This is the first time I’ve covered any of the stars who we might see later this month at the 2018 San Diego Comic-Con and I have to say that I am really excited to see what everyone will bring. Another reason why I have loved putting these wishes together because I have been able to use some of the looks and designers that I don’t often get to feature on this site. I feel like I focus more on the cocktail and gown event, which I love, but I feel like sometimes a really great casual moment can be just as appreciated. Anya Taylor Joy is one of the stars of The New Mutants which was supposed to be released earlier this year, but it was pushed to next August. So with that in mind I don’t know if she will be on deck this year for Comic-Con or not. I have loved to see her extra meets bohemian style grow since she first burst onto the scene. She has been embraced major brands like Prada, Schiaparelli, Dolce & Gabbana, Chanel and Gucci and also given love to young brands like Huishan Zhang recently. I would love to see Anya give a chic casual moment going to for not your typical red carpet brand A.L.C. for her Comic-Con ensemble. I was actually really surprised by how much I loved this collection and I really do think that this ivory robe style dress which features and obi style belt, long sleeves, skater skirt, and plunging neckline would be a flirty and event appropriate yet glamorous moment for Anya to bring to this red carpet especially when paired with loose waves, defined eyes, pink lips, and a pair of black and silver Dolce & Gabbana buckle detail chunky heel graffiti pumps. I have been seeing so many great looks for Evan Rachel Wood to rock all over the Resort 2019 and Fall 2018 Couture runways and it is making me really excited for her (potential) Emmy’s run. I have heard that despite being in the throws of Season 2 currently and the fact that it is a favorite for some Emmy’s this year that Westworld won’t be paneled at Comic-Con this year, despite being on the schedule last year. I hope that isn’t true because I really want to see ERW bring a chic moment to Comic-Con and that is exactly what would happen if she wore this black No. 21 Resort 2019 short suit which features a double breasted blazer with white shirting details attached to the hem and cuff and a pair of mini Bermuda shorts. This look needs someone with cool girl attitude to really make it work out of the lookbook and I know that Evan has that effortless cool girl ease to really make this look come to life. Styling it with a sleek low bun, defined eyes, red lips, and black Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Lola Pearl’ sequin and suede sock boots would keep that cool girl vibe going.I will say I was kinda surprised not to see Keira Knightley at the Chanel Couture show yesterday. She has the winter blockbuster promo tour for The Nutcracker and the Four Realms to plan for. I don’t know if Disney movies, outside of the Marvel universe, will feature at Comic-Con but this type of live action fantasy is something I feel we could see presented. We have never seem Keira do Comic-Con before and with her style of films sticking more to the film festival crowd it doesn’t surprise me. Her style doesn’t scream Comic-Con to me either. As I write this I honestly don’t even know if this black, white, and peach Chanel Cruise 2019 midi dress is right either. I can totally see Keira wearing it, but I’m doubting that it would be the right choice for Comic-Con. I feel like we could see Keira go really casual wearing jeans, a white t-shirt, a Chanel tweed jacket, and a pair of Chanel sneakers for an event like this. Michelle Williams hasn’t been to Comic-Con since she presented Oz the Great and Powerful back in 2012 wearing a chic black and white Giulietta shift dress. She is another of the stars whose style I don’t necessarily vibes with what we expect at Comic-Con, especially now that shes a slave to Louis Vuitton. Could a Comic-Con appearance to promote Venom (which will release in October) be an extremely rare public appearance where Michelle decides to go outside of the Louis Vuitton umbrella? My guess is the chances of that are slim to none, but I will crave it none the less while still making a wish for Michelle to wear a Louis Vuitton ensemble. I feel like this black silk Louis Vuitton Cruise 2019 knotted drape dress is right up Michelle’s ally but I would imagine that she would have it modified to bring up the very deep plunging neckline and cover up the cutouts on the sides and back of the dress. Those modifications would indeed take the allure out of this dress, but that is what I come to expect from Michelle. I wouldn’t expect any stand out styling to make up for the modifications either. I would imagine that Michelle would pair the modified dress with her signature sleek pixie, defined eyes, nude glossy lips, and a pair of black Louis Vuitton ‘Horizon’ low heel logo sandals.Rounding out this set of wishes is one of my favorite ladies whom I haven’t been able to feature enough of lately, Ruth Negga. Since bursting onto the scene with her award winning performance in Loving Ruth has gone on to role in Preacher and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. so I would imagine that she will be at Comic-Con to promote either of those shows. She was at Comic-Con last year but her best looks (from The Vampire’s Wife and Miu Miu) were only seen thanks to her stylist Karla Welch and her Instagram. Ruth isn’t afraid to be a little extra so that is why I went for a full on leather look for her to wear for this years Comic-Con with this Salvatore Ferragamo Resort 2019 ensemble which features a black, white and red patchwork halter top and black wide leg, high waisted culottes. I saw this look in the Ferragamo lookbook and Ruth was the first person to come to mind and it made me hope that there would be an occasion that I could use this look to wish for and then I thought of Comic-Con and the pieces just fell into place. A pair of black Sergio Rossi studded t-bar strappy sandals, a knotted braids bun, defined eyes, and oxblood red lips are what I would add to this ensemble to make sure this is a perfect look from head to toe.
The 2018 San Diego Comic-Con will take place from July 19 to 22, 2018.
