2017 End of the Year Style Awards: Model of the Year

I thought it was only fitting that after the extremely glamorous year that Alessandra Ambrosio has had that she should take home the Model of the Year Award. Some other models turned actresses had great years too, but I try to give this award to a model who just walks the red carpet for the sake of fashion, not a while planned promo tour for a movie. Over the course of this year Alessandra hasn’t walked many runways. She kicked off the year closing the Ralph & Russo Spring 2017 Couture show wearing the bridal gown, stomped the runway for her longtime friend Olivier Rousting’s Balmain Spring 2018 RTW show at the Paris Opera and finished the year finishing up her run with Victoria’s Secret. Ale has officially hung up her wings after 17 years with VS and did so in high style. Over the course of the year Alessandra has delivered red carpet moment from designers like Ralph & Russo, Carolina Herrera, Balmain, Versace, Alessandra Rich, Ermanno Scervino, Maria Lucia Hohan, and more. She decided to rock a more glam look than we are used to seeing from her. Ale was known for very sexy and sheer gowns on the red carpet, but this year she delivered much more covered looks that still oozed sex appeal. This was a much needed refreshing change of pace. Alessandra wore all of her looks this year impeccably well. I definitely thought of several of Ale’s looks as I narrowed down my favorite looks of the year to craft my best dressed list. Will any of these look make the final cut? Stay tuned.
