2017 amfAR Los Angeles Gala Red Carpet Wish List

This year the amfAR Los Angeles Gala is coming early. I am used to seeing the event take place in November so the date of October 13, 2017 is quite early to me. I always love a great amfAR Gala red carpet so I am really looking forward to seeing what the stars will bring to the red carpet at this years gala. Cindy Crawford is one of the glamorous co-chairs of this years amfAR Los Angeles gala. It seemed like Cindy had taken some time away from the limelight and now is back having attended several fashion shows during the course of the Spring 2018 RTW presentations. When I was picking the perfect dress for her to wear for the amfAR Gala I could have picked from the host of collections the took in from the front row. I decided to pair Cindy with one of her co-chairs and good friends Tom Ford. Cindy was beautiful in a grey sequined gown front row at Tom’s Spring 2018 RTW presentation, but there wasn’t really anything in the collection that I really wanted to see Cindy wearing on a red carpet. So I went to the online racks of NeimanMarcus.com to find the perfect look for her to wear on the red carpet. I have seen this red Tom Ford velvet buster, draped silk gown for a while now and I thought that it would be a very fitting, elegant, and glamorous moment on Cindy. I would imagine that Cindy will wear something from Tom, maybe a custom gown or a gown that wasn’t presented on the runway but will hit virtual shelves later this year or next. I think that this gown would be a totally glamorous moment and one that would definitely stand out against the standard black step and repeat of the amfAR Los Angeles gala. With a red Edie Parker ‘Jean’ solid acrylic clutch, black Tom Ford platform sandals with a gold ankle lock, and jewels from one of the gala’s presenting sponsors including a pair of ruby and diamond cluster earrings and matching cuff bracelet Cindy will totally own the red carpet at this years gala.Coco Rocha is a frequent guest at amfAR Gala’s so when I saw that Jean Paul Gaultier was on the list of co-chairs for this years gala I thought that she would be the perfect person to either represent the designer or walk the red carpet with the designer. Coco and John are quite close and she is almost always in his runway shows and has worn several of his designs on the red carpet. I think that this black and red geometric Jean Paul Gaultier Fall 2016 Couture strapless structured cocktail dress would be a perfect look for Coco to wear to represent the brand on the amfAR Gala red carpet. Usually at the Los Angeles gala we see stars go a little more simple cocktail or standard evening gown compared to the likes of the New York or Cannes galas. This dress is just avant garde enough, but still simple to fit right in. I think that adding a sleek hairstyle, smokey eye, nude lip, red Giuseppe Zanotti three-strap sandals, and a pair of dazzling Harry Winston diamond ear clips would all ensure that this is a beautiful moment for Coco.Fergie will be providing entertainment at this years amfAR Los Angeles Gala and I am really excited to see what she has in store for us. She has reemerged recently after the announcement of her divorce and that she was leaving the Black Eyed Peas for good and has been delivering really great looks. She has worn a lot of black on the red carpet, but I wanted to infuse some color into her wardrobe for this years amfAR Los Angeles gala. Usually the step and repeat for the amfAR LA gala is black so I wanted to pick something that would pop. I think that Fergie would definitely stand out wearing this electric blue Zac Posen ottoman jersey fishtail gown which features a sweetheart neckline on the red carpet. I think that Fergie would definitely be a perfect person to help represent designer and gala co-chair Zac Posen on this red carpet. This gown would hug her curves and really ensure that she delivers a truly glamorous moment on the amfAR red carpet. With a vintage inspired updo, smokey eye, red lip, silver Giuseppe Zanotti ‘Coline’ crystal embellished sandals, and Harry Winston diamonds including a pair of chandelier earrings and a fringe cuff I know that Fergie would shut the red carpet down. Gwyneth Paltrow doesn’t usually step out for many events but the amfAR Gala in Los Angeles is one red carpet that I am used to seeing Gwyneth walk. She is one of the co-chairs of this years gala and I am hoping that she steps out in all her Goop fabulosity. Thee are a lot of designers on the list of co-chairs for this years gala so I decided to pair Gwynie up with personal pal and fellow co-chair Michael Kors for this years red carpet. I think that Gwyneth would look so incredibly chic wearing this silver leaf paillette Michael Kors Spring 2018 RTW cocktail dress which features long sleeves, asymmetrical ruffled hem, and is embellished throughout. Michael has went from really bold glamour for his 2017 collections to a much more relaxed vibe for his 2018 collections so far. I think that the short dress is fitting for this red carpet, but if Gwyneth wants to go more the gown route I think that it could be lengthened to a gorgeous gown with just a bit of a train. Silver Schutz ‘Ilara’ sandals, sleek center parted hair, fresh faced makeup, glossy nude lips, and a pair of  statement diamond, turquoise, & sapphire Harry Winston drop earrings would add the perfect finishing touches to this look.Joan Smalls is another frequent flier at the different international amfAR Gala’s. She was gorgeous earlier this year wearing an Elie Saab Couture cocktail dress for the amfAR Gala in Cannes. She is not on the list of co-chairs, but I thought she would be the perfect person to represent designer Jeremy Scott on the red carpet. I am sure that Jeremy himself will take to the red carpet and I am sure that one of his supermodel friends will walk the red carpet arm in with him. I know that when it comes to the crazy, avant garde gowns that Jeremy shows as the creative director for Moschino usually end up being saved for editorial and not see the light of a red carpet, but there are some of the gorgeous floral inspired gowns from the Moschino Spring 2018 RTW collection that I really want to see on a red carpet. This pink orchid inspired gown (which does liken to tie-dye) is one of the more tame looks that we could see on a red carpet. I think that someone with the dramatic presence that Joan has would definitely be the person who could really make this look come to life on the red carpet. A gown like this has the potential to wear the wearer, but I think that Joan has the diva presence to push through the gown and really make it a major moment on the red carpet. Since the gown is such a statement I would keep the styling simple with a sleek ponytail, smokey eye, glossy lips, a pair of black Oscar Tiye ‘Malikah’ sandals, Harry Winston diamond and pink sapphire drop earrings, and a statement Harry Winston bracelet to really let the gown be the focus of this look. Julia Roberts is being honored at this years amfAR Los Angeles Gala and I am intrigued to see what she will wear on the red carpet. I went to gala co-chair Zac Posen to find a look that I think Julia would definitely be comfortable wearing on the red carpet. That is the key to a red carpet look for Julia. She wants to be comfortable. I think that she would look effortlessly chic on the red carpet at the amfAR Los Angeles Gala wearing this Zac Posen Spring 2018 RTW ensemble which features a white long sleeve blouse with a flared cuff and a seafoam green ankle length 3D floral embroidered skirt. The look screams effortless glamour and I think that would definitely appeal to Julia and her sense of style. I think that with a pair of nude peep toe Christian Louboutin ‘New Very Prive’ patent leather pumps, loose waves, smokey eye, pink lip, and a pair of vintage Harry Winston diamond and emerald cluster earrings would ensure that Julia definitely has a very beautiful moment on the red carpet for her big night.
