2018 Oscar Parties Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

Today we embark on the long journey to the 2018 Oscars. Before I get to my wishes for the main event I always put out my after party wishes. I do it flip flopped because I want to see what the new collections bring in my wishes for the red carpet at the actual Oscars ceremony. Since we will be almost done with the presentation of the Fall 2018 RTW collections, with Hollywood’s biggest night taking place halfway through Paris Fashion Week, a bunch of the Spring 2018 RTW looks might end up left on the rack in favor of newer and shinier. I know that risk, but since I have 95 stars that I am making wishes for to rock on Oscar parties red carpets I am just going to get started. We haven’t seen Alessandra Ambrosio since the 2017 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. After the show she announced that after 12 years as a Victoria’s Secret Angel that she was retiring from the brand and hanging up her wings. It came as a shock and surprise to many, and some wonder if some sort of in-propriety forced Alessandra (and possibly Adriana Lima) out of their roles as the iconic faces of the brand. I want to see Alessandra to bring her sense of sensual glamour back to the red carpet making the Oscar night party rounds. Usually we see Alessandra attend both the Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Gala and the Vanity Fair Oscars After Party and she usually does a quick change between the two. Ale is one of the many celebrity co-chairs of this years Elton John Gala and I am hoping that means that we do get to see her. For that red carpet I would pick this sleek modern glam white Alessandra Rich Spring 2018 RTW one shoulder gown which features one long sleeve, a crystal embellished patch, a draped skirt, and a sexy split. This is a bit of a different look for Alessandra who tends to go for uber sexy takes on Hollywood glam or sheer, but I think that she would infuse a whole lot of sex appeal into this really chic gown. I would finish this look with a sleek ponytail, smokey eyes, a soft pink lip, silver Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Harmony’ three strap sandals, and a pair of Chopard diamond fringe earrings to keep this look very modern glam. With a quick change for the Vanity Fair party I would love to see Alessandra give us classic Hollywood glamour wearing this gold lamé Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture strapless draped gown which features a sweetheart neckline and a very sexy split. I know that Alessandra can give good glamour on the red carpet and I know that she would shut down the Vanity Fair red carpet oozing sexy femme fatale glam wearing this gown. I think that if she swapped the ponytail for old Hollywood waves over one shoulder, the pink lips for red, the silver sandals for gold Marc Ellis slingback ankle wrap sandals, and the simple fringe earrings for a pair of statement Chopard Loves Rihanna multicolored stone floral earrings that this would be another winning moment for her.We haven’t heard if Armie Hammer is going to be attending the 2018 Oscars as a presenter yet, but I would imagine that he will be asked to present as a leading star of the Best Picture nominated Call Me By Your Name. If he doesn’t go to the Oscars itself I can definitely imagine that he and his gorgeous wife Elizabeth Chambers will be on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair party. We might have the new Ralph Lauren in season collection being presented at New York Fashion Week on Monday, but I am still holding out hope that we will see some of the really great ball gowns that the designer showed for his Fall 2017 RTW show and I think that this black gown which features a strapless patent leather bustier, a silver metal belted waist, and a tiered tulle ball skirt would be a really beautiful moment if Elizabeth wore it on the Vanity Fair red carpet. This gown gives us Marilyn Monroe meets dominatrix vibes and while that isn’t necessarily the typical inspiration we see from Elizabeth I think that she would really deliver this look in a really glamorous manner. A sleek high bun, smokey eye, red lips, a pair of black Tom Ford mesh pointed toe pumps, and Djula ‘Foliage’ diamond cluster earrings all would ensure that this is a really beautiful moment for Elizabeth, Kaitlyn Dever became a bit of a fashionista last year. She started working with Karla Welch and has given some really chic moments in brands like Prada, Valentino, and Christopher Kane. I’ve been loving her style and I would love to see the actress on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party wearing this white to navy ombré Oscar de la Renta Spring 2018 RTW strapless cocktail dress which features frothy tulle layers. Again I fear that this dress is about to be lost to the archive when creative directors Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim show their new collection at New York Fashion Week on Monday, but I really want to see stars option some of these dresses because they are just so beautiful and I definitely think that Kaitlyn would make this a really chic moment for the Vanity Fair red carpet. The dress might be short, but it is a real statement and I want to styling to really compliment it but let it be a moment all on it’s own. I would add a sleek low bun, defined eyes, a punchy pink lip, midnight blue glitter Nicholas Kirkwood ‘Lola Pearl’ sandals, and a pair of diamond and sapphire LeVian cluster drop earrings to really ensure that this look is head to toe perfection for one of the biggest red carpets that Kaitlyn would have walked. I am so excited that Miley Cyrus has made a big return recently and I would only imagine that after performing with Elton at the Grammy’s then performing at the Grammy Salute to Elton two days after the Grammy’s that she will be out on Oscar night partying the night away, kicking the night off on the red carpet at the 2018 Elton John AIDS Foundation Oscar Viewing Gala. For the Elton John red carpet I went to this electric blue Roberto Cavalli Couture 3D floral embroidered gown which features a column silhouette, spaghetti straps, and a side split. We saw a much more glam side of Miley on the Grammy Awards red carpet than we have seen from her in a really long time and I am excited to see what more glam moments she has in store for us. I think that this electric blue Cavalli gown would really make for a totally chic moment for the Elton John red carpet. A pair of matching blue Givenchy ‘Shark Lock’ platform sandals, old Hollywood waves, simple defined eyes, a light pink lip, and a selection of mismatched Djula jewels including a 4 pear shaped sapphire and diamond ear-crawler and a ‘Whirlpool’ white gold and diamond ear cuff all would ensure that this look is perfectly glam, with a bit of edge for Miley. For a quick change into something bolder and more dramatic for the Vanity Fair party I would love to see Miley rock this neon pink Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture sunray pleated chiffon gown which features an asymmetric bodice and sash and a daring side split. I will say when I saw this gown come down the runway my mind first went to the Ralph & Russo gown that Zendaya wore for the Spider-Man: Homecoming premiere last year, but I do think that they are different enough and Miley would wear it in a very different way that I think that this would still be a really great moment for her to rock on the red carpet. Making this gown even more statement making I would love to see Miley step onto the Vanity Fair party red carpet styling the look with a sleek vintage inspired updo, defined eyes, a matching pink lip, pink Aquazzura ‘Desert Rose’ sandals, and a pair of multicolored stone Gucci Fine Jewelry bow pendant earrings. Last year new Victoria’s Secret angel Sara Sampaio was one of my favorite stars on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party wearing a sculptural custom Ralph & Russo gown, so she has a lot to live up to. She also had a really major run at the Cannes Film Festival last year wearing the likes of Armani Prive, Francesco Scognamiglio, and Zuhair Murad. I went back to the same Armani Prive collection that Sara wore during Cannes last year, but went with more glam moment than edgy like that jumpsuit. I think that Sara would just exude light glamour wearing this smokey mauve sequined Armani Prive Spring 2016 Couture strapless ballgown which features a a bustier bodice and a tulle layered skirt. I have been surprised that this gown has been locked in the Armani archive, but I think that Sara would definitely take this gown and really make this moment on the red carpet at the Vanity Fair party. We often see models go for big gowns which adds some contrast to the simpler gowns and cocktail dresses that the movie stars tend to change out of from the Oscars telecast. To really ensure this is a major moment I would style this gown with old Hollywood waves over one shoulder, thick smokey eyes, nude lips, a pair of silver Francesco Russo open toe platform sandals, and Martin Katz amethyst starburst pendant earrings.

Oscar Night 2018 will take place on Sunday March 6, 2018.
