2018 MTV Movie & Television Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

On Monday MTV will host its second Movie & Television Awards and it will be hosted by rising comedienne and luminary Tiffany Haddish. The funny lady always knows how to bring a laugh and I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet, and stage, as she hosts this years event. Tiffany started working with master image consultant Law Roach in the weeks leading up to the Met Gala. I have to say that her looks have been REALLY good since her stylist swap and I am really excited to see what she and Law are going to cook up for the MTV Movie & Television Awards. I wonder if she will once again pull out that white Alexander McQueen gown she bought for the premiere of Girls Trip and has subsequently worn while hosting SNL and while presenting at the Oscars. A lot of stars have been normalizing the idea is that it’s chic to repeat and Tiffany has been one of the loudest voices in that fight. “I feel like I should be able to wear what I want, when I want, no matter how many times I want, as long as I Febreezed it,” she hysterically said while she was hosting SNL. I wonder if Law would allow Tiffany to do it again. She is making the coins now to hire one of the biggest stylists in the world and has been wearing coveted brands like Michael Kors, Brandon Maxwell, and more and so that gown does not make an appearance in my wishes for her MTV Movie & Television Awards hostess wardrobe. The red carpet at the MTV Movie & Television Awards is usually a little more casual than most awards shows. It usually calls for great cocktail ensembles and gowns are usually left at home, but for I feel like Tiffany would luxe it up since she is the host. She might be the only one in a gown on the red carpet, but I would love to see her step out on Monday wearing this white Brandon Maxwell Resort 2019 one shoulder gown which features pleating on the hip and shoulder, asymmetrical neckline, and a thigh high side slit. It really isn’t what anyone would expect to see on this red carpet, but I really do think that Tiffany would own this look on the red carpet. Style it with a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, white Christian Louboutin ‘Choca Spikes’ silver spike studded sandals, and a selection of Fernando Jorge jewels including a pair of white topaz and diamond ‘Fusion Trapeze’ earrings and a matching ‘Fusion Cross’ ring and Tiffany would kick the night off in high style.  For the actual telecast show I picked five different looks for Tiffany to rock. To kick off the show I went with a discotheque inspired Prabal Gurung Resort 2019 bi-color sequined jumpsuit which features a plunging halter neckline, bow knotted waist, and wide leg pants. A fun and sparking jumpsuit like this would definitely be a great moment for Tiffany to kick off her show especially when paired with a sleek ponytail, smokey eyes, nude lips, Hueb ‘Luminous’ diamond feather earrings, and a pair of navy Christian Louboutin ‘Eloise’ pointed toe pumps.

Following that jumpsuit I picked probably the most unlikely of my wishes. We rarely see Balenciaga on the red carpet anymore. Ever since Demma Gvasalia took over the reigns of the brand back in 2016 there have been very few moments from the brand despite there being several red carpet worthy pieces in the collections. I definitely think that black and white zebra print Balenciaga Fall 2018 RTW draped jersey dress which features long sleeves, a plunging neckline, and calf cutouts is something that Tiffany would be drawn to and I think that for the MTV Movie & Television Awards stage that it would be a perfect option. Pair it with red Oscar de la Renta tasseled beaded silk earrings, sleek hair, red lips, smokey eyes, and a pair of black Giuseppe Zanotti crystal encrusted satin wing sandals to really make this a great moment.

I just learned about New York based designer Victor Glemaud when I saw his Resort 2019 on Vogue Runway. Then the next day I saw Issa Rae had picked a gown from the collection for her hosting wardrobe at the CFDA Awards. I definitely feel like this bright, bold lime Victor Glemaud Resort 2019 long sleeve midi sweater dress which features a high neck and cutout back and thought that it would add a bright spot to the wardrobe that Tiffany would bring to this stage. I think that with a sleek low bun, smokey eye, pink lips, and gold Gucci crystal hand embellished sandals that this look would be perfect for the MTV stage.

Another fun look I’ve picked for Tiffany to wear is also hot off the runway. While the Moschino Resort 2019 circus themed runway was definitely a mishmash of clown and couture I do think that there are some looks that have real potential to be great red carpet moments. This sequin cheetah print mini dress which features a v-neck, poufy short sleeves, and ruching details is one of those looks. I feel like that with a simple pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Cupidetta’ leather and PVC pumps, sleek pony, smokey eyes, and nude lips that this would be a purrrrrr-fect look for Tiffany.

The final look I’ve picked for Tiffany is from a brand that has dressed her many times, and most recently for the 2018 Tony Awards. Michael Kors has been a good friend to both Tiffany and Law (her stylist) so it really would surprise me if one of her looks on this stage wouldn’t come from him. This 60’s mod blue and black Michael Kors Resort 2019 long sleeve sequin mini dress is perfect for Tiffany and would close out the show in high style. Adding a pair of black Tom Ford strass-cap toe illusion pumps, smokey eyes, red lips, and diamond and sapphire Hueb ‘Spectrum’ cluster earrings would finish out her looks perfection.

The 2018 MTV Movie & Television Awards will take place on Monday June 18, 2018.
