2018 Tony Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 4

So many stars of stage and screen are set to descend upon the red carpet at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on Sunday night for the 2018 Tony Awards. I am a huge Broadway fan. In fact while I am writing all of these Tony Awards wishes I am listing to the soundtracks of this years nominated shows! I usually have a clear favorite going into the awards, but I have to say that while the soundtracks are good there isn’t one I would listen to on repeat like I have with Spring Awakening, Dear Even Hansen, Hamilton, Waitress, Wicked, and The Lion King. I will say that while I might not be thrilled with this years shows I am really excited to see what all the stars of stage and screen are going to bring to the red carpet!Ariana DeBose plays Disco Donna in Summer: The Donna Summer Musical and that performance has earned her a Tony nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a Featured Role in a Musical. I don’t know anything about Ariana’s style. I did a little looking, but there isn’t much for me to go on to help me pick a gown for her to rock on Sunday. Ultimately I decided to go with bold color, dramatic shape, and crisp draping picking this electric blue Greta Constantine one-shoulder asymmetric draped gown which features a caped sleeve train. I honestly had a bit of a struggle when picking a gown for Ariana. I have seen so many different styles from tomboy to flirty and feminine that she has worn in the past, so I was at a loss for what the right dress would be. I won’t lie even as I am writing this wish I am still not 100% sold that this would be the right choice for her, but I do think she could make it work especially if she pairs this look with sleek pulled back curls, soft glitter smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of vintage Cartier diamond and lapis pendant drop earrings, and black Jimmy Choo ‘Misty’ sandals. The Broadway revival of the play Angels in America has garnered a lot of critical praise and is expected to take home a few awards on Sunday night, will Denise Gough be one of them? She is nominated for Best Performance by a Featured Actress in a Play for her performance in the show. We have seen the Irish take red carpets in the past wearing looks from Erdem, Alexander McQueen, and Burberry. Representing brands from her part of the world, and I have a feeling that on Sunday night she will turn to a British brand for her red carpet look. I would love to see Denise step out in a custom Erdem gown since we don’t see his designs on American red carpets very often, but I have a good feeling that she will opt for the safer choice of red carpet staple Jenny Packham. I would love to see Denise show up on the Tony Awards red carpet giving us head to toe dazzle wearing this silver sequin Jenny Packham Fall 2018 RTW cap sleeve gown which features a fit to flare silhouette, deep v-neckline, and crystal embellishments on the sleeves and shoulders. This gown is definitely a statement all on it’s own. The dazzling gown doesn’t need a whole lot in terms of styling as to not compete with all those sequins. I would just add a sleek hairstyle, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of silver Gianvito Rossi strappy sandals, and Djula ‘Beverly Hills’ diamond wreath earrings to really ensure that this is a dazzling and glamorous ensemble from head to toe. Lauren Ambrose, who is nominated for Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical for her performance as the iconic character of Eliza Doolittle in the 2018 Broadway revival of My Fair Lady, is one who tends to like flowy silhouettes and slip gowns when she walks the red carpet. I looked for many gowns for her in those styles, but when I thought about the idea of Lauren wearing this barely mint Brandon Maxwell Spring 2018 RTW strapless drop waist ballgown which features an embroidered animal print all over and a belted waist I was captivated. I think its the red hair, but I get a distinct Jessica Chastain vibe from Lauren so I went out on a limb with this dress. I feel like when it comes to the Tony Awards red carpet we see a lot of the quintessential  New York designers dressing stars for the red carpet and Brandon is quickly becoming one of those quintessential NYC designers. I have wanted to see this ballgown on the red carpet since it was first presented last September and I feel like it would be a perfect statement moment for a nominated Broadway star to rock on the red carpet. I feel like with old Hollywood wave worn over one shoulder, simple defined eyes, red lips, a pair of gold Casadei ‘Blade’ strappy sandals, and a selection of Fred Leighton jewels including antique 19th century gold, diamond, and emerald chandelier earrings and a selection of simple diamond and emerald band rings that Lauren would definitely command this red carpet. Rachel Bloom was the backstage presenter at last years Tony Awards and she enjoyed herself so much that she is back again this year. I go back and forth with my love for Rachel’s style on the red carpet. Sometimes I love what she is wearing and sometimes I feel like she tries too hard. I really want to see something really glamorous from Rachel when she steps onto the 2018 Tony Awards red carpet and that is exactly what I would get from this black Christian Siriano Fall 2018 RTW velvet ensemble which consists of an off the shoulder crystal embellished bodice and a high waist trumpet skirt with a daring side split. This is a femme fatale gown and something we haven’t seen from Rachel before. I think that she would definitely be able to sell this vintage inspired glam gown on this red carpet to me. It isn’t her night so I would be totally okay with this being an absolutely simple and elegant moment for her to rock on this red carpet. To really make this a head to toe perfect moment for Rachel I would style it with with a romantic updo, defined smokey eyes, red lips, a black Calvin Klein crystal embellished envelope clutch, a pair of black Calvin Klein ‘Camelle’ asymmetrical crystal strap sandals, and Hearts on Fire ‘Triplicity Tassel’ diamond drop earrings.Tatiana Maslany, who stared in and was nominated for an Emmy for her performance in Orphan Black, will be one of five actors to play the title role in Tracy Letts’ play Mary Page Marlowe later this year and will be on hand this Sunday at the Tony Awards. I have to say I know that Tatiana has the potential to wow me on the red carpet, but often times I finder her looking very underwhelming or overwhelmed by what she is wearing. For her look on Sunday I went for edgy princess picking this navy and black Oscar de la Renta windowpane chiffon ball gown which features a sleeveless design, plunging neckline and back, and a full skirt. I don’t usually think of ballgowns when I think of Tatiana’s style. She is much more of an edgy or tomboy kind of girl, but the dark nature of this gown I think would make for a perfect Tony Awards moment for Tatiana. I think that if she styled this gown with a romantic updo, kohl rimmed eyes, red lips, a navy satin Oscar de la Renta box clutch, navy Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Sophie’ sandals, and Yeprem diamonds including a pair of ‘Bellflower’ cluster earrings and the ‘Never After’ vine necklace that this would be one of Tatiana’s best red carpet moments ever.

The 2018 Tony Awards will take place on Sunday June 10, 2018.
