2017 Venice Film Festival: “Suburbicon” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The Venice Film Festival is the last film festival of the year where major couture moments are likely to be seen on the red carpet. While stars will wear couture for Toronto and maybe for London, Venice is the last major platform for big skirts and long trains that we have from a film festival. So many amazing stars are set to walk the red carpet in Venice I think that we will get a few contenders for Best Dressed of the Year. The Suburbicon premiere is definitely a contender to be one of the best dressed premieres of the festival.Julianne Moore has the potential to really deliver amazing looks on the red carpet. Regular readers of this blog knows that I am a die hard Julianne Moore fan when it comes to both her acting and her red carpet dressing. Now I won’t say that she can do no wrong because the cream smock dress that she wore at the Giffoni Film Festival last month was just terrible. I hope that having a film in competition in Venice, that is garnering awards season buzz already, will ensure that Julianne is on top form when she steps onto the red carpets at the festival. Julianne does love a more shapeless shift dress for her more casual red carpet appearances, so I decided to give her an elevated version of that with this black, white, and red Oscar de la Renta Resort 2018 houndstooth plaid tweed shift dress which features a raw frayed trim at the neck, sleeves, and hem. The dress is simple in the shape but statement making with the bold tweed paid. I don’t expect anyone to wear couture for a photocall, even if I may wish for it, and I think that this dress is keeping it chic and cool for Julianne. Simple waves, a smokey eye, nude lip, and a pair of red Gianvito Rossi scalloped suede ankle wrap pumps would style this look perfectly for a photocall. For the premiere I had to give some couture. Julianne loves herself a Chanel Couture moment. I went back and forth on so many Chanel gowns and tried to decide if a tea length gown would be appropriate. I think that this major 50’s moment with this strapless white Chanel Spring 2017 Couture tea length gown which features a full skirt, black lace shawl, and a big black patent leather belt would be absolutely beautiful on Julianne. This is a very different look for Julianne, but I think that she has the elegance and presence to really make this look work on the red carpet. I want to see Julianne go full 50’s housewife on the red carpet with a chic beehive hairstyle, smokey eye, red lip, emerald cluster earrings, and a pair of white Jimmy Choo ‘Abel’ crystal embellished pointed toe pumps to make this a totally amazing moment.I am really excited to see what Julianne wears while promoting Suburbicon in Venice, I am like sitting on the edge of my seat about what Amal Clooney will wear. Amal is always a perfect plus one and I cannot wait to see what she will support George in his first directorial film in which he is not a star. There were so many gowns on the runway at the Ralph & Russo Fall 2017 Couture presentation that I can see Amal wearing on the red carpet and I think that the Venice Film Festival is a perfect platform bring one of them to life on the red carpet. This beautiful grey chainmail and chiffon Ralph & Russo Fall 2017 Couture gown meshes body armor and Grecian goddess in the most glamorous way possible. I can just picture the statuesque Amal looking absolutely stunning on the red carpet this creation. The gown is stunning, and it would be the perfect plus one look. A grey Edie Parker ‘Wolf’ acrylic clutch, old Hollywood waves, vintage Fred Leighton dangle earrings, and a pair of grey Christian Louboutin ‘Torsatoe’ scallop platform peep toe pumps would ensure that Amal is total perfection on the Venice Film Festival red carpet.

The 2017 Venice Film Festival opens August 30, 2017 and runs through September 9, 2017.
