2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

My Oscar party wishes might be over, but I have a handful of wishes for the 2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards before I delve into my wishes for the Oscars ceremony red carpet. On the eve of the Oscars the biggest names in independent cinema leave LA in favor of a beach side tent in Santa Monica to celebrate the Film Independent Spirit Awards. While several stars who are nominated for Spirit Awards are also nominated for Oscars they don’t always go hand in hand especially since they aren’t mirror categories.Allison Janney is one of the stars who is both Spirit and Oscar nominated and I feel like she is probably the front runner to take home both trophies for her performance in I, Tonya. I have the best gown saved for her to rock on the Oscars red carpet, but for the Spirit Awards I am going for a much more relaxed approach to glamour. I feel like Allison would look really chic wearing this Prabal Gurung Spring 2018 RTW ensemble which consists of a navy and white twist draped bodysuit that features a halter neckline, a relaxed bodice, and a cut out at the waist and a pair of black high waist pants with light blue threaded seaming. Prabal might have just shown a new collection for Fall 2018 during New York Fashion Week, but I think that this look would fit the more casual air that we see from the spirit awards. I would keep the styling really chic with a navy satin Prada box clutch, sleek hair tucked behind the ears, defined eyes, nude lips, a pair of navy Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle Follies’ pointed toe pumps, and statement Irene Neuwirth opal and diamond earrings to really ensure this is a really major winning look for Allison. Carey Mulligan has been really low profile since she stepped out on the red carpet for the Gotham Independent Film Awards last year where she was honored with the cast of Mudbound. The cast again is being honored for their ensemble work at the Spirit Awards with the special Robert Altman Award for their performance in the film and I am hoping that Carey will bring her special type of glam to the red carpet at the Spirit Awards on the eve of the Oscars. I would love to see her snatch this light blue Delpozo Fall 2018 RTW sleeveless maxi dress which features a high low hem, statement red 3D floral embellishments, and an a-line skirt. This was just one of many statement looks that came down the Delpozo runway at the beginning of this week and I definitely think that it would be a really chic moment for Carey to bring to the red carpet at the Spirit Awards. I always think of Delpozo for the Spirit Awards red carpet probably because I feel like it holds the same independent spirit that the awards celebrate. The brand doesn’t stick to style trends opting to march to the beat of it’s own codes and it is usually one of the best shows of the season. I would add a navy satin waistband, a chic updo, navy defined eyes, light red lips, and a pair of navy suede and lace Jimmy Choo ‘Vantage’ sandals would all really make this a statement look for Carey. Ahead of the Writers Guild Awards if you asked me who I thought was going to take home an Oscar for sure Greta Gerwig would have been on that list. But since it seems like Jordan Peele and Get Out seems to be taking the drive now I am sad to think that her Oscar hopes are behind her. I had a last minute shuffle around of the looks I want to see Greta wear on Oscar weekend. I originally had picked this ruby red Monse Pre-Fall 2018 one sleeve pajama gown which features an A-line silhouette with a long sleeves, gathered side seam and asymmetric hem layered over a pair of tapered black pants for Greta to wear for the Vanity Fair party, but I ended up swapping that for a Brandon Maxwell pants ensemble that came down the runway just a day before my post went live. I then thought that it was a really cool moment for Greta to rock for Indie Spirits where she is nominated for Best Screenplay. I think that this really chic moment is the perfect mixed of relaxed and high glamour for Greta to rock on this red carpet. With a sleek hairstyle, defined eyes, a light pink lip, black Oscar de la Renta ‘Delcan’ strappy sandals, and a pair of Effy multi gemstone and diamond floral drop earrings I think that this would be a really great style moment for Greta. Margot Robbie has been getting better and better as the year goes on. After starting the year off on rocky footing there hasn’t been a single look that Margot has worn recently that I haven’t loved. For the Spirit Awards next Saturday I would love to see Margot deliver effortless glamour wearing this blue Rodarte Fall 2018 RTW ensemble which consists of a bustier which features a sweetheart neckline, a bow detail on the chest and waist, and a cut out mid section paired with a pair of high waist, wide leg pants which features a paper bag waist. I think that if Margot styled this look with a Rodarte antique gold arrow buckle, black ribbon belt, center parted waves, navy smokey eyes, a nude lip, gold Aquazzura ‘Sophia’ sandals, and a pair of Ana Khouri ‘Peacock’ earrings in 14k fairmined gold, pearls, and diamonds that she would definitely have the perfect look for Margot to rock on the Spirit Awards red carpet. Saoirse Ronan was another of my favorites to win the Oscar next Sunday, but I am resigned to the idea that she will loose to Frances McDormand. I am still praying for an upset. One thing I know that Saoirse will win is the style game. She has been killing it from Palm Springs Awards to now and I am really excited to see what she will bring to the red carpet at the Spirit Awards. With her wearing looks from the Cushnie et Ochs Spring 2018 and Pre-Fall 2018 collections for different events over the course of awards season I am sure that I would imagine that she will wear a look from the Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2018 RTW collection sometime between now and the end of Oscar week. I think that she should rock this hot pink Cushnie et Ochs Fall 2018 RTW ensemble which features an asymmetrical sleeveless top and a pair of white leg silk pants for the Spirit Awards red carpet. She can definitely handle a really great color moment and I think that this hot pink moment would definitely ensure that Saoirse is the boldest statement on this red carpet. I am keeping the bold going keeping everything hot pink with a pair of hot pink satin Charlotte Olympia ‘Paloma’ ruffled heel platform pumps, hot pink lips, and a selection of Fernando Jorge pink ruby, rubellite, and tourmaline jewels including a chic earring and statement wrap ring. A sleek ponytail and defined eyes would ensure that we have a really statement making look from Saoirse.

The 2018 Film Independent Spirit Awards will take place on Saturday March 3, 2018.
