After the main carpet at the Oscars where you expect to see glamorous and dramatic gowns, the red carpets at the parties like the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Party and the Vanity Fair Oscar After Party can offer some variety as to the styles we see. Drama, short, long, edge, classic, and glamour are all things that we can see on these red carpets. It really does make for one of the greatest nights of glamour of the year. The biggest names in film, music, models, sports, and fashion can be seen on the red carpets at the Oscar night bashes, making it the biggest night of style save for maybe the Met Gala. Cara Delevigne is on the co-host committee for the 2018 Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Gala and I am praying that this will finally be the year that we see her on the red carpets on Oscar night. I am really surprised that she hasn’t been a guest at any of the Oscar night events, especially since she has taken her forays into the world of film with performances in Pan, Paper Towns, and Valerian. Cara is one of the stars who I would want to see rock the red carpets on Oscar night. For the Elton John red carpet I went with a sexy yet glamorous moment for Cara with this black crystal encrusted Alexandre Vauthier Spring 2018 Couture long sleeve draped gown which features a faux wrap style skirt with a sexy split and a plunging keyhole cutout. This gown is extremely glamorous and sexy and I know that Cara would bring her edge to the table with this gown on this red carpet. I would style it with kohl rimmed eyes, red lips, a pair of black Tom Ford strass cap illusion pumps, and a statement Bulgari floral diamond necklace to really play up the glam of this look. For her quick change to rock the Vanity Fair red carpet I went to Dior. Cara is a face of Dior for their skincare line and I have to say that she is one who usually makes me not want to roll my eyes at what Dior has put on the red carpet. While my overall feelings toward Dior are not favorable I was in love with the Christian Dior Spring 2018 Couture collection. I definitely cannot see many rocking this threaded tulle ribbon cage gown, but I know that on Cara that this would be a really major red carpet moment. Sheer gowns are something that I am pretty much over, but I think that this gown with the yellow undies swapped for a sweetheart neck strapless bodysuit would be something that Cara could turn into such a glam moment on the red carpet. Keeping the smokey eye I would swap the red lips for nude lips adding a pair of black Giuseppe Zanotti three strap sandals and a pair of diamond and sapphire Bulgari cluster earrings to really ensure that Cara owns the red carpets on Oscar night. 2015 was the year of the rise of Gigi Hadid and it began with her walking the red carpets at the Vanity Fair Oscar party wearing a gorgeous black Atelier Versace gown. It was then that I took notice and was hopeful that I was going to find a new model crush, sadly most of Gigi’s red carpet moments since have been extremely underwhelming. If she skips the Chanel and Miu Miu shows during Paris Fashion Week I would love to see Gigi come back to the Vanity Fair red carpet. To do so in high style I would love to see Gigi wearing this gorgeous lilac Atelier Versace Fall 2016 Couture sleeveless gown which features layered detail, beautiful and subtle crystal embellishments, and baby pink lined ribbon fringe. I think that this gown needs a supermodel to make it really work on the red carpet and I know that Gigi has the chops to really make it a chic and glamorous moment on the red carpet. A sleek low bun, lined eye, bold pink lips, modern Messika diamond cluster earrings, a statement Messika diamond cuff bracelet, and a pair of silver Christian Louboutin ‘Jonatina’ leather and PVC sandals would really make this a gorgeous moment for Gigi.Lea Michele has been a fixture at the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Party since she blew onto the Hollywood scene thanks to GLEE. For past Elton John gala red carpets we have seen Lea wearing designs by Elie Saab, Pamella Roland, and Oscar de la Renta. Oh and you can throw in the great Cavalli Couture she wore for the Vanity Fair party one year in there too. I would say that ready-to-wear is probably the route that Lea will go for this red carpet, but instead of one of the current Spring 2018 RTW or looking to the future with the Fall 2018 RTW collections I decided that I wasn’t ready to give up on this opera purple Elie Saab Fall 2017 RTW gown which is made up of velvet and sheer lace and features tied details on the shoulder, a plunging neckline, peplum waist, and an a-line silhouette. I do think that Lea would take this gown and really breathe life into it. The only thing I wonder is if since this gown is already hit shelves and is getting ready to be moved off of them in favor of the spring collection that someone could have purchased it and scare Lea away for fears of a who wore it better moment. A pair of gold glitter Le Silla sandals, old Hollywood waves, a smokey eye, burgundy lips, and a pair of delicate 18k gold set Effy diamond drop earrings all would ensure that this is a really beautiful moment for Lea. Oprah will help kick off Oscar week with the premiere if her much anticipated blockbuster movie premiere A Wrinkle in Time and I would imagine that she is going to be hanging around to celebrate Hollywood’s biggest night. She is on the cover of the 2018 Vanity Fair ‘Hollywood Issue,’ so I think that it would be a great idea to see her on the red carpet at the magazines annual Oscar party. I was looking for looks for other stars and saw this navy Ong Oaj Pairam Fall 2017 RTW ‘Alina’ silk satin crepe back gown which features intricate floral silk thread-work embroidery, long sleeves, and a cape shoulder. When I saw it I told myself to file it away for Oprah and I thought that this could be a really chic moment for Oprah to rock on the red carpet for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party. Style the look with black Aquazzura ‘Forever Marilyn’ pointed toe pumps, full voluminous waves, a smokey eye, red lips, and a pair of Graff diamond drop earrings all to ensure that Oprah continues to kill in the fashion game. Tessa Thompson was so incredibly underrated in her gorgeous dark eggplant Zuhair Murad Couture gown that she wore for the Vanity Fair Party last year. I am hoping that after her major tour for Thor: Ragnarok that we will have a really major moment on the red carpet. I didn’t go the route of a big couture gown for Tessa this year, but I still picked a look that screams ‘IT GIRL’ on the red carpet. I feel like if Tessa picked up this multi-toned gold Chloé Spring 2018 RTW bohemian dress, but I would have the brands new creative director Natacha Ramsay-Levi take this ankle length gown to the floor and add a dramatic train. I think that would be a really chic moment perfect for an Oscar night red carpet. I did keep with Chloé for the bag picking a really chic gold ‘Nile’ small leather bracelet bag to add another chic moment on the red carpet. Finish it with gold Francesco Russo ‘Hill’ lace up sandals, a romantic updo, smokey eyes, nude lips, and a pair of brown diamond and orange tourmaline deGrisogono drop earrings to really ensure that Tessa isn’t lost to the masses again.
Oscar Night 2018 will take place on Sunday March 6, 2018.
