Rodarte Spring 2018 RTW: The Glamour Gardens of Paris

Yesterday I talked about how switching things up and showing in Paris over New York Fashion Week did Proenza Schouler good. The Mulleavy sisters also jumped ship and showcased their Spring 2018 RTW collection for Rodarte in the French fashion capitol. I have long thought that Rodarte was one of the New York based brands that just didn’t quite fit in with the rest of the New York Fashion Week crowd and I think they found a new home with Paris. A garden in a cloister was the backdrop for a collection that just blossomed into one of the most beautiful collection that the design duo has put out in recent years. The 1977 Robert Altman film 3 Women was the jumping point at which Kate and Laura Mulleavy used as the inspiration on which they created their Spring 2018 RTW collection. The inspiration was heavily seen in the color palate of the collection which weighed heavily on pastel yellow, pinks, and blue with pops of vibrant red and yellow. Rodarte is known as the cool girls bohemian glamour brand and each of these looks really just accentuated that. The collection was mostly comprised of cocktail and evening looks, that are surely going to be the toast of red carpets around the world. We also saw some killer separates and some amazing feathered coats that I believe we will see on the backs of street style mavens as they jet from fashion show to fashion show in September.  Over the last year we have seen a lot more Rodarte on the red carpet and I think that with this debut in Paris that we will continue to see the label on the red carpet. Brie Larson, Trace Ellis Ross, and Kirsten Dunst were all seated front row at this presentation looking for their next red carpet looks. I think that there is at least one look for each of them within the ranks of this collection. I was most taken with red poppy feathered gown that closed the show and I think that Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman, or Natalie Portman need to snatch this gown up for the red carpet. FKA Twigs, Keira Knightley, Alicia Vikander, Rita Ora, Naomie Harris, Sarah Paulson, Rowan Blanchard, Riley Keough, Yara Shahidi, Elle Fanning, Zoey Deutch, Kate Bosworth, Julianne Moore, Florence Welch, Anne Hathaway, Chloe Sevigny, Zoe Saldana, Rihanna, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Kate Beckinsale, and Zoe Kravitz all would wear this collection beautifully.
