My wishes for the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival are coming to the end. This is my final set of wishes for this years festival. The gowns that are coming out of Venice are definitely a force. I have said to myself several times that stars are totally killing it this year with their sartorial choices and it is resulting in the best year of red carpet looks ever. Choosing my best dressed of the year list gets harder and harder as the weeks go by. I am hoping that all of the attendees at this years Toronto International Film Festival bring as much to the red carpets that the stars in Venice have. Brie Larson will be making her feature length directorial debut at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival with the special presentation screening of Unicorn Story. I had a really hard time picking the perfect look for Brie to wear for this red carpet. I actually resorted to asking a friend of mine what designer I should pick and when she said I should look at No. 21 and I took her advice and ran with it. I would feel like this powder blue No. 21 Fall 2017 RTW draped chiffon cocktail dress which features floral embroidery at the strap, a plunging neckline, defined waist, a defined waist, and flowing skirt would be made totally perfect for Brie on the TIFF red carpet if she had it modified to be a gown with a full length skirt. This could be a totally glamorous and elegant moment on the red carpet and I think that Brie, who seems to have lost her mojo as of late, would be on top of her game again. Adding a romantic updo, smokey eye, nude lip, a silver air Judith Leiber faceted box clutch, diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of navy Jimmy Choo ‘Lana’ sandals would add the perfect details that would ensure that Brie is back at her best. Chloe Sevingy started her promo tour for Lean on Pete this past Friday in Venice wearing Miu Miu looks for both the films photocall and premiere. I loved both of Chloe’s red carpet moments in Venice, but I want to see her branch out into some of her other favorite brands. I fell in love with the idea of Chloe wearing this bright red sheer Givenchy Fall 2017 RTW long sleeve gowns which features ruffles and beading and I think that a TIFF premiere would be the perfect place to make this wish come true. I feel like that since the dress is so dramatic that I think a sleek bun, lined eye, red lip, and a pair of matching red Givenchy ‘Shark Lock’ sandals would ensure that it would be perfection. My Days of Mercy is the second film that Kate Mara will be presenting as a gala during the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival. I would think that for a gala premiere that I would have been searching for a gown for Kate to wear, but after the Dior dress I already picked for her to wear I fell in love with this abyss blue Elie Saab Fall 2017 RTW lace and tulle mini dress which features a round neckline, full length sleeves, and a short A-line skirt. The dress screams modern glamour and I think that it would fully put Kate back as one of my girl crushes. Styling this look with a sleek updo, smokey eye, blue Bottega Veneta woven clutch, nude lip, sapphire cluster earrings, and a pair of blue crystal embellished heel Schutz ‘Hara’ sandals would add the perfect finishing touches to this ensemble. On the final announcement of the selection of this years festival it was announced that that the Lady Gaga documentary Gaga: Five Foot Two would be screening at the festival and that she would be performing at the films party. Gaga has definitely lived up to the expectations of film and television red carpets so I am very interested in seeing what she will bring to her first Toronto International Film Festival. For the red carpet of the premiere I would love to see Gaga go for couture glamour with this black tulle textured Ralph & Russo Fall 2017 Couture gown. The gown is dramatically glamorous and I think that if anyone could give us this moment at the Toronto International Film Festival it would be Gaga. This is a much more dramatic look than any of the others that I have wished for, but Gaga knows how to do extra on a red carpet and just make it work. It is almost expected. All I would add to this look is a vintage inspired updo, black Saint Laurent strappy platform sandals, diamond cluster earrings, and a red lip.And last but not least is Saoirse Ronan who is presenting her film On Chesil Beach as a special presentation at this years festival. It has pretty much been since the Met Gala last year that we have seen Saoirse on the red carpet following her awards season run last year. I went through several of Saoirse’s favorite designers runway collections to find the perfect dress for her to wear for her premiere. I wasn’t impressed, so I went to the online racks of the best retailers. I saw this black Stella McCartney fringe trimmed dress and it clicked immediately for me. I really didn’t want to pick another black dress for Saoirse, but it just seemed to be the perfect fit for this occasion. I added a bit of color and sparkle to this look via a pair of peacock glitter Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ pumps. A sleek bun, smokey eye, red lip, simple black box clutch, and diamond cluster earrings would make this black dress anything but basic.
The 2017 Toronto International Film Festival opens September 7, 2017 and runs through September 16, 2017.
