Chloë Sevigny is on the jury of the 2018 Cannes Film Festival Critics Week side bar selection. I am quite interested in seeing what Chloë will bring to the red carpet at this years festival. While she probably won’t be seen on as many red carpets as the feature film jury members, but I am hoping that we see several major moments from the actress on the red carpet over the course of the festival. We’ve seen Chloë bring to life looks from brands like Balenciaga, Chanel, and Alessandra Rich on red carpets during the festival over the years. There are so many designers that Chloë is a friend of that could bring some moments to the festival this year and I am praying that she earns at least one place on my Best of Cannes list. The first look I’ve picked for Chloë to bring to the red carpet at the festival is from a designer we have seen her rock on red carpets before, Alessandra Rich. I love how the designer re-imagined the 40’s and the 80’s and I definitely think that Chloë would own the red carpet at the festival wearing this purple silk satin Alessandra Rich Fall 2018 RTW ruched gown which features long sleeves, a plunging neckline, crystal detailing at the waistline, and a high-low hem with ruffles. This isn’t the typical gown you would expect to see on the red carpet during Cannes, but I definitely think that Chloë would be able to sell it to me. I love the oversized matching clutch and I would totally keep it because it adds another layer to the quirk of the look. Finished with a pair of black Prada crystal heel sandals, sleek low bun, defined eyes, bright red lips, and statement Chopard ‘Garden of Kalahari’ diamond earrings this would definitely be a real statement making moment for Chloë.Chloë has never worn an Elie Saab gown on the red carpet, but what better place than the Cannes Film Festival red carpet to made a partnership with the red carpet king. I would love to see Chloë deliver this 40’s meets Victoriana moment wearing this black Elie Saab Fall 2018 RTW gown which features a velvet bodice, puffy shoulders, long sleeves, intricate gold beaded embroidery, a chiffon skirt with a sexy split. It’s a really glamorous moment and I definitely think that Chloë would own it to the red carpet with a vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a gold Serupi glitter clutch, black Nicholas Kirkwood ‘VV’ pumps, and a pair of vintage gold and diamond cluster earrings.
Gucci is a brand that we have seen Chloë rock on the red carpet several times. She was recently seen front row at the brands Fall 2018 RTW show, but instead of picking a gown from that collection I went to the Gucci Pre-Fall collection for the perfect gown for Chloë to rock on a Cannes red carpet. We don’t often see prints on the Cannes red carpet, but I think that Chloë would definitely be able to bring this yellow and blue floral print Gucci Pre-Fall 2018 long sleeve, bohemian inspired gown which features a crystal embellished bustier. It’s not your typical Cannes gown, but Chloë would be the person to sell it to me. A romantic updo, defined eyes, nude lips, a peacock blue satin Inge Christoper Swarovski crustal embellished lock clutch, nude Gucci patent leather pumps, and a pair of vintage 14k gold set sapphire and diamond earrings from Beladora would all add the perfect finishing touches to this look.
I’m back to designers that Chloë has never worn on the red carpet. I think that she would be one of the few who could take this navy velvet Prabal Gurung Fall 2018 RTW gown which features contrast red tie detailing at the waist and a cape back and really own it on the red carpet. I feel like she would take this very dramatic look and really style it up for the red carpet and the perfect styling for this gown (to me) would be a red Elie Saab clutch, a braided updo, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of red Aquazzura ‘Lily of the Valley’ sandals, and vintage ruby and diamond ear clips from Beladora.
The final gown I’ve picked for Chloë to bring to life on a Cannes Film Festival red carpet is probably my favorite and yet another designer she has never worn on the red carpet. I feel like everyone in Cannes should have a Ralph & Russo moment at one point or another. The brand has made a home in Cannes and their dramatic and glamorous designs just fit right in on the steps of the Palais. I think that Chloë would absolutely wow everyone by taking the red carpet in this pale grey Ralph & Russo Fall 2017 Couture a-line gown which features a ruffled neckline, intricate silver embroidery, a tiered ruffle hem, and a sweeping train. This is the most dramatic and stereotypical glamorous of these wishes and I definitely think that Chloë is one of the few people would could really take this gown and sell it to me on the red carpet. It is such a statement that simple styling will be key. A sleek low bun, defined eyes, nude lips, a silver Rodo crystal embellished hard shell clutch, a pair of silver Sophia Webster ‘Coco Crystal’ crystal embellished heel pumps, and Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Collection diamond leaf cluster earrings would all ensure that this look is glamorous perfection from head to toe.
The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.
