Cannes 2018: L’Orealistas Red Carpet Wish List Part 6

The glamour of Cannes comes in part because of the lovely ladies that L’Oreal Paris sends to represent the brand on the red carpets at the festival. L’Oreal employs some of the most glamorous women (and a couple of men) in the world and invites them to the festival to help promote glamour and elegance. Last year supermodel Amber Heard brought something unexpected to the red carpet wearing an orange floral print Mulberry cocktail dress. She was the only L’Orealista to walk the red carpet at the festivals 2PM premiere slot. It was a cool moment and a great unexpected moment on the red carpet at the festival. My wishes that I have for her to wear this year I am making more of a glamour moment on the Cannes red carpets this year. I honestly thought that this light pink Atelier Versace Spring 2018 Couture draped and embellished gown was going to be worn on the festivals red carpet last year. I has really surprised me that it has been a little over a year since this gown was first presented and that it still hasn’t been worn. I feel like Amber would look beautiful wearing this glamorous gown on the red carpet. She knows how to work a gown and I think that bringing this gown to the Cannes red carpet would be one of her most dramatic moments ever. The second look I’ve chosen for Amber to rock on the red carpet is this black and gold Stella McCartney one shoulder fil coupé silk-blend chiffon gown which features a pleated bodice  and a floor-sweeping skirt which falls in tiers for volume and movement. This is another very chic gown and I think that Amber is a perfect person to bring the brand to the Cannes red carpet. This gown is glamorous, but she could make an appearance wearing a custom gown from the brand too. The final look I want to see Amber rock on this red carpet is short. Last year Anthony Vaccarello’s Saint Laurent dominated the red carpets. So many of the brands signature mini dresses were worn and it honestly became difficult to keep track of them. I am hoping that this year while I have plenty of YSL looks in my wishes that each one will be a little different than the last. I think that Amber is the perfect person to bring this black and red Saint Laurent Fall 2018 RTW long sleeve mini dress which features a draped skirt with an asymmetrical hem and a plunging neckline. It is sexy and glamorous and while I have some custom Saint Laurent gowns inspired by this collection I think that Amber would be one of the few who I think could own the red carpet in the runways mini dress. Doutzen Kroes is one that I usually have high expectations for with her red carpet looks, and more often than not I feel like I am let down. Her looks at last years festival which included custom Balmain and custom BOSS were among some of her best looks ever, and I am praying that her looks this year are just as good. Two years ago Doutzen brought (an already worn) Brandon Maxwell gown to Cannes and I went back to the brand for her to rock this year as well. While pants on ladies at the Cannes Film Festival isn’t really a norm, I think that Doutzen would be one of the few who could sell this black Brandon Maxwell Fall 2018 RTW ensemble which features a mirror pleat one shoulder sash train top and a pair of black pebble crepe flared leg pants. I really do believe that this look paired with statement earrings and sleek updo all would be another really stunning look for Doutzen to rock on the red carpet in Cannes. Following that I went a little more avant garde with this nude silk chiffon Tom Ford Spring 2018 RTW which features draped pleating, strong shoulders, a cape neck, and long sequined sleeves. Doutzen is always front row at Tom Ford shows and almost always she wears a gown, this would be a really chic moment for her to take off the runway and bring to the Cannes red carpet. Maybe she can get herself invited to the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story because this futuristic gown is perfect for the theme of that film. The final look I’ve picked for Doutzen to rock this year is another pants look, but one that reads more like a gown. Doutzen has been loving some oversized silhouettes recently and I think that this red Valentino Fall 2018 RTW strapless jumpsuit which features a pleated center and wide leg palazzo pants would definitely be something right up her ally. It might not be my favorite moment of hers, but I do believe that it is something that she would be drawn to.It surprised me last year that Freida Pinto flew into Cannes attended a casual panel conference, wearing Prabal Gurung, and flew out without making an appearance on the festivals main red carpet. She has worn some really beautiful looks in the past from designers like Gucci, Atelier Versace, Oscar de la Renta, and Michael Kors. I am really hoping that she will bring the glamour back to the Cannes Film Festival this year. I know that she can make a whole lot of glamour on the red carpet over the course of the festival. Up