Before I delve into my next set of film festival wishes I wanted to take a quick break for the annual New York City Ballet Fall Gala. The NYC Ballet’s Fall Gala is always a star studded event. We always see muses of the designers who design the costumes for the benefit on the red carpet. This year Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim of Monse and Oscar de la Renta, Jonathan Saunders of Diane von Furstenberg, Tsumori Chisato, and Virgil Abloh of Off/White are designing the costumes this year. Monse, Oscar, DVF, and Off/White have all had amazing success this year. We have seen the a-list of the worlds of music, film, and television as guest in previous years so I am excited to see who they will all bring as their dates for the gala this year. Diane Kruger has attended the New York City Ballet’s Fall Gala in the past, in fact last year she wore a gorgeous Giambattista Valli Couture cocktail dress that was the talk of the town for days. After walking the red carpet earlier this year with Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim at the CFDA Awards wearing Monse earlier this year I went back to my favorite lady to be their guest wearing Monse again. It has been 10 days since the Monse Spring 2018 RTW collection was presented and I have already featured this midnight blue sequin strapless gown which features white star detail and car wash pleats three times on this blog. First in an Emmy Awards wish for Kristen Wiig then again in my 20 Must See Looks from NYFW list and now here for Diane to wear at the NYC Ballet Fall Gala. Any of the ladies that I have mentioned could definitely make this gown work on a red carpet, but Diane with her edgy diva attitude would definitely shut it down on this red carpet. Sleek hair, a navy blue smokey eye, nude lip, sleek diamond drop earrings, a white Edie Parker ‘Jean’ marbled acrylic strawberry clutch, and a pair of black suede Steve Madden ‘Diva’ pumps would add the perfect finishing touches to this look for Diane.Jennifer Hudson was a guest of Prabal Gurung two years ago at the NYC Ballet Fall gala and when I saw that Virgil Abloh of Off/White was designing costumes this year I thought that Jennifer would be the perfect person to represent the brand on the red carpet. I would imagine that whatever Jennifer would for the red carpet at the NYC Ballet from Off/White that it would most likely be custom. I would love to see Virgil take this magenta draped sleeveless tunic from the Off/White Resort 2018 collection and morph it into a dramatic yet simple evening gown which features a column silhouette and a long dramatic train. I think that this would be the perfect look for both Jennifer and Off/White. With her pixie cut styled punky, a smoky eye, berry lip, a diamond earcuff, statement diamond cuff bracelet, and a pair of black Off/White bow strap sandals Jennifer would have the perfect look that meshes edge and glamour.Manhattan socialite Olivia Palermo has some of my favorite personal style. I don’t usually feature socialites or reality stars on this blog, but Olivia is one that I always look forward to seeing on a red carpet. This wouldn’t be Olivia’s first gala having been a guest of Dior and Valentino in the past. I am hoping that with Diane von Furstenberg designer Jonathan Saunders creating costumes for this years gala that she will be a guest of the brand. I would love to see her snatch this hot off the runway pistachio green Diane von Furstenberg Spring 2018 RTW silk draped midi gown which is trimmed in fringe and features long sleeves and a v-neckline. The dress screams the bohemian, effortless glamour that we are used to seeing from Olivia on the red carpet. Olivia is known for her accessories and I have a few really great pieces that I want to see her pair with this dress including a black, green, and gold Rafe ‘Ramya’ cubist minaudiere and a pair of nude suede Aquazzura ‘Christy’ studded lace-up pumps to amp this look up even more. A loose romantic updo, smokey eye, and a glossy pink lip would add the perfect finishing touches to this effortless moment.Sarah Jessica Parker is one of the event chairs this year and it comes as no surprise since she is a guest almost every single year. In past years we have seen SJP wearing Narciso Rodriguez, Zuhair Murad, Mary Katrantzou, Prabal Gurung & Olivier Theyskens, and Valentino Couture for her turns on the NYC Ballet Fall Gala red carpet. I would totally expect that this year that Sarah will turn to one of her favorite labels Oscar de la Renta for her major moment on the red carpet. Sarah has worn Oscar several times in the past and is also good friends with Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim. I always thought that Sarah would look beautiful in this black and white Oscar de la Renta Resort 2018 floral embroidered tulle gown which features a square neckline with corded straps, an empire waistline, and a full length a-line skirt and I think that the NYC Ballet Fall Gala red carpet would be the perfect place for her to bring this gown to life. The styling has been the killer of many of Sarah’s red carpet moments lately so I would add a dramatic bun, smokey eye, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of black Christian Louboutin ‘Acide’ lace tulle ankle strap mules to ensure that this look exudes nothing but glamour.
