In the coming weeks we will see a lot of big movie tours kicking off and I think that biggest will be the one for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. With such an international presence I could definitely see the film screen in all of the major stops for a blockbuster film which can include Mexico City, Rio, Berlin, Paris, Madrid, Moscow, Shanghai, Beijing, Seoul, Tokyo, and NYC on top of the already scheduled LA and London gala premieres. Aside from those two gala premieres I don’t know exactly where cast members of Star Wars: The Last Jedi will jet to promote the film and I don’t know who from the casts will show up. I would expect that given her last promo tour for the franchise that Daisy Ridley will be one of the very frequent faces that we see. Before that tour I had no idea who Daisy was, but she showed up and seemed to have the backing of fashion heavyweights behind her. While since that tour Daisy has kept a relatively low profile I am really excited to see what this tour will bring from the gorgeous rising starlet. Kicking off my wishes for Daisy Ridley to rock over the course of this tour is this great black, silver, and red Balmain Spring 2018 RTW mini dress which features chain detail throughout bodice and shoulder straps, braided construction, and feather trim. We haven’t seen a very rock and roll vibe from Daisy in the past and I think that this Balmain dress is a perfect look to give that edgier vibe on a red carpet. I would style this look with a tight high bun, defined eyes, red lips, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Nosy Spiked’ t-strap pumps to make it perfect for one of the many premieres that Daisy is sure to attend. A big part of this set of wishes will be about expanding the repertoire of designers that Daisy could wear. Over the course of the tour for Star Wars: The Force Awakens we saw many major brands like Chanel, Jason Wu, Roland Mouret, Chloe, and Giambattista Valli all embrace Daisy jetting her to immediate style star status to I am really looking forward to see what she will bring to the red carpet over the course of the tour for Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Brandon Maxwell really came to star designer status over the last 2 years and I think that he would be a great option for Daisy to turn to for a really great red carpet moment. This striking cobalt blue Brandon Maxwell Spring 2018 RTW ensemble which features a top in a stretch crepe that features a layered one-shoulder neckline, ribbed flare sleeve, and slim fit and a matching pleated mini skirt is a real simple statement but one that really delivers a strong yet sexy vibe to it. I think that Daisy could elevate this look even further by pairing this look with a pair of silver Saint Laurent ‘Anja’ pumps, a smokey eye, glossy nude lip, loose waves, and a pair of Harry Winston diamond and sapphire drop earrings.
I have been on a big vintage kick recently and I feel like stars have been wearing a lot of really great vintage on the red carpet recently. I went through so many collections to put this list together picking cocktail dresses and gowns from all of the recent couture, RTW, and resort collections, but this vintage grey/blue cloud printed Christian Dior by John Galliano one shoulder silk gown which features a slim fit, a bias cut finish, a side button fastening, and a side slit really spoke to me. It is the only gown I picked for Daisy to wear during the international premieres because she opted for mostly short dresses for these premieres during her last tour. The simplistic nature of this vintage Dior gown is definitely something that I could see Daisy being drawn to. Adding a pair of silver Sophia Webster ‘Rosalind’ crystal heel sandals, beautiful Chopard diamond, sapphire, and aquamarine drop earrings, a loose updo, and a smokey eye all would ensure that Daisy has a beautiful vintage moment on the red carpet.
Giambattista Valli was the first couture brand that Daisy wore, and with my love of all things Giambattista I couldn’t not feature a design from the house for her to wear during this promo tour. I think that Daisy would take this orange creamsicle Giambattista Valli Fall 2017 Couture draped mini dress and really make it a very chic moment. This dress gives very distinct 60’s vibes, but done in a very modern way and I think that Daisy would take it and add a sleek updo, defined eyed, a rose pink lip, gold Casadei ‘Blade’ pumps, and a pair of diamond and 18kt gold Cartier ‘Cactus de Cartier’ earrings to it to make it perfection.
Finishing out this set of wishes I had to go to the Versace Spring 2018 RTW collection. As I said earlier stars are loving vintage this year and for this collection Donatella Versace pulled out her brothers original archives to reissue many of the best prints and shapes that made the house famous. Think of this collection as modern vintage. I think one of these international premieres would be a perfect place for this black Versace Spring 2018 RTW ensemble which features a black long sleeve jersey body suit and gold baroque beaded mini skirt all tied together with a black leather belt with gold hardware. Daisy hasn’t worn Versace on a red carpet before, but what better place than a promo tour for a major blockbuster to forge that relationship? Adding a pair of black and gold Salvatore Ferragamo pointed toe pumps, a sleek low bun, and a red lip all make sure this first Versace moment is perfection.
