2018 Met Gala Red Carpet Wish List Part 13

It’s hard for me to believe that there are just two days of 2018 Met Gala wishes left. Don’t let you think that means that these are the bottom of the barrel wishes though. Today and tomorrow have wishes that I am really excited about for a-list regulars and some new stars who I think will become regulars. Coming up with the wishes I have for the Met Gala is kinda tricky. Aside from the gala’s co-hosts (which this year include Anna Wintour, Rihanna, Amal Clooney, and Donatella Versace) I don’t have any intel on who else will be on the red carpet. We are 20 days out and I have learned that Sarah Jessica Parker, Andy Cohen, Blake Lively and Hailey Baldwin are all planning on attending, but that is it. I would also think it is safe to say that George Clooney and Ryan Reynolds are also a sure bet since their wives will be attending. Blake Lively consistently shuts it down on the Met Gala red carpet. She made her debut 10 years ago in 2008 as a guest of Ralph Lauren back in the early days of Gossip Girl. Since then she as rocked Versace off the runway, Marchesa, Chanel Couture, Gucci Premiere (in 2013 and 2014,) Burberry, and most recently Atelier Versace. E! News reports that her dress is already in the works and it’s taken over 600 hours to make, and it’s not even finished yet. They say it is heavily beaded and that is exactly what this gold crystal mesh Atelier Versace Spring 2018 Couture draped gown which features dramatic slashed cape like sleeves, a bodysuit to protect some modesty (no visible bras or panties,) plunging neckline, and intricate red and green rock crystal embellishments on the shoulders and waist is. It really frustrates me that Donatella decided not to release a lookbook for this collection and all I have to rely on are Instagram’s from the collections private presentation during Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week. While Blake did wear gold Atelier Versace gown for last years Met Gala I think that this is definitely the biggest contender for a gown for Blake to rock on the red carpet this year. Blake told Women’s Wear Daily “I just sent Lorraine Schwartz and Christian Louboutin my dress, and said, ‘Ok let’s do something special. They’re making something custom for it…So it’s kind of nice, because I have a bunch of artists around me who I have direct relationships with. It’s sort of a group effort with that. I rely on people who do that for a living rather than outsourcing it to someone else.” So it was easy for me to head out and pick the styling for this look. I think that with sleek old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, red lips, a pair of gold Christian Louboutin ‘Golden Blake’ platform sandals with a tired fringe embellished heel, and Lorraine Schwartz diamond and ruby chandelier earrings that this would be another absolutely beautiful Met Gala moment for Blake.Emily Ratajkowski has been on the Met Gala red carpet the last three years where she has worn Marc Jacobs, Prabal Gurung, and Topshop. I would love to see Emily return to the famed steps lending her supermodel status to help bring Marchesa back to the red carpet. Recently for the first time since the Harvey Weinstein scandal broke his estranged soon-to-be ex-wife, and Marchesa co-founder and designer, Georgina Chapman returned to the brands atelier to work. I read an article in The Hollywood Reporter recently that talked a little about how the brand is planning its comeback out of the shadows of this scandal to which it sadly got attached. I think that after reading that article that we are very likely to see the brand on the Met Gala red carpet. I think that Emily would definitely be a perfect name to help put the brand back on the map. I think that the brand just needs one big star to wear the brand and answer the question of “why?,” and the world of celebrity would be able to fall back in line with Marchesa. I think that Emily would own this crimson Marchesa Fall 2018 RTW strapless tulle drop waist gown which gown features a sweetheart neckline, a fitted bodice, and a full cascading skirt. It is definitely more covered, dramatic, and glamorous than we are used to seeing Emily wearing on the red carpet, but I think that she would definitely own it on the red carpet. The gown is definitely a statement on it’s own and I think that it would be perfectly complimented with a romantic updo, smokey eyes, matching crimson lips, a pair of nude Christian Louboutin ‘Degrastrass PVC Lea Nue’ crystal embellished pumps, and vintage David Webb diamond and ruby chunky drop earrings.Kate Bosworth is one of my favorite stars to see on the red carpet. She owns her elegance and glamour on the red carpet in such a chic, simple, and