One of the most glamorous events of the year is the annual LACMA Art + Film Gala. Each year the the gala honors one artist and one filmmaker to raise money for the LACMA and its mission. On Saturday November 4, 2017, notables from the art, film, fashion, and entertainment industries will gather at LACMA for its seventh annual Art+Film Gala honoring acclaimed artist Mark Bradford and renowned award-winning filmmaker George Lucas. Aside from George, Salma Hayek, and Leonardo DiCaprio I am not 100% sure of anyone who is going to be in attendance at this years gala. I looked at stars of some of George Lucas’s films. I am sure some of the stars of the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi will turn out for this gala. The gala is also once again sponsored by Gucci so I know that we will, as usual, see almost everyone wearing the brand on the red carpet. I picked some of my favorite Gucci looks and the person who I think would be the perfect person to bring it to life on a red carpet to really make this an amazing red carpet.I have been wondering where Cate Blanchett’s magic mojo has gone this year. I have always been a champion of Cate and her regal style, but I haven’t loved a single look that she has worn this year. I was looking through Gucci collections when I saw this pink and purple 40’s inspired Gucci Cruise 2018 caped gown with embellished bow details I said “Cate has to wear this.” So since Gucci is the presenting sponsor of the LACMA Art + Film Gala I thought what better platform for her to wear it? Cate has never attended at LACMA gala in the past, but I think that with the love of Gucci that she has had since Alessandro Michele (as has most of the world) that seeing her in this dramatic, glamorous gown would be a perfect first gala for Cate. Because this gown is such a statement on its own I think that if Cate paired this gown with a chic romantic updo, kohl rimmed eyes, pink lips, a pair of black Gucci ‘Ilse’ crystal embellished sandals, and a pair of simple pink diamond Tiffany & Co. drop earrings that this would be one of her best red carpet ensembles in a long time.Daisy Ridley is gearing up for a busy end of the year with major promo tours for Murder of the Orient Express and Star Wars: The Last Jedi set to start in the coming weeks. I am really excited to see what she has in store for us. I would love to see Daisy step out on the red carpet at the LACMA Gala since they are honoring George Lucas ahead of the Star Wars tour. I think that this dusty rose Gucci Spring 2018 RTW long sleeve pleated gown which features beaded embellishment throughout, a plunging neckline, and fringed epaulets would be a chic look for Daisy’s first LACMA Gala red carpet. I think that with a sleek low bun, a medium pink Bottega Veneta woven satin elongated knot clutch, and a pair of strappy metallic silver Marc Ellis sandals that Daisy would be kicking off her red carpet run in high style.Dakota Johnson, as a face of Gucci, is no stranger to the LACMA Gala red carpet. I was actually really surprised that Dakota skipped out on the gala last year, but I bet that she will be there this year. I have thought that this black velvet Gucci Cruise 2018 draped cold shoulder gown which features a ribbon halter neck, puffy sleeves, dramatic sequined embroidery, and a midi length would be a great look on Dakota, but I haven’t thought it appropriate for any of the appearances she has made since it was presented. I think that the LACMA Gala would be a perfect time for Dakota to bring this dress to life on the red carpet. Styling the look with a chic ponytail, lined eye, red lip, black crystal embellished Judith Leiber Couture ‘Slim Slide’ clutch, a pair of gold Gucci ‘Dionysus’ metallic sandals, and a pair of vintage diamond and emerald Bulgari chandelier earrings would ensure that this is one of Dakota’s beautiful red carpet moments.Evan Rachel Wood has been one of my favorites to see on the red carpet this year with all of her pantsuits. I am really looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year will bring. When I was watching the Gucci Spring 2018 RTW show and I saw this crystal trimmed navy blazer with a fuchsia silk bow belt and royal blue straight leg pants I immediately thought of Evan and I thought putting it in my wish list for the LACMA Art + Film Gala before it gets worn for an event and I don’t have the chance to feature it. I think that Evan will definitely make it work on a red carpet. I would ensure that this look is perfection by adding a dark blue velvet Gucci ‘Dionysus’ clutch, sleek hair, a pair silver glitter Gucci ‘Sylvie’ crystal embellished mary jane pumps, kohl rimmed eyes, fuchsia lips, and a statement Neil Lane diamond necklace over a bare chest.Lupita Nyong’o is one who I am sure will be on the red carpet at the LACMA Art + Film Gala. She is a star of the upcoming Star Wars: The Last Jedi and is a friend of the house of Gucci so I would think that she would be the most solid bet to be on the red carpet on this list, aside from Salma Hayek to walk this red carpet. I had originally picked a short brocade dress for Lupita to wear on the red carpet, but then Anya Taylor Joy snatched it up for her London Film Festival premiere. So I went back to the drawing board. I wasn’t sure originally if this lime green Gucci Cruise 2017 silk draped gown which features cap sleeves, bow details, and a stomach cutout would be a good choice because it features a fur neckline. Since the brand as just announced that it is going fur free so I feel like the removal of that detail would be no problem. I would love to see Lupita elevate this gown with a pair of blush Paul Andrew ‘Liva’ sandals, a statement Gucci ‘Broadway’ parrot feather detail clutch, a green smokey eye, dark magenta lips, and a pair of Tiffany & Co. green tourmaline and diamond cushion cut drop earrings. Ruth Negga has long been one of my favorite ladies to see on a red carpet since she first emerged at the Cannes Film Festival last year and she had a really stellar awards season. While the frequency of her red carpet appearances have thinned she is still hitting the style game hard with help of stylist Karla Welch as they make mega magic together. Ruth has worn Gucci a few times on the red carpet and when I was watching the Spring 2018 show and I saw this nude tulle and lace midi dress which features a blue crystal encrusted body suit underneath she was the first person I thought of. I love the modern edge that the bodysuit gives to this look, but wonder if stars will stay away from it as it could read a little ice dancer or Vegas showgirl. Personally I think that when paired with the tulle and lace that it makes for a perfect contrast and if anyone could make the absurd meshing work it would be Ruth. I think that if Ruth styled this look with a smokey eye, red lip, powder pink Aquazzura ‘Eden’ crystal embellished ankle wrap sandals and a pair of perfectly complimentary Gemfields emerald and sapphire drop earrings that she would definitely have another major red carpet moment on her hands.Salma Hayek is the only person on this list that I would bet money that she will actually walk the red carpet at the LACMA Art + Film Gala next month. As the first lady of Kering, the company that owns Gucci, Salma is always on the arm of her husband François-Henri Pinault (the Chairman and CEO of Kering.) I have to say that knowing Salma she will wear a Gucci gown for this red carpet, but I honestly couldn’t find anything from any of the current runway collection or online stores that I think would be a truly beautiful moment. I would also place a pretty safe bet that the gown that Salma will wear for this red carpet will be custom. If I were forced to pick a runway gown for Salma It would be this black pleated silk gown from the Gucci Spring 2018 RTW collection, but I would modify it. Removing the sleeves and adding a dramatic train would make this look much more fitting for Salma. I think that if those modifications were made and she styled the look with a pair of simple black Gucci strappy sandals, a sleek updo, smokey eye, red lip, and a statement diamond and emerald Boucheron (another Kering brand) necklace that this could be one of Salma’s best red carpet moments in a really long time.
