There are just two stars on today’s miscellaneous nominees wish list. I always save this one for big names who get nominated in the directing, foreign language, men’s acting, and screenwriting categories that deliver some really great looks on the red carpet. There weren’t that many this year that I wanted to feature so I am keeping this one brief. Just wishes for Greta Gerwig and Timothee Chalamet. When it came down to Greta Gerwig’s Oscar gown I was highly conflicted. I wasn’t 100% sold on anything. I was having conversations about picking the Brandon Maxwell pants ensemble that I ended up putting on my wish list for Greta to wear for the Vanity Fair party as my wish for her to rock on the main red carpet. But aside from Celine Dion in her infamous backwards Dior by John Galliano tuxedo and Gaga in her gown over pants Brandon Maxwell ensemble, there wasn’t much history of red carpet lady pants at the Oscars, so I went back to the drawing board. I was hoping for a really strong gown for Greta right off the Oscar de la Renta runway, but that didn’t exactly happen. There was a chic black velvet gown (which will be on one of my other wish list for this years Oscars,) but after so many red carpet blackouts this year I wanted something with pizazz for Greta. I saw this gold and silver sequined scroll print strapless cocktail dress come down the Oscar de la Renta Fall 2018 RTW runway and I thought it would turn into an amazing gown, so I had a friend of mine do a quick edit, and it did. Greta isn’t really one to do a big dramatic gown, so I think that this statement making sequin gown would really make for the perfect Oscar night gown for the Best Director and Best Original Screenplay nominated starlet. I would add a pair of nude Olgana Paris ‘Amazone’ jeweled asymmetric slingback sandals, sleek yet voluminous hair, defined eyes, rose pink lips, simple diamond stud earrings, and a statement Harry Winston white and yellow diamond necklace to really ensure that Greta really shuts the Oscars red carpet down.Timothee Chalamet has been killing the effortless cool guy style game all awards season long. He has worked Thom Browne, Berluti, Calvin Klein, Gucci, and Saint Laurent on many of the red carpets this awards season. For Sunday night’s Oscars I want to see Timothee take a real risk and give us this statement making black and white Haider Ackermann Spring 2018 Menswear shawl lapel blazer. On the runway this look was paired with a pair of pinstripe pants, but to make the jacket the center of this look I would opt to have Timothee pair it with a pair of solid black pants. Most men don’t take risks on the Oscar’s red carpet. Usually you see black and navy tuxedos, the occasional white dinner jacket. Timothee just oozes effortless cool guy glam and I think that this Haider Ackermann jacket would help to just that. Add a crisp white Haider Ackermann button down shirt, black patent leather Christian Louboutin ‘Samson Orlato’ flat chelsea boots, and a classic black silk Tom Ford bow tie all to ensure that this is a really major style moment for Timothee on the Oscars red carpet.
The 2018 Academy Awards are Sunday March 4, 2018!
