On Wednesday November 8, 2017 the stars of country music will take place at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee. All the major players in country music are expected to turn out including the hosts for the night Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood, who are teaming up to host the awards show for the tenth straight year. Last year Carrie used her wardrobe changes to pay tribute to the women in country music that inspire her with a whopping 12 wardrobe changes. She wore designs from Michael Cinco, several from Elie Madi, LaBourjoisie, Marina Toybina, MacDuggal, Rani Zakhem, and Jovani over the course of the evening and I went back to pull from some of those brands and then some. Carrie doesn’t wear a whole lot of the big main stream designers on the red carpet, so I took two whole days and just did searches to find perfect looks for Carrie to wear over the course of her hosting duties for this years CMA Awards. Carrie is also nominated for Female Artist of the Year in addition to probably performing at this years show as well. We are about to embark down the 11 looks that I have picked for the country music princess bring to life. When it comes to dramatic silhouettes we usually only see big ball gowns and trains from Carrie on the red carpet at the CMA Awards. As I was pulling from the designers that I did have runway and lookbook images saved from I came across this white Tony Ward Fall 2017 Couture strapless draped gown which features beautiful floral embroidery and a dramatic side split. When I saw this gown it was immediately the gown that I decided that I wanted to see Carrie wearing on the red carpet. The gown is chic and feminine while still being extremely statement making. When Carrie goes for drama on the red carpet she usually makes for major moments and I think that is exactly what would happen in the case of this gown. Keeping the look glam with old Hollywood waves, kohl rimmed eyes, red lip, simple diamond drop earrings, the runways floral embroidered clutch, and a pair of red Free People ‘Disco Fever’ sandals would ensure that this is a very chic kick off to the night for Carrie. I said usually the red carpet is the only place Carrie wears dramatic gowns, that is a norm not a rule. I went to Elie Madi, one of Carrie’s favorite designers, for the perfect look to open the CMA Awards show. At last years CMA Awards Carrie wore 3 Elie Madi designs and wore him for the 2017 Grammy and CMT Music Awards. I think that wearing this red halter gown which features a ball skirt with a rise and fall hem and gorgeous crystal embellishments would be a major way to open the CMA Awards show. Simple red velvet Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ sandals, chic updo, smokey eye, and nude lip would make this gown even more dramatic.
Following a dramatic gown like that red Elie Madi gown should be something short, breezy, and dazzling. That is why I think that this long sleeve 60’s mod sequin embroidered Sherri Hill Fall 2017 RTW mini dress would be a perfect choice for Carrie. When I think of Sherri Hill I usually think of prom and pageant dresses, but I think that this mini dress is chic and I think that it would fit right in with Carrie’s love of sequins. Loose waves, smokey eye, pink lip, and silver Schutz ‘Thaynara’ pumps would keep this look chic.
Pnina Tornai is traditionally a brand that comes to mind when people think bridal not red carpet. I learned about the designer watching the bridal gown shopping show Say Yes To The Dress, and when I was looking for designers to dress Carrie I decided to give her website a visit and I saw this chic orange sexy bohemian gown I thought it would make for a majorly sexy look for Carrie, who doesn’t really do sexy all that often. I would style this look with sexy tousled waves, smokey eye, nude lip, dazzling doorknocker earrings, and a simple pair of nude Tony Bianco ‘Kiely’ sandals to ensure Carrie oozes sex appeal with this look.
Georges Chakra is a designer we used to see Carrie wear a lot, but it has been a little while since she has worn the brand. I went back to one of my favorite dresses from the designer that I am surprised hasn’t been worn. This yellow and white Georges Chakra Spring 2015 Couture strapless tea length gown which features beautiful embellishments and a sheer hem. As I have said before the sheer trend has been done to death, but this doesn’t reveal a bra or panties so I think that it would make for a very beautiful moment to let Carrie in on the trend. Adding a romantic updo, diamond drop earrings, nude lip, and a pair of white patent Manolo Blhanik ‘BB’ pumps would make this the chic modern 50’s housewife style it evokes.
Last year Carrie wore two black looks one a short beaded Elie Madi mini dress and a simple MacDuggal gown in the press room. I picked a lot of colorful looks for Carrie to wear this year, but I know at least one of her looks over the course of the evening will be black. This black Theia Fall 2017 RTW gown features a silver art deco beaded bodice, flowing skirt, and a side split is pretty standard in its style, but would make for a chic and simple break from bold statement dresses. A pair of black Giuseppe Zanotti for Jennifer Lopez ‘Coline’ suede and crystal sandals, red lip, and chic updo all would elevate this simple look.Dennis Basso isn’t a brand that I think I have ever seen Carrie wear on a red carpet before. The designer, known mostly for his furs, has beautiful cocktail dresses and gowns in his collection but often doesn’t get a whole lot of love on the red carpet. I think that this strapless turquoise, orange, and gold Dennis Basso Spring 2018 RTW mini dress which Spanish tile inspired beading would be a fun, colorful moment for Carrie to rock on the stage at the CMA Awards. I think that this dress would be further elevated with a pair of black and gold BCBGeneration ‘Jax’ cage sandals, Veronica Lake waves, a kohl rimmed eye, and nude lips.
Following that I have this black and red fully beaded Rani Zakhem Fall 2017 Couture column gown which features a plunging neckline and would bring a vampy vibe to the CMA stage for Carrie. This gown would be a chic way to do dark vampy glamour which would be a nice change of pace from all of the flirty and feminine styles that dominate this list. Simple styling with old Hollywood waves, smokey eyes, red lip, diamond drop earrings, and a pair of black Schutz ‘Cadey Lee’ sandals would make it perfection.
Carrie has worn a lot of over designed looks on the red carpet in the last year. I tried to pick looks that shunned that, but somehow when I saw this nude, white, and silver Valentin Yudashkin Couture 2017 mirror and feather embellished mini dress I couldn’t shake the idea of Carrie wearing it. The over design of this dress is what drew me to this dress for Carrie and I think that for a stage costume that it would serve the purpose of a flashy look that will hit the lights amazingly. Silver Rachel Zoe ‘Hayworth’ pointed toe ankle strap, nude lips, smokey eye, and a chic ponytail will all let the dress do all of the talking.
I think the boldest choice, color wise, I have made for Carrie to wear during her CMA Awards hosting duties is this metallic teal Rubin Singer Fall 2017 RTW strapless gown which features a pointed bustier bodice and rise and fall wrap style skirt. This color is gorgeous and I think that Carrie would wear it beautifully. This gown might be devoid of any embellishment, but I think that the shimmering fabric would definitely shine under the stage lights. Simple silver JAGGAR ‘Lane’ metallic sandals, romantic updo, smokey eye, glossy pink lip, and diamond chandelier earrings would all make this a chic statement making look.
Finishing out this set of wishes is another brand that Carrie wore last year. I would love to see Carrie give us some beautiful moment to close out the 2017 CMA with this gold asymmetrical fully beaded LaBourjoisie caftan style mini dress which features fringe hemming. This is a dazzling look and I know that Carrie would sparkle like she was touched by the hand of Midas wearing this creation. I would finish this look with loose waves, smokey eye, nude lip, and a pair of gold Jimmy Choo ‘Daize’ lace-up metallic leather booties.
I know that Carrie will deliver several flashy and fun looks over the course of the 2017 CMA Awards. Which of these looks do you want to see her add to her stage style?
