The Cannes Film Festival brings together stars from all over the globe. So far I have brought my wishes for the ladies who represent L’Oreal, usual guests, the juries, and the opening ceremony. Now here we are are the wishes I have to premieres. Mostly now we are at one set of wishes a day. We are just one week out from this years festival and I have to say that the selection of films this year is lacking in mega watt Hollywood stars, but there are still quite a few international stars whom I am looking forward to seeing promote their films on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet this year. Iranian actress Golshifteh Farahani is one of those stars. She will be presenting her film Girls in the Sun at this years festival and after giving several Chanel moments on the red carpet recently I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet. I usually don’t pick the same designer for a star to wear to both the photocall and premiere of their films, but in Golshifteh’s case I decided to do just that. For the photocall I went with an off white Chanel Spring 2018 RTW tweed jumpsuit which features cap sleeves, rounded neck, and cropped wide leg pants. This is a chic moment and I totally think that it would come across as a really glamorous moment for a photocall overlooking the French Riviera. The setting of the photocall I always feel needs looks that are light and airy. While this structured dress shouldn’t naturally be seen as airy it does have this very light style about it and I definitely think that it would be a beautiful photocall moment for Golshifteh, especially when paired with loose curls, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of white Christian Louboutin ‘Cage And Curry’ strappy cage mules, and a Chopard diamond and emerald hoop earrings. For the premiere I surprised myself. In Cannes for a film premiere, especially as a star of the film, I almost always believe that one should wear a full length gown. But for the red carpet premiere of Girls of the Sun I went tea length for Golshifteh with this dusty rose silk Chanel Spring 2018 Couture gown which features a plunging neckline, bow details on the shoulders, and a flared skirt. I do think that if anyone could sell this look to me on the red carpet in Cannes that Golshifteh would be able to bring an ease and elegance to the red carpet with this design. Style it with vintage inspired finger waves, defined eyes, a rose pink lip, silver crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ clutch, dusty rose Jimmy Choo ‘Thassia’ crystal embellished sandals, and a pair of ruby Chopard Red Carpet Collection cluster flower earrings to really ensure that this look screams glamour from head to toe. Cate Blanchett is a queen of the red carpet and the president of this years jury. I have so many wishes for the glamizon actress that I actually had a hard time narrowing down all my options for her. I knew I wanted to make a wish for a major Alexander McQueen moment so I went on the hunt for the perfect gown. I dug deep into the McQueen archives to find this ivory Alexander Spring 2012 RTW gown which features an intricate pearl embellished bodice, a ruffled/tier/swagged silk column skirt, and a sweeping train. There are two people in the world who I would trust to really sell this gown to me: Cate and Tilda Swinton. I definitely think those two women would wear this gown in very different ways and I can see Cate really making this a vintage inspired regal moment with a romantic updo, defined eyes, soft pink lips, an ivory tulle and pearl embellished Alexander McQueen ‘King and Queen’ clasp clutch, gold Alexander McQueen ‘Heart’ sandals, and vintage Van Cleef & Arpels jewels including gold set pendant pearl earrings and a diamond and pearl cuff bracelet. I’ve mentioned that a lot of the gowns I’ve picked for director and jury member Ava DuVernay to wear over the course of this years festival are off the rack. I have a feeling that many of her gowns will be custom designed by her favorite designers, but I found many options off the racks that fit Ava’s very modest sense of style. I would love to see Ava deliver this pastel blue Rochas a-line gown which features cap sleeves, a v-neckline, and a jeweled dragonfly on the waist at some point over the course of this festival. I feel the glamour of Rochas fits Ava’s style perfectly and this would be such a chic moment. Style it with a half up/half down braided hairstyle, smokey eyes, nude lips, a pastel blue satin Rochas embellished logo clutch, a pair of gold Rochas sandals with a crystal embellished heel, and Chopard diamond and tanzanite chandelier earrings to really unsure this look is nothing but elegant glamour. As a face of Louis Vuitton I’m sure that Lea Seydoux’s 2018 Cannes Film Festival jury wardrobe will be dominated with looks from the brand, but I am hoping for some diversity in the brands that she decides to show love to on the festivals red carpets. She has been known to rock a glamorous look from Schiaparelli here and there and I think that she would be the perfect person to pull this gold velvet Schiaparelli Fall 2015 Couture draped gown which features embellishment on the shoulders, neck, back, and waist and a dramatic train out of the archive and give it a red carpet moment. This gown is pure old Hollywood glamour and I definitely think that Lea would really be able to sell this design to me on the red carpet. I would keep the old Hollywood glamour of this look going with a chic 40’s inspired updo, winged eyes, soft red lips, a pair of gold Louis Vuitton ‘Hypnotic’ sandals, and a pair of Chopard yellow diamond chandelier earrings. Picking a ball gown for Kristen Stewart is definitely a risk. She hasn’t worn a full skirted gown since the early days of her Twilight years, but there was just something about this Brandon Maxwell Fall 2018 RTW ensemble which features a cap sleeve white t-shirt bodice and a rose pink satin ball skirt that just spoke to me. I feel like it balanced causal and glamour so well and that is exactly what I think would lead to the perfect red carpet moment for Kristen. I mean if anyone is going to get really excited about wearing a t-shirt for a formal red carpet I know it would be Kristen and I definitely think that she would sell this look to me on the red carpet. I would edge the look up with brown diamond Maison Dauphin ‘Fluid’ earrings, a sleek hairstyle, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of black, rose gold and silver Malone Souliers strappy sandals to really make this feel like a very authentic casual meets glam princess moment for Kristen.
