2017 Hollywood Film Awards Red Carpet Wish List Part 1

The road to the Oscars 2018 will kick off next Sunday November 5, 2017 with the Hollywood Film Awards. This awards show is hosted every year and honors the best of film from the past year. We the public might not have seen some of these films yet, but the films are coming out soon and the voting body has. What is nice about this red carpet is that there are no nominees just honorees in all of the categories. The stars that come out are there to celebrate their success or the success of the teams of people who made the film happen. It is still a red carpet to get dressed up for, but it does not warrant the same level of gowns that we will see at the Critics Choice, Golden Globe, or SAG Awards. Allison Janney will be honored at the 2017 Hollywood Film Awards with the Hollywood Supporting Actress Award for her turn as LaVona Golden, the sharp-tongued mother of Tonya Harding in I, Tonya opening December 8th. I have been binge watching The West Wing recently and have been reminded of my love for Allison. Back when she was nominated and winning Emmy Awards for her role as C.J. Cregg, Allison was seen wearing couture from Elie Saab. In recent years we have really only seen her wearing the brands most people consider to be the b-list level of designers and I am hoping that with a possible Best Supporting Actress Oscar run gearing up that Allison will be able to up her style game. For the Hollywood Film Awards red carpet I would love to see Allison wearing this very chic Akris Resort 2018 tank gown which features a chiffon batwing bodice, column silhouette, and a dramatic side split. This gown would be the perfect first step to a major Oscar campaign. It is quite simple, but I think that on Allison that it would be a totally elegant moment for her to wear on the Hollywood Film Awards red carpet. Rounding the look out with a pair of black Schutz ‘Natally’ knotted peep toe sandals, a loose updo, smokey eye, rose pink lips, and a pair of Forevermark diamond drop earrings would make it a very chic moment for Allison. The cast of Mudbound will receive the Hollywood Breakout Ensemble Award at this years Hollywood Film Awards. The promo tour for Mudbound has been great with me really loving everything that Carey Mulligan has worn since the first premiere in Toronto. I am excited at the potential that Carey will be out promoting the film during awards season. She hasn’t done a full awards season run since her breakout season in 2010 and I know that she has grown so much since then as a style star that we are in for a visual treat if she does get to make a run to vie for awards like the Golden Globes, SAG, BAFTA, and Oscars. For the Hollywood Film Awards I would love to see Carey go for chic in this white embroidered Chanel Spring 2018 RTW strapless peplum, tea length gown. The look is very chic and I think that it is just enough for Carey to wear on this red carpet. The red carpet at the Hollywood Film Awards tends to be a simple gown and cocktail dress red carpet, so I think that this would fit right into that dress code. Adding a sleek hairstyle, smokey eye, pink lip, Chanel Haute Jewelry ‘Cafe Society’ modern diamond chandelier earrings, and a pair of sculptural white Manolo Blhanik ‘Scipios’ pumps would really make this a truly chic red carpet moment for Carey.Margot Robbie, and the rest of the cast of I, Tonya, will be taking home the Hollywood Ensemble Award and I am really hoping that she will deliver a major moment on the red carpet. I know that Margot has amazing potential to rock on the red carpet, but I have been extremely underwhelmed with all of her red carpet looks recently. I went to Calvin Klein, one of Margot’s favorite brands, for the perfect dress for Margot to wear. This navy blue leather Calvin Klein Spring 2018 RTW a-line dress which features pleated detailing, a white lining, and a plunging neckline is a dream and I think that Margot would look so elegant wearing this elevated take on a very classic silhouette. Margot was given an ELLE Women in Hollywood award which the event was sponsored by Calvin Klein and yet she showed up in a very simple black design from the house. I don’t know if the Hollywood Film Awards will be too close to the ELLE awards for Margot to wear Calvin Klein again, but I think that this dress is perfect for the occasion. A sleek silver Calvin Klein engraved metal box clutch, a pair of statement china blue Christian Louboutin ‘So Kate’ glittered pumps, old Hollywood waves, a red lip, and Messika diamonds including a pair of angel wing earrings and a wing cocktail ring all would ensure that Margot is back as one of my favorite red carpet ladies. Mary J. Blige will not only take home the Hollywood Breakout Ensemble Award with her Mudbound co-stars, but the film has also earned her the Hollywood Breakout Performance Actress Award. This season will be the first time Mary could see any award nominations for her acting. She has maintained some edgy yet very glamorous looks from cocktail dresses to gowns to suits on the red carpet while she has promoted the film. I am really excited to see what an awards season run will make for Mary J. Blige. I would love to see Mary go for bold color and ethereal glamour on the Hollywood Film Awards red carpet wearing this red Giambattista Valli Resort 2018 sleeveless silk gown which features a deep v-neckline, lace detailing, and a soft pleated skirt. This is a much simpler and lighter gown than Mary has worn on the red carpet recently and I think that it would be such a chic moment for the Hollywood Film Awards. I would add a sleek bun, smokey eye, red lip, a red Salvatore Ferragamo ‘Gancini’ clutch, red Giuseppe Zanotti three strap sandals, and a statement Bulgari pearl, diamond, ruby, and peridot necklace to really make this a major moment for Mary on this red carpet.
