Glamour on glamour on glamour is what we see on Oscar night and I am really excited to see what we are going to see this year. I have this gut feeling that this years Oscar night is going to be the most glamorous one in recent years. The crop of gowns, suits, and cocktail dresses available to stars right now is definitely something that I think could make for that extremely glamorous moment. It still shocks me that Blake Lively has never been on a Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet. I initially had really high hopes because Deapoool 2 was originally slated to premiere in LA the week after the Oscars, but that got pushed to May. I am still going to pray that Blake, and her hubby Ryan Reynolds, are on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair party this year. If she does step onto this red carpet I would love to see Blake give us glamour on this red carpet wearing this cherry red Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture chiffon gown which features a sun-ray pleated asymmetric draped bodice, sash, and thigh high slit. She was the first person I thought of when I saw this gown and I know that she would more than do it justice. The gown is nothing but glamorous drama and I know that Blake would really make this a major moment. A pair of red satin Christian Louboutin ‘Tres Frais’ flamenco sandals, old Hollywood waves, defined eyes, bold red lips, and a pair of dazzling Lorraine Schwartz diamond drop earrings all would really ensure that this is that really major moment that I am picturing in my head. Gwen Stefani knows how to give good fashion on Oscar night. One of my favorite looks from her ever came from the 2007 Vanity Fair party where she wore a stunning Chanel Couture midi gown, and she has also given great looks from Zuhair Murad Couture and Yanina Couture in the past as well. I thought about picking another couture look for Gwen, and Gwen loves couture, but I saw this Valentino Pre-Fall 2018 strapless gown which features a black satin bustier with a sweetheart neckline and a mint and aqua sequin embroidered tiger print skirt. I feel like this gown screams that edgy, statement glam style that Gwen exudes on the red carpet and would make for a really major moment. It proves that you don’t have to have couture gowns to have a major moment for Oscar night. A black Valentino ‘Rockstud Spike’ quilted minaudiere, old Hollywood waves, a smokey eye, red lips, a pair of black Valentino ‘Rockstud Glam’ crystal embellished satin sandals, and Cartier High Jewelry ‘Panthere’ diamond and emerald earrings would ensure that Gwen gives us all the best of 80’s vibes but in a really glam and modern way. Lily Aldridge has worn chic, but forgettable, gowns for past Vanity Fair red carpets in the past from Juan Carlos Obando and Alexandre Vauthier. I am hoping that this year she really brings her a-game if she steps onto the magazines Oscar party again. Instead of opting for a right off the runway as is look for Lily I want to modify a dress that came down the Prabal Gurung Spring 2018 RTW runway. This bright blue dress which features a crew neckline, one full length sleeves, and beaded embellishment throughout is really chic and I think that it is a great moment, but for Oscar night for Lily I would call up Prabal and ask that he modify this cocktail dress into a full length gown with a pretty simple train. The color with the one sleeve and the sparkling embellishments would all ensure that Lily doesn’t fade into the masses like she has pretty much every other time she has walked this red carpet especially when paired with Bulgari earrings in pink gold with tanzantite, aquamarine and pavé diamonds, a sleek updo, smokey eye, punchy pink lips, and a pair of strappy nude Giuseppe Zanotti for Jennifer Lopez ‘Coline’ crystal embellished sandals. On the Vanity Fair Oscar Party red carpet Penelope Cruz has given us really good wearing Atelier Versace and really head scratching wearing custom H&M. I have been loving everything that Penelope has worn so far this year so I am praying that if she steps out for the Vanity Fair party this year that she gives the boldest look that she has worn on this red carpet wearing this red Azzi & Osta Spring 2018 Couture off the shoulder gown which features delicate beaded embroidery, a column silhouette, with an origami draped rose peplum. Azzi & Osta is still an up and coming designer but has dressed the likes of Aishwarya Rai and Beyonce, and I think that giving the designer a moment on Oscar night would help push his name to levels that we will just continue to see the designer pop up on more and more stars. Penelope has the regal grace to really make a gown like this come to life on the red carpet. I would let the gown be the statement of this look styling it with a pair of red Jimmy Choo ‘Anouk’ pumps, a sleek updo, smokey eyes, red lips, and a pair of Chopard red carpet collection diamond and ruby wreath earrings. Last year was the first time ever that Tracee Ellis Ross got to party the night away on Oscar night. She attended both the Elton John AIDS Foundation and the Vanity Fair party and did so wearing beautiful looks from Yanina Couture and Zuhair Murad Couture respectively. That was before she started working with power stylist Karla Welch and solidified her status as an ‘It Woman.’ I would love to see Tracee step out on Oscar night again giving her all at both the Elton John and Vanity Fair parties. I usually put these wishes in order of who I would want to see on the red carpet over the course of the night, but looking at these gowns I want to swap them. For the Vanity Fair party I would want to see Tracee rock the red carpet wearing this teal blue Jean Paul Gaultier Spring 2018 Couture sleeveless, fringe trimmed column gown. I thought that it would be a great fit for Elton’s bash, but the more I look at it the more I feel like the stage that Vanity Fair sets would make this look even more impactful. I am keeping the gown the statement, but still upping the glamour with a pair of pale ice blue Christian Louboutin ‘Botticella Alta’ shell inspired platform sandals, a sleek bun, smokey eyes, pink lips, and a selection of Tiffany & Co. jewels including a pair of diamond stud earrings and a Blue Book statement diamond cuff bracelet all would really make this one of the boldest looks of the night. The gown I would like to see Tracee wear for the Elton John party is this stunning blue sequined Roberto Cavalli Couture long sleeve, column gown which features a subtle leopard print. This gown is the perfect choice for the Elton John red carpet because it has the simple silhouette that works well on that smaller sized red carpet with a busy step and repeat. I think that this gown would stand out perfectly on this red carpet. A pair of black and blue Rene Caovilla two-tone crystal back ankle wrap pumps, smokey eyes, full afro curls, and a pair of vintage Tiffany & Co. diamond and sapphire cluster earrings from Beladora all would really ensure that Tracee has two major moments on Oscar night.
Oscar Night 2018 will take place on Sunday March 6, 2018.
