2018 Academy Awards: Best Actress Nominees Red Carpet Wish List

Well that magical time of the year is finally upon us. Over the next week you will be seeing me posting all of my wishes for the nominees, presenters, performers, plus one, and everyone else that will be attending the 2018 Academy Awards next Sunday night. Kicking things off are the strong and beautiful women who are nominated for Best Actress at this years Oscars. I have to say that this years race was one that really surprised me. There were great performances, but there wasn’t a single one that I walked out of a theater saying “(insert name here) is going to win an Oscar because of that role.” I do understand where the nominations came from, but I just wasn’t exuded with excitement for any of the performances this year.Frances McDormand has swept awards season taking home the Golden Globe, Critics Choice, SAG, and BAFTA awards so far this season and it is extremely likely that she is going to take home the coveted little gold man this year for her performance as Mildred Hayes in Three Billboard Outside Ebbing, Missouri. Frances isn’t a fashion plate by any means of the word. She has skipped every single red carpet, and there were 0 photos of her standing alone in the press rooms after winning her awards. What she has been consistent with is wearing Valentino. I will be interested in seeing what she will end up wearing at the Oscars. I went back to Valentino for the perfect look for Frances to wear this year. I think that she would definitely be drawn to this ivory Valentino Spring 2017 Couture off the shoulder gown which features pleated details and long sleeves. It is really chic and simple and I definitely think that it is something that Frances would be drawn to. I would just add a pair of ivory Valentino ‘Rockstud’ chunky heel sandals because Frances isn’t one for lots of styling to her looks either, to ensure she has a chic moment if (and most likely when) she wins next Sunday night. Margot Robbie’s performance in I, Tonya was fantastic and I am really excited to see her on the Oscar red carpet next Sunday night. When I watched the really simply staged Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture show last month I was immediately picking Oscar gowns, and Margot was the first person that came to mind to rock the collection on the Oscar red carpet. That dream may or may not be crushed based on the fact that at last Sunday’s BAFTA Awards she wore another look from this collection. Next Sunday I would love to see Margot wearing this dark anthracite silver Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture slip gown which features a plunging neckline, spaghetti straps, belted waist, all over pleating, and an a-line tiered skirt. This gown is dazzling without being covered in a single bead or sequin, and I definitely think that Margot would be able to rock this gown for the Oscars red carpet. Add a sleek updo, silvery smokey eyes, pink lips, a pair of anthracite grey glitter lamé Jimmy Choo ‘Lang’ sandals, and a pair of dainty but statement making Fred Leighton diamond and emerald pendant drop earrings to really ensure this look is head to toe perfection. Meryl Streep is part of the furniture at the Dolby Theater by now. Every year, even when you don’t think she will, Meryl walks into the Dolby Theater as an Oscar nominee. Looking at her Academy Awards red carpet history over the last decade it has been a beautiful evolution. From Alberta Ferretti in 2009 and Chris March in 2010 to Lanvin in 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015 to the unexpected Elie Saab pants gown she wore last year the evolution of Meryl’s style has evolved beautifully. Most of Meryl’s red carpets looks are very structured, but I wanted to go for light, yet dramatic, glamour for her look this year. So I went to this lipstick red Giambattista Valli Fall 2016 Couture goddess gown which features a dramatic cape, beaded detail on the neckline, and a flowing skirt. This is really beautiful moment and I definitely think that it would make for a really chic moment for Meryl. I would ensure this look is nothing but glamour styling it with a pair of red satin Salvatore Ferragamo peep toe d’orsay platform pumps, a romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of beautiful Harry Winston diamond and ruby drop earrings.Sally Hawkins has been an unexpected fashionista this awards season. She wore Dior Couture for the Golden Globes and the SAG Awards, Armani Prive for the Directors Guild Awards, and custom Ralph & Russo for the BAFTA’s. I am really interested in seeing what she will bring to the red carpet next Sunday where she is nominated for Best Actress for her performance in The Shape of Water. I would imagine that Sally will wear a Dior Couture gown, probably custom, but I want to see her expand her repertoire again with a beautiful Chanel Couture moment. I would love to see Karl take this baby pink Chanel Spring 2018 pleated organza tiered dress and add another tier to the skirt to make it a gown. I think that would fit Sally’s really well and make for another really beautiful moment for the Oscars red carpet. Especially when paired with a romantic updo, defined eyes, rose pink lips, a pair of ivory rose satin Tabitha Simmons open toe crystal buckled sandal mules, and antique Fred Leighton diamond and pearl tassel earrings. 10 years ago was the first time that Saoirse Ronan was nominated for her first Oscar for her performance in Atonement. She wore a green Alberta Ferretti gown for that red carpet. Then back in 2016 she was nominated for her performance in Brooklyn and again wore green wearing custom Calvin Klein. She wears green for this red carpet to bring a piece of her Irish heritage to the Oscars with her. So knowing her history I have been on the hunt for the perfect green gown right off the runway, and I have to say I didn’t find it. I did find this chic Armani Prive gown, from the 2012 One Night Only in Beijing collection, but it was acid green on the runway. I toyed with the color darkening it to more of an emerald hue, and I think that made it perfect for this red carpet. The strapless tiered column gown with crystal beaded embroidery is totally in tune with the more simplistic shapes that Saoirse loves to wear on the red carpet, and I think that this would end up being a really major moment for her to rock on this red carpet. Saoirse has been killing the jewelry game this awards season and I want to see her go out with one final major piece with a statement diamond and emerald vintage Cartier necklace. Add a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of emerald green Oscar Tiye ‘Malikah’ sandals all would ensure that this could be Saoirse’s best red carpet moment yet.

The 2018 Academy Awards are Sunday March 4, 2018!
