The runways of New York Fashion week this September will be missing a few major players. Several designers wanted to move their shows to Paris to expand their international reach. The Proenza Schouler boys Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez are among that group. The designers opted, like several of their CFDA colleagues opting to show their Spring 2018 RTW collections in Paris, to show the collection during Haute Couture week instead of the traditional RTW week in Paris in late September. Paris seemed to do Proenza Schouler really well. The label showed in the cloisters at the Collège-lycée Jacques-Decour and it was a stark contrast to the much edgier designs that were presented. The collection was mostly black and white with hints of ivory, red, pale pink, blue, and lavender. Those pops of color were perfect to not make all of the black and white seem static and stale. When it came to the style of looks that were presented it was a mix of deconstructed cocktail and evening gowns as well as day wear that just breathed a fresh, modern take on classic glamour. There are a lot of potential red carpet moments in this collection and I am sure that we will see a lot of it on the red carpet. My favorite look from the collection, and the piece I HAVE to see on the red carpet, is the white feathered and sequined cocktail dress with black straps and I think that Kate Bosworth is the perfect person to really own this dress on the red carpet. Other stars that I want to see rocking this collection on this red carpet include Amy Adams, Sienna Miller, Zoe Kravitz, Lea Seydoux, Marion Cotillard, Keira Knightley, Lily James, Zoe Saldana, Rita Ora, Nicole Kidman, Kate Beckinsale, Uma Thurman, Gwendoline Christie, Kate Hudson, Julianne Moore, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, Priyanka Chopra, Jennifer Lawrence, Naomie Harris, Taylor Swift, Karolina Kurkova, Bella Hadid, Lupita Nyong’o, and Daisy Ridley. I have been posting my favorite looks from the current Paris Haute Couture Fashion Week on Red Carpet Fashion Awards. You can see some of the wishes I have for this collection there.
