The Berlin International Film Festival is the first film festival with major red carpets of the year. The red carpets can be really good or really blah, but with the level of star power that has films screening at this years festival I am praying that we will have major moment after major moment on the red carpet. Stars like Diane Kruger, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Natalie Portman, Elizabeth Banks, and Tilda Swinton have graced the red carpets at Berlinale giving me moments that have stuck in the back of my mind all year long. Who could be that person this year? I’m not sure but I cannot wait to find out.The gorgeous Isabelle Huppert has become one of my favorite stars that I am really excited to see what she will bring to this year as she presents her film Eva at this years festival. I would love to see Isabelle give us nothing but couture as she presents this film in Berlin. For the photocall I would love to see Isabelle wear bold print via this Francesco Scognamiglio Fall 2017 Couture long sleeve dress which features a ribbon tie neck and a pointed hem. We don’t often see Isabelle wearing prints so I think that this could definitely be a moment for her to kick off the day with a really bold sartorial option. Simple hair worn down, a cinnamon lip, and a pair of simple black Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Anette’ pumps all would really make this look all about the statement dress. For the premiere I went to a gown that I definitely think that Isabelle would be drawn to with this soft white Giambattista Valli Spring 2018 Couture draped, long sleeve gown which features a high neck, full sleeves, and a little sparkle via some silver beaded embroidery. The shape of this gown is something that we have seen Isabelle wear several times in the last year and I do think that it would be a real gorgeous moment on the Berlinale red carpet. To really ensure glamour is the word of the day we can expect Isabelle to style this look with chic waves, a smokey eye, red lip, white Jimmy Choo ‘Lancer’ strappy stain pumps, and a pair of beautiful Chopard Red Carpet Collection diamond and ruby drop earrings. Prior to promoting her film Damsel at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival we have seen star Mia Wasikowska lay pretty low since she promoted Alice Through The Looking Glass back in May of 2016. I think that Mia can really deliver some beautiful red carpet moments and I am really interested in seeing what she will do for first Berlin Film Festival. For the photocall I went to chic bohemian elegance with this Chloé Spring 2018 RTW ensemble which features a white lace short sleeve top and a floral printed chiffon mini skirt. This is what I would come to expect from a film festival photocall and I think that the very feminine take on bohemian dressing would fit Mia’s sense of style perfectly, just add loose waves, a light pink lip, and a pair of Chloé tan velvet platform sandals with a chunky heel. For the premiere I went for a more masculine approach to glamour via this black Christian Dior Spring 2018 Couture gown which features a satin vest bodice and a full tulle a-line skirt. I think that this very chic and simple moment would ensure that Mia gives us nothing but glamour on this red carpet. I think that if it was paired with a sleek updo, bold defined eyes, red lips, black Jimmy Choo ‘April’ sandals, and a pair of vintage Van Cleef & Arpels floral earrings formed of carved gray mother of pearl with diamond set pistils to really ensure that this is a really beautiful moment for Mia on the occasion of her first Berlin Film Festival appearance. I am really excited too see Robert Pattinson, whom my friend Kelly refers to has her Dior husband, will wear as he steps out on the red carpets at the Berlin Film Festival to promote Damsel with Mia Wasikowska. Robert is a face of the Dior Homme fragrance and it is very rare that he wears anything other than Dior on the red carpet. He was just seated front row at the Dior Homme Fall 2018 Menswear show and I am hoping that he went back stage and grabbed a couple of the looks right off the runway to wear for Berlinale. I think that this dark tan tow button single breasted skinny suit paired with a striped tan, black, yellow, and red knit polo is a great look for Rob to wear for the Damsel photocall, especially with a pair of brown suede Christian Louboutin “Bruno Crepe” desert boots. For the premiere I went to something very classic, but with a twist via this black double breasted tuxedo which features a white detail on the blazer and a crisp white button up shirt sans any tie. I feel like the simple white detail on the jacket makes this look just outside of the standard normative box. I would further the step out of that box with a pair of Christian Louboutin “Hubertus Orlato” oxfords which feature a classic blend of black leather, hounds tooth motif denim and suede and the Loubi red lined lug sole adding a laid-back, utilitarian touch to this look. Since she was killed off of Game of Thrones (old spoiler alert) and The Hunger Games series has ended we haven’t seen a whole lot of Natalie Dormer on the red carpet and I am really excited to see what she will bring on her big red carpet return this year. Natalie will be promoting her film Picnic at Hanging Rock at this years edition of the Berlin International Film Festival. I found it hard to pick a photocall look for Natalie because I don’t think that she snatches a whole lot of her more casual looks from the runways. I would however like to see her attend the photocall for Picnic at Hanging Rock wearing this black Yigal Azrouël Pre-Fall 2018 suit which features a thick belted waist, an asymmetrical blacker with silver fringe, and a pair of wide leg pants. I think that the edgy glam of this look is something that would speak to Natalie’s style and with voluminous curls, a bold defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of black Casadei ‘Blade’ pumps that it would be a chic moment for Natalie to rock for a Berlinale photocall. For the films premiere I decided to go for full glam picking this cherry red Ralph & Russo Spring 2018 Couture chiffon gown which features a sun-ray pleated asymmetric draped bodice, sash, and thigh high slit. Natalie loves to represent British brands on the red carpet and I think that she would do just that in the most glamorous way possible wearing this gown on the Berlin Film Festival red carpet. A romantic updo, defined eyes, red lips, red Casadei crossover strap sandals, and a pair of diamond and ruby ear pendants set on white gold from Sara Joias high jewellery all would just really punctuate this as a bold and beautiful moment for Natalie. I get very up and down with my love for Rooney Mara. She often comes across as repetitive and bland when it comes to her style, but I know she has amazing potential so I get frustrated. For the Berlin International Film Festival I decided to pick all Givenchy moments for her to bring to life on the red carpet while promoting Don’t Worry He Won’t Get Far On Foot. For the photocall I think that this black double breasted blazer with gold rimmed buttons paired with a pleated asymmetrical pleated solid and printed mini skirt would be a really chic moment for Rooney to wear on the red carpet. I feel like she is more likely to wear a simple black slip or sheath dress, but I think that this suit look is a really chic high fashion moment that Rooney could definitely rock for a photocall. That with a sleek hairstyle, simple defined eyes, a light pink lip, and a pair of black Gianvito Rossi ‘Versilia’ suede block heel sandals that this is a really chic moment. For the premiere I went to the Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture collection and this black and beige lace gown which features strong shoulders, long sleeves, a defined waist, and a pleated a-line skirt. I definitely think that Rooney is a good candidate to be one of the first to wear Claire Waight Keller’s debut couture collection for Givenchy. I feel like this gown is right up Rooney’s ally and that with a sleek hairstyle, dark berry lip, defined eyes, a pair of black Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ sandals, and antique Fred Leighton yellow rose cut diamond drop earrings all would really make sure that this is a glam goth moment.
