The Cannes Film Festival brings together so many different styles of films and I am looking forward to seeing what all of the international stars will bring to the red carpets over the festival. I find it impossible to know absolutely everyone that will be presenting a film at the festival, but there are a few names whom I can pick out.One of those names is Italian actress Alba Rohrwacher who will be on hand to help promote her sisters film Lazzaro Felice, in which she also stars. Alba has a very up and down sense of style in my opinion. She tends to stick to Valentino, Prada, Louis Vuitton, and Miu Miu when it comes to her red carpet looks. I did stick to that set of brands for my wishes for her to wear on the red carpets at this years festival. For the photocall I went with a strong black and white look from the Louis Vuitton Fall 2018 RTW collection which features a black and white rounded shoulder and blouson sleeve top and a black pencil skirt. Alba doesn’t often do very detailed looks, or color that often, so I definitely think that this Louis Vuitton ensemble would be right up her ally. I would pair it with black strappy Louis Vuitton Pre-Fall 2018 pumps, easy waves, defined eyes, and nude lips to really make this a beautiful moment for Alba. For the premiere of Lazzaro Felice I kept it all black but a look that is full of details perfect for Alba. I think that this black Valentino Spring 2018 Couture gown which features a high ruffled neck, long sleeves, an a-line skirt, sheer details, and metallic thread work. This is more of a detailed look than we are used to seeing Alba wear, but I think for the Cannes red carpet that she would be able to really make this a major moment. This is the big gala premiere of the day so I say that Alba should definitely go for it. I would love to see her take a little more effort this year with regards to her beauty pairing this gown with a sleek updo and red lips. A pair of black Valentino ‘Free Rockstud’ sandals and a pair of simple Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and emerald drop earrings all would really add the perfect finishing touches to this look. Including all her party, day time, and premiere looks Cate Blanchett’s stylist says she’s put together about 20 looks. I’ve definitely surpassed that. If I was working with Cate I would be pushing her to attend every gala screening from the beginning of the festival to the end, plus a few parties. I absolutely adore Cate’s style and she is using this platform as the president of the Cannes Film Festival jury to convey different messages through her wardrobe. She proved it’s chic to repeat re-wearing her 2014 Armani Prive Golden Globes gown. Now we haven’t seen her out on a red carpet since, but I am hoping that she will bring some variation and not just repeat past gowns over the course of the festival. Now with that being said I am not opposed to delving into designer archives. I did that in the case of this wish. I think that Cate would deliver a really chic, regal, and glamorous moment wearing this ivory Ralph & Russo Spring 2017 Couture column gown which features a navy satin lined train and intricate beaded embroidery. Cate has never graced a red carpet wearing Ralph & Russo before and since the brand has such a heart in Cannes where would be a better place for her to bring this dramatic look to life on the red carpet. Add a romantic updo, defined eyes, a pale red lip, navy mix Jimmy Choo ‘Selina’ satin sandals, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewels including diamond and sapphire drop earrings and a blue opal and diamond flower ring all would really ensure that this is going to be a really regal moment for the red carpet queen.Ava DuVernay kinda let me down with her custom Prada gown at the opening ceremony. It was pretty, but to me would have been better suited for one of the in-between premieres or a party than the opening ceremony on a jury member. This deep blue Alexander McQueen gown which features crystal diamante embroidery, caped bodice, fitted waist, and a slightly flared hem would definitely be a really dramatic and glamorous look for the screenwriter and director. She knows how to do modest glamour really well and I do think that this gown would suit her style even though its a cape and not long sleeves. It would add a bit of variation to her looks than we are used to seeing. A pair of navy Aquazzura ‘Portrait of a Lady’ crystal embellished slingback pumps, a bun of braids, defined eyes, nude lips, and a pair of simple Chopard diamond and sapphire chandelier earrings all would make this a really beautiful moment for Ava. Kristen Stewart made my Met Gala wish for her come true at the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony and I am hoping that she will make a few more of mine come true over the course of the festival this year as well. One gown I would love to see Kristen wear is this white and silver Chanel Spring 2017 Couture column gown which features a plunging neckline, belted waist, sequin bodice and hips, a pouf of feathers at the knees, and a sheer embellished hem. I think I’ve picked this gown for someone to wear for every major red carpet since it was presented back in January of 2017 and I honestly can’t believe that it hasn’t been worn yet. As a face of Chanel I think that while it is flashier than we are used to seeing from Kristen that this would be a really glamorous moment for her. Pair it with a sleek updo, defined smokey eyes, red lips, a pair of silver Casadei embellished strap sandals, and a very modern Messika ‘Austral’ diamond collar necklace to really see Kristen’s style influence on this gown. Lea Seydoux finally gave me a Louis Vuitton gown to love on the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony. While that gives me hope that she will bring some great LV moments to the festivals red carpets I am still hoping that we will see her branch out a few times. One gown I would love to see Lea bring to life on the Cannes red carpet is this lavender liquid sequin Armani Prive Spring 2016 Couture strapless ballgown. Often we see Lea in strong, vibrant colors on the red carpet so something softer like this Armani Prive ball gown. It is very feminine, statement making but in a more subdued way. Where this gown has the potential to really become a major wow moment is in the styling so I would add a 40’s inspired updo, winged eyeliner, soft pink lips, silver Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass PVC’ crystal embellished pumps, and a selection of Chopard Red Carpet Collection jewels including statement amethyst and purple coral drop earrings and a gorgeous amethyst cocktail ring to really ensure that this is an absolutely beautiful moment for the actress and jury member.
The 2018 Cannes Film Festival is officially open and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018. The premiere of Lazzaro Felice will take place on Monday May 14, 2018.