sophisticated way. Looking at her looks from the last decades worth of Met Gala’s Kate has never worn the same designer twice. She has worn Tory Burch, Dolce & Gabbana, Stella McCartney, Balmain, Prada, Valentino Couture, and Chanel over the years and yet again I want to see her add another designer to that list. Kate isn’t exactly the first person I would normally think of when I think of Off White, but I really do think that she would take this nude Off White c/o Virgil Abloh Fall 2018 RTW asymmetrical ball gown which features a one shoulder neckline and allover tulle construction and really own it on this red carpet. It might be similar to the Dior Couture that she just wore for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party and the less avant garde sister of the Off White gown Lorde has put into her Melodrama World Tour wardrobe, but I do really think that this would be a beautiful moment for Kate to wear on the Met Gala red carpet. Accessorizing this gown with a champagne Jimmy Choo ‘Cloud’ pearl clasp satin clutch with crystal bead embroidery, a pair of nude crystal embellished Jimmy Choo ‘Lance’ sandals, and Piaget rose gold set pearl tassel earrings would add the perfect sparkling compliments to this gown. A 1920’s inspired wavy updo, simple defined eyes, and dusty rose would all ensure that this look is nothing but head to toe glamour defined. I cannot believe that Lady Gaga has only walked the Met Gala red carpet twice, once in 2016 wearing Atelier Versace and in 2015 wearing custom Balenciaga by Alexander Wang. She has been seen inside having skipped the red carpet during the first two times shes been to the Met Gala in 2011 and 2010 where she wore simple Prada designs both times. I won’t lie I was sad when I learned that the release of Lady Gaga’s iteration of the classic Barbra Streisand film A Star Is Born was pushed to the end of the year for awards season competition purposes. I was hoping that she would be one of the big stars on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet this year, as the film would have been prime for a gala screening at this years festival. I had been saving this white feathered Francesco Scognamiglio Fall 2017 Couture long sleeve gown which features a high neck, strong shoulders, and a sweeping train for that promo tour. It reminds me of the vintage inspired burlesque drama of the 30’s and 40’s which I think Gaga would own on the red carpet for a movie premiere, but I also think that it could add that twist on angelic, dramatic glamour that I think would be really chic for the religious theme of this years gala. Gaga loves a good religious reference so I feel like she would own the red carpet this year. She will probably be another of Donatalla’s angels on this red carpet, but I think that this Scognamiglio moment would be absolute slay-age. The gown is such a statement on it’s own that I think that I would keep the styling just as glamorous with a sleek dramatic bouffant, silver glitter smokey eyes, red lips, white Christian Louboutin ‘Fetish Peep’ peep toe platform pumps, and a single Messika ‘Mono Boucle Solena Maya’ diamond fringe earrings.Rosie Huntington-Whiteley usually delivers a really glamorous look on the red carpet. They aren’t usually on theme, ever overly dramatic, or best dressed worthy (for the event itself.) She is absolutely beautiful and glamorous. As a friend of the house of Burberry (she wore the brand for the Met Gala in 2010, 2011, and 2012) could she be the person to rock the debut red carpet creation from the brands newest creative director Riccardo Tisci? I would think that is unlikely but one never really knows. She has also worn Gucci, Balmain, Atelier Versace, and Ralph Lauren in past years. Rosie was a huge friend of Clare Waight Keller when she was the creative director of Chloé and now I would love to see Rosie wearing Clare’s first couture collection for Givenchy on the Met Gala red carpet. I think that Rosie would own the red carpet wearing this black Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture column gown which features long sleeves, side cutouts, leather waistband, and silver beaded fringe dotting the skirt. The sleek silhouette of this gown is made visual with the embellishment on the skirt and I think that the statuesque former Victoria’s Secret model would just own the red carpet in this design. A sleek center parted low bun, defined eyes, glossy nude lips, a black clutch, a pair of black satin Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ sandals, and delicate floral motif Nirav Modi ‘Mughal’ collection diamond cluster earrings all would make this another perfect moment for Rosie.

The 2018 Met Gala will take place on the first Monday in May. May 7, 2018.
