tea length gown which features a portrait neckline, gold floral embroidery, and feather trimming on the shoulders and hem for her to rock in Toronto. Since the Weinstein scandal broke almost a year ago only three major stars have worn a Marchesa creation on the red carpet: Scarlett Johansson, Gwen Stefani (well on stage,) and Vanessa Hudgens. Lili isn’t on that level of stardom yet, but I definitely think that she would inject some life into the brand on the red carpet. To keep this look extremely chic I would style it with a romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of gold Miu Miu metallic crystal embellished ankle strap sandals, and 1970’s emerald and diamond drop earrings in silver and 18k gold from Beladora.
The 2018 Toronto International Film Festival will open on Thursday September 6, 2018 and runs through Sunday September 16, 2018.
