The Feminine Heart of Paris: Alexis Mabille Fall 2018 Couture

Every season I get the Alexis Mabille Couture press kit, in addition to many others, and I always love how simple his press kits are. There is usually just a short poem that depicts the inspiration of the collection and a list of each look and the details. This season the inspiration was summed up in a quote from the song “Le Coeur de Paris” by Charles Trenet. “The heart of Paris is a Flower. A bloom so pretty that you’ll keep in your heart, that you’ll love for life” is what the words mean translated from the original French to English. The French designer delivered a very chic collection that was just effortless French glamour defined, but with his signature mix of big volume and dramatic details. I think that’s what I love most about Alexis Mabille Couture collections. They can have some of the biggest gowns of the week (not as much this time,) but they always come across as easy and chic. The collection was dotted with lace, feathers, and hand-painted floral silk. The looks varied in silhouette and style. I really do believe that there is a look for every woman in this collection. From the chic sophisticate and the edgy glamizon to the burlesque beauty and the princess there was a casual, cocktail, or evening ensemble that would fit just about every type of style. From ballgowns to embroidered bomber jackets and chic striped shifts to dramatic gowns the collection was an easy & glamorous feast for the eyes.  We don’t often see Alexis Mabille moments on the red carpet, and I say it all the time that is such a sad fact. His creations are gorgeous and really do deserve major moments on the red carpet. In addition to the lovely ladies mentioned above I would also like to see Meryl Streep, Ariana Grande, Celine Dion, Zendaya, Camila Cabello, Beyonce, Araya A. Hargate, Nieves Alvarez, Margot Robbie, Natalie Portman, Sienna Miller, Tracee Ellis Ross, and Diane Kruger wear looks from this fabulous collection on the red carpet.
