I have talked about how this is the most glamorous year that we have had in a long time and based on the films selected for this years Venice Film Festival I am thinking that this will be the festivals best year ever as well. As I mentioned yesterday I was really hoping that A Star Is Born was going to be selected as the opening film of this years festival, but I will have to settle for it being one of the out of competition gala premieres. I was hoping that when the studio pushed the release date of A Star Is Born that it was going to make the fall festival rounds and it is definitely doing that. I am really excited to see the actress Lady Gaga again. When she made her acting debut with her role in American Horror Story: Hotel she delivered much simpler and more glamorous wardrobe choices from the likes of Brandon Maxwell, Christian Siriano, and Atelier Versace. She stuck to a mostly black, white, and nude color palette with a few pops of red. As I was watching the couture shows hoping for great options for Gaga I saw myself once again gravitating to an all black wardrobe for Gaga to rock while she makes the festival rounds. For the photocall I went to probably the most glamorous and formal look of anyone I picked a photocall ensemble for picking this black Maticevski Resort 2019 ‘Tango’ cocktail dress which features a dramatic textured draped detailing with a fitted silhouette, asymmetrical styling, hip high side split, and a wide neckline for Gaga to deliver on the stage in Venice. It is that very glamorous style that I know that Gaga would be drawn to and I think that for anyone else this would have been too much, but this is a casual moment for Gaga. I think that even more glamorous touches including a sleek bouffant, smokey eyes, red lips, black satin Manolo Blahnik ‘Nadira’ jeweled pumps, and a pair of Ben-Amun ‘Crystal Peacock’ earrings would really ensure that this is a perfect moment for Gaga. And for the premiere I kept the black theme going strong with this black velvet Givenchy Fall 2018 Couture gown which features a hooded cowl neckline, cutaway crystal detailing, an a-line skirt, and a sweeping train. When I saw this gown come down the couture runway on the first day of Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week last month I immediately thought of Gaga and when it was confirmed that she was going to be on the Lido it was the first gown I thought of for her. It is that dramatic, yet chic moment that I think that we will continue to see from Gaga as she makes the festival and awards season rounds with this film. A sleek hairstyle (hidden by the hood), smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Rosie’ strappy leather platform sandals, and a selection of Chopard diamonds including a pair of ‘Riviera’ cluster earrings and a Rihanna <3’s Chopard cuff bracelet would really ensure that this look is modern glamour defined. As the mother of Bradley Cooper’s baby and his girlfriend it would surprise me if we didn’t see supermodel Irina Shayk on the 2018 Venice Film Festival red carpet supporting him at this premiere. I went the custom route taking the top from an Atelier Versace Fall 2018 Couture ensemble, but putting it on a simple deep purple embellished column skirt with a dramatic train to come up with the perfect gown for Irina to wear on this red carpet. The original version was a simple column gown. Not something I think would make a huge impact on this red carpet. The modifications however would really ensure that this is an absolutely statement making moment. She could run the risk of upstaging Gaga, but I think that this just works for Irina and a pair of black glitter Giuseppe Zanotti three strap sandals, a sleek romantic updo, defined eyes, burgundy lips, and a pair of Chopard diamond chandelier earrings all would really ensure that this look is nothing but glamour from head to toe. While we are only confirmed to see Naomi Watts on the red carpet at the jury photocall, opening and closing ceremonies I am expecting to see her on a few other red carpets over the course of the festival. So while I don’t know that we will see her on the red carpet at the premiere of A Star Is Born I am hoping that she will be. In Venice, especially with Armani Beauty acting as the official beauty sponsor of the festival, I am expecting to see lots of gorgeous Armani Prive moments on the red carpet and that is exactly what this is going to be. I love this gold and black crystal beaded and tiered tulle gown from the Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture collection which features a strapless neckline, a velvet banded drop waist, and tulle overlay and I definitely think that Naomi would wear this gown with ease and elegance on the red carpet in Venice. It is chic and glamorous moment and I think when paired with a romantic updo, defined eyes, pink lips, a pair of black and gold lace Marchesa ‘Addilyn’ sandals, and Bulgari gold, diamond, and pearl drop earrings that this would be another really chic moment from Naomi.
The 2018 Venice Film Festival opens Wednesday August 29, 2018 and runs through Saturday September 8, 2018.
