Like the Cannes Film Festival we will see many sidebar events taking place from the main competition at the 2017 Venice Film Festival. Venice has several officially sidebar competitions from its main competition, the film Woodshock directed by Kate & Laura Mulleavy (the sister design duo behind Rodarte) will be screening in the festivals Cinema nel Giardino section. This section delivers free public screenings of more artistic films and I can honestly say that I haven’t been able to find any big film stars that have ever screened a film of theirs in this selection. Kirsten Dunst, a muse of the Mulleavy sister in both fashion and now film, is the star of Woodshock and I am starting to wonder what it is that she will bring to the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival this year. If the film is screening in a free, outdoor public venue will she deliver two gorgeous causal/cocktail looks or will she give us a major gown moment on the red carpet. I did stick to Rodarte for Kirsten to wear while promoting Woodshock in Venice. For the films photocall I went chic and feminine with this soft yellow Rodarte Spring 2018 RTW floral tulle midi dress which features a Chantilly lace construction and an iridescent embellishment design. I think that this dress is dramatic yet soft and I think that the soft yellow color of it would look absolutely beautiful against Kirsten’s pale peachy skin tone. A braided updo, lined eye, nude lip, and a pair of gold Manolo Blhanik ‘Allura’ metallic leather slingback pumps would make this this look incredibly chic for Kirsten to wear for a Venice photocall. Now to be honest for an outdoor screening Kirsten could take that yellow lace dress and walk it from the photocall to the premiere. I don’t know if Kirsten will walk the main Venice Film Festival red carpet on the Lido, but I am really hoping that does happen. I would imagine that Kate and Laura Mulleavy will create a custom gown for Kirsten to wear for this red carpet (as they have many times in the past) but I would also love to see her wearing this white Rodarte Spring 2018 RTW tulle lace floral gown which features a hand embroidered design of black flat flowers and fuchsia 3D florals, cap sleeves, column silhouette, flared hem, and a delicate lace construction. The Rodarte Spring 2018 RTW finale gowns are dreams and I cannot wait to see each of them on the red carpet and a platform like the red carpet at the Venice Film Festival will ensure that this gown is given the major moment on the red carpet. I would let the gown be the focus of this look just adding a pair of simple black velvet Gianvito Rossi ‘Portofino’ sandals, diamond cluster earrings, lined eye, romantic updo, and a red lip to really let the gown sing it’s own praises.
The 2017 Venice Film Festival opens on August 30, 2017 and runs through September 9, 2017
