2017 Venice Film Festival: “Our Souls at Night” Premiere Red Carpet Wish List

The 2017 Venice Film Festival is getting closer and I am getting really excited as to what I am going to see from all of the stars over the course of the festival. It was actually just yesterday that I saw that Jane Fonda’s stylist Tanya Gill was in Hollywood fitting Jane for her looks to wear during Venice. Jane’s film Our Souls at Night with Robert Redford is screening at the festival and Jane and Robert are being honored with the Golden Lion (the prize at the Venice Film Festival) lifetime achievement award. I think that since Jane is being honored on the same night as her premiere that we will see absolutely amazing moments from her on the red carpet. For the films photocall I went to a new brand for Jane with this Louis Vuitton Cruise 2018 plaid suit. This look screams 70’s glamour and I can totally seeing it turn into an absolutely major moment on the stage at the photocall. The yellow and black graphic sweater that the suit was paired with on the runway is cool and all, but I want to see Jane pair this suit with a crisp white button down shirt, a pair of light brown snakeskin Christian Louboutin ‘Escarpic Spike’ pointed toe pumps covered in spike studs, a nude lip and Jane’s signature flipped out hairstyle to really make this a perfect photocall look. For the premiere I am already feeling like Jane is going to go for the wow factor in a custom gown. If I had to place bets on who is designing the gown I would put almost all my money on it being a Versace design. I was looking at all the recent collections trying to decide what the gown would look like. I have this inclination that it will be inspired by the metallic golds and bronzes from the Atelier Versace Fall 2017 Couture collection, but there just wasn’t anything that I could see Jane modifying to work for her. I could totally see Donatella modifying this smokey purple/grey Atelier Versace Spring 2017 Couture fully embellished column gown to have long sleeves (a must for Jane’s style) and maybe a dramatic train either a pooling continuation of the gowns embellishments or a chiffon train from the waist. Anyway Jane wears it be it column, pooling train, or dramatic chiffon train I know that she would just radiate sexy glamour, which is what I expect from Mrs. Fonda. Styling the look with a red lip, grey satin clutch, smokey eyes, her signature hairdo, diamond drop earrings, and a pair of grey Rene Caovilla crystal ankle wrap pumps would make sure that all eyes are on the gorgeous actress on this red carpet. I think that over the course of the festival that we will see Annette Bening bring pants to the red carpet. I know I want to see Annette deliver great gowns on the red carpets in Venice, but pants can get really glam. I think that if Annette stepped out on the red carpet wearing this black and gold J. Mendel Resort 2018 ensemble which gives the most elevated version of the pajama tend. With the metallic bell sleeve top and wide leg pants covered in absolutely beautiful embroidery this look would be a great look worthy of the Venice Film Festival red carpet. A red lip and a pair of black Roger Vivier ‘Isadora’ embellished buckle suede low heel pumps would add the perfect finishing touches Jury member and Chanel muse Anna Mouglalis was seated front row at the Chanel Fall 2107 Couture presentation during Paris Fashion Week last month. I don’t know if she knew yet that she was going to be on, or potentially on, jury duty in Venice yet, but I am sure that when the news that she had been selected for the main competition jury that she started calling in her favorite looks from the show to wear on the red carpet. There are definitely a few looks from the Chanel Fall 2017 Couture collection that I would love to see Anna wearing on the red carpet in Venice and I think that for a gala screening that this midi gown with a blue, cream, and green abstract embroidered bodice with puffy sleeves and peplum and a full tulle ballerina skirt would be absolute perfection. I know that that with a chic updo, smokey eye, rose pink lips, and a pair of black Jimmy Choo ‘Romy’ rainbow glitter pumps that this look would be total perfection. As I have said I have really high expectations for Rebecca Hall over the course of the 2017 Venice Film Festival. Since we know that Anna will just wear Chanel and I think Annette will wear pretty things, but noting that will wow me. So I am relying on Rebecca to bring the major moments from the jury on red carpet. I think I would squeal with delight if Rebecca stepped out on the Venice Film Festival red carpet wearing this yellow and purple hand embroidered lace Giambattista Valli Spring 2017 Couture long sleeve ball gown. I have loved this gown since it first walked the runway, but I haven’t seen the perfect person to wear it. Until now. This gown is the true glamour of the late 1950’s and the early 1960’s and I think that Rebecca will make it a truly major moment on the red carpet. I cannot decide if I want to see Rebecca style her hair in like a sleek ponytail, a simple chignon, or a bold 60’s style updo. I do want to see her accessorize the look with a pink lip, winged eye, yellow diamond cluster earrings, and a pair of nude Christian Louboutin ‘Hot Spring Butterfly’ lace sling back peep toe pumps to really make this look perfection.

The 2017 Venice Film Festival opens on August 30, 2017 and runs through September 9, 2017.