first in my wishes for Freida to wear this year is a pale blush one shoulder Elie Saab Spring 2018 Couture gown which features a feathered neckline, intricate floral embroidery, and a daring thigh high split. This is definitely a really sexy take on glamour and I definitely think that Freida will sell it to me on this red carpet. Something much more simply glamorous for Freida would be this black Schiaparelli Spring 2018 Couture sleeveless column gown which features a plunging neckline, silver crosshatch beading, a small peplum waist, and a tulle overlay. I feel like this is definitely a gown that we will see on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet and I do believe that Freida will make this a beautiful moment on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. I went to another dramatic shoulder gown with this white one sleeved Vionnet Fall 2018 RTW gown which features a patch of braided plaid detail on the shoulder and sleeve. This (like the Tom Ford gown I picked for Doutzen) would be a great gown to see Freida rock on the red carpet for the premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story and it gives me a little alien drama and I would just ask why not? Brazilian supermodel Isabeli Fontana has definitely had her fair share of glamorous gowns on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet, but the most dramatic moment she’s had at the festival came last year where she wore a fuchsia Alberta Ferretti gown on the red carpet at the Palais de Festivals. I am hoping that she brings the glamour yet again this year. The first look is from the same designer that Isabeli wore for the Fashion For Relief Gala at last years festival, Celia Kritharioti. The Greek couturier showed a very beautiful collection for Spring 2018 Couture and I definitely think that Isabeli would be the perfect person to bring this white sleeveless column gown which features a beaded neckline, feathered bodice, and a simple skirt to life on the Cannes red carpet. This gown is rather simple, but still incredibly glamorous and if anyone could sell it to me that a supermodel would be the perfect person. Following that I went to something much more standard with this black Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda Fall 2014 mermaid gown which features thick straps and a sweeping train. This gown is nothing new for sure, but it is a canvas for Isabeli to rock some really statement making jewels. And going even further back the gown I would most like to see Isabeli rock on this years red carpets is this slate blue Elie Saab Fall 2008 Couture strapless gown which features a draped taffeta bodice and a flowing chiffon skirt. Having been sitting in the Elie Saab archive for a decade now I think that this is the case of right girl right event to really make this gown come to life.Last year Natasha Poly was the date of designer Jason Wu as he attended the premiere of his good friend Diane Kruger’s film In The Fade where she wore a sleek modern glam custom BOSS gown. Over the years we have seen the Russian supermodel bring designers including (but not limited to) Oscar de la Renta, Roberto Cavalli, Prada, Gucci, Michael Kors, and Atelier Versace to the red carpet and I am praying that she will bring to the red carpets this year. The first gown I’ve picked for Natasha to rock in Cannes is the only designer on this list that she has worn in Cannes before, Atelier Versace. I do believe that she would be a perfect candidate to bring this bronze Atelier Versace Fall 2017 Couture caped gown which features sheer construction, intricate beading, and cutout designs to life on the red carpet. In my wish for Danai Gurira to wear this gown for the Met Gala I said “Before a model snatches this gown up and delivers it in a really tacky manner on the red carpet in Cannes I want to see Danai grab it and make it a warrior glam moment,” but if Natasha snatched this gown up I don’t believe that this gown would be tacky at all. Natasha could make the sheer detailing of this gown come across as chic and not tacky or tired which is how I would feel is most would wear this gown on the red carpet. Following that I went to a gown that just defined glamour for me with this silver Moschino Pre-Fall 2018 beaded fringe column gown which features a tank top style neckline. I don’t believe that Natasha has ever worn Moschino or Jeremy Scott on the red carpet and I do believe that this would be a really chic moment for her to make a debut in the brand. Finally I went to Stephane Rolland who has had some of his best red carpet moments in Cannes. I think a great ballgown moment would be really beautiful for Natasha and this white Stephane Rolland Spring 2018 Couture ball gown which features a cap sleeve top and a draped ball skirt with silver details would definitely be a real modern glam statement gown for her to bring to the Cannes Film Festival red carpets.

The 2018 Cannes Film Festival opens Tuesday May 8, 2018 and will run through Saturday May 19, 2018.
