Today kicks off my wishes for this years Berlin International Film Festival and I am quite excited to see what stars will bring to the red carpets of this years festival. Berlin is one of the lower key festivals, but has produced some really great moments in the past and I am excited to see what stars like Greta Gerwig, Tilda Swinton, Robert Pattinson, Rooney Mara, and Rosamund Pike will wear for their photocalls and premieres at this years edition of the festival. Today we kick off with the star studded cast of the Wes Anderson animated feature Isle of Dogs. Berlin loves Wes and I cannot wait to see who from the cast will trek to the German capitol to help promote their film and kick off the 2018 Berlin Film Festival in high style. I am hoping that Greta Gerwig will take the time on her road to the Oscars to step out for the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival opening ceremony premiere of Isle of Dogs. Greta has a history with the film festival having acted as a member of the feature film jury at the festival in 2014 and presenting films in 2010 and 2016. So I feel like given her history that Greta would be on the red carpet at this years opening ceremony. Greta has been giving pretty good style recently and I want to see her on tip top form. For the photocall for Isle of Dogs I would love to see Greta take this Prabal Gurung Pre-Fall 2018 ensemble which features a black turtleneck with side silts and rouleau button details layered over a brown plaid dress which features a asymmetrical neckline, diagonal lace details, and thick ribbon straps. I think that this look screams Greta’s style and with the belted waist and a pair of cognac brown No. 21 ‘Lilla’ Swarovski crystal-embellished sandals that this gown is perfect for a Berlin Film Festival photocall. For the actual premiere I went to bold color and simple glamour with this royal blue Elie Saab Fall 2017 Couture sleeveless ballgown which features a velvet bustier with thick straps and a full skirt with a side split. It isn’t very often that we see Greta go for full skirts on the red carpet, but I can definitely see her being drawn to the rather simple glamour of this gown, and if you aren’t going to go big for a major film festival opening ceremony then you might as well go home right? A sleek updo, simple defined eyes, a light pink lip, blue Aquazzura ‘Nathalie’ sandals, and a pair of vintage Cartier diamond and sapphire cluster earrings all would really ensure that this gown is a really beautiful moment for Greta. Kara Hayward is a young rising star who has previously been seen in Moonrise Kingdom and Manchester by the Sea and has her second role in a Wes Anderson film with Isle of Dogs. I am interested in seeing what Kara wears on the red carpet for the Berlin International Film Festival when she steps out to promote this film. When she was a breakout star of Moonrise Kingdom she showed up on the Cannes Film Festival opening ceremony premiere of that film wearing a custom Louis Vuitton by Marc Jacobs midi gown and I am really interested in seeing what the 19 year old actress will wear. For the photocall I went for chic and flirty with this Elie Saab Spring 2018 RTW ensemble which features a lace insert top with sequin detail and multi color stripes and a waterfall blue paneled mini skirt with gold buttons. I definitely think that this is the perfect look for Kara to wear for a photocall it is age appropriate and fun. Add loose waves, a daytime smokey eye, light pink lips, and a pair of nude Jimmy Choo ‘Micky’ glitter toe block heel pumps to really make this a head to toe perfect photocall moment. For the premiere I went to frothy glamour with this orange to white ombré Oscar de la Renta Spring 2018 RTW strapless ball gown which features a dramatic ruffled tulle ball skirt. I think that this gown is perfect for a film festival opening ceremony and I definitely think that it would be a perfect gown for a 19 year old actress to wear on the red carpet. Pair it with a romantic updo, smokey eyes, a light pink lip, and a pair of gold Jimmy Choo ‘Lane’ peep toe sandals to turn Kara into not just an actress to watch, but a fashionista to watch. Scarlett Johansson gives very few red carpet appearances anymore and they are so varied in being really good to really bad. I want ScarJo to show up in Berlin to promote Isle of Dogs, and I want to see her give really great moments for all of her appearances. I think that for the films photocall I think that this multicolored Cushnie et Ochs Pre-Fall 2018 abstract expressionist ensemble which features a chiffon button up blouse and a pair of cropped cigarette pants. Print and color hasn’t been much of something that we have seen from Scarlett, but I do think that this Cushnie moment is really great for her and would put her back on top of the style train, especially when paired with a pair of black, rose gold, silver, and gold Malone Souliers chic design pumps. For the premiere I would love to see Scarlett wearing this navy Schiaparelli Spring 2018 Couture sleeveless gown which features silver beaded leaf embroidery, a plunging neckline, a column silhouette, and a peplum waist on the Berlin Film Festival red carpet. I would really make this gown a real moment with a sleek hairstyle, smokey eyes, a dusty rose pink lip, dark grey velvet Rene Caovilla crystal embellished strappy sandals, and a selection of Harry Winston jewels including a pair of diamond cluster earrings and a wreath style diamond bracelet. Tilda Swinton is no stranger to a Wes Anderson film nor the Berlin Film Festival red carpet and I cannot wait to see what she will bring to the festivals red carpets this year. I love me a Swinton sighting because her signature androgynous approach to glamour really gets me excited. She takes risks and really knows how to do extravagant minimalism perfectly. Usually couture for a photocall is reserved for the Cannes Film Festival, but I am bucking that in choosing this Givenchy Spring 2018 Couture ensemble which features a structured feathered cape shoulder bodice and perfectly tailored high waisted silk pants. When I was watching this show and I saw this look I immediately thought of Tilda and I definitely think that if anyone could make it work for a photocall it would be her. I would pair this ensemble with a pair of black Roger Vivier suede curved heel mules, sleek hair, and a dark red almost burgundy lip to really make this a real moment, even for the photocall. Similar to the Givenchy ensemble when I was flipping through the Alexis Mabille Spring 2018 Couture collection and I saw this bisque colored oversized shirt dress style gown which features voluminous sleeves, white tuxedo bib, and a bit of a high low hem I immediately thought of how gorgeous it would look on Tilda. I think that it would make a chic moment for Tilda to wear on this red carpet and be the perfect contrast to the more typical feminine and princess-y moments that I picked for her Isle of Dogs co-stars. A punky coif, simple defined eyes, a nude pink lip, and a pair of nude Roger Vivier sandals in suede with woven small belts and side embellished crystal buckle all would ensure that this is another head to toe moment on the Berlin Film Festival red carpet.
