My first view of the Armani Prive Fall 2018 Couture collection was through photos on Vogue Runway, and I have to say that while it was chock full of the gowns that I was missing from Spring 2018 it felt a little disjointed. It really felt like I was looking at two collections with two different color palates and aesthetics. Bright pinks and turquoise were bookended with black and champagne. But then I finally was able to watch the video of the 22 minute long show. After that I was feeling the vibe just a little bit more, but I still feel like the muted tones and the bright colors fight each other instead of compliment each other. The first 55 looks of the collection are black and champagne and of them all only one infuses the teal moment into it and that was the look right before Mr. Armani went for the bold with the next 28 looks and then finishing with 10 more black and champagne ensembles. I feel like if those 28 bold looks of the collections were sprinkled in the other 65 looks that the collection wouldn’t have felt as disjointed. Maybe putting some of the pink and turquoise bags and shoes infused in with the black and champagne looks would help make the collection even more perfection than it already was. The collection was the perfect mix of the simplistic elegance of the 90’s and the incredible excess of the 80’s. It was all about the drama and luxury and glamour. That is why I think we will see a lot of this collection pop up on the red carpet. What this collection wasn’t lacking in gowns. I was disappointed in the spring collection because it wasn’t chock full of gowns and there was Cate Blanchett and her Cannes Film Festival impending. I am happy that with film festival season, the Emmy’s, winter blockbuster premieres, and next awards season that there are all kinds of options for stars to bring to the red carpet. There are definitely so many looks that I want to see given red carpet moments and I feel like everything from movie to television to music to fashion red carpets have a potential moment sitting in this collection. The wishes I have here are just a taste of the amazing looks from the collection and just a few of the potential red carpet moments. I can also picture Dakota Johnson, Heidi Klum, Iman, Allison Williams, Elizabeth Chambers, Dua Lipa, Marion Cotillard, Sara Sampaio, Claire Danes, Zoe Saldana, Karen Gillan, Karlie Kloss, Elizabeth Banks, Anya Taylor Joy, Gigi & Bella Hadid, Bella Heathcote, Daisy Ridley, Ruby Rose, Julianne Moore, Michelle Pfeiffer, Taylor Swift, Olga Kurylenko, Emmy Rossum, Selena Gomez, Felicity Jones, Michelle Williams, Sienna Miller, Sarah Paulson, Emma Stone, Margot Robbie, Natalie Portman, Jennifer Lawrence, Jennifer Connelly, Rita Ora, Keira Knightley, Jessica Chastain, and more bringing the glamour of this collection to life on the red carpet.
