One of the most anticipated debuts during Paris Fashion Week was the launch of Peter Dundas eponymous collection, and it was well worth the wait. Dundas is a veteran of brands that champion bohemian glamour like Emilio Pucci and Robert Cavalli and that seems to be his personal aesthetic as the looks from his debut Resort 2018 collection all would have fit in with the designers collections for either of those two labels. Drama, luxury, red carpet, sexuality, and regality all flowed from one look to the next and will definitely see itself on the red carpets over the coming months. The Dundas show did not features a star studded front row, like many of the shows during Paris Fashion Week have seen, but instead held a cast of Peter’s favorite celebrities, the supermodel. Yasmin Wijnaldum, Georgia May Jagger, Caroline Winberg, Lily Donaldson, Sara Sampaio, Stella Maxwell, Sasha Luss, Daria Strokous, Aymeline Valade, Vanessa Moody all stormed the runway for the Dundas debut with close friend and muse Natasha Poly closing the show. It is definitely about the clothes on the runway for this show and less about the star power seated front row. I save pictures from all of the collections in folders that make it easy to plan my wish lists. There were 28 looks on the runway and I saved images of 22 of those looks. I see that as a collection with some major red carpet potential, which is where Dundas shines. We learned that Peter was going to be launching his label when he designed Beyonce’s two custom looks at the 2017 Grammy Awards earlier this year and then he continued to build buzz creating a custom jumpsuit gown for Emily Ratajkowski to wear on the red carpet at Cannes. While Emily’s red carpet look was definitely far from a favorite all of Beyonce’s gowns were magic. This collection was magic. I found it really hard to pick a single look to single out as my favorite from this collection. I think that it was the black long sleeve sheer lace mini dress wrapped in a lime green silk train that would really make for a stand out red carpet moment. I think that someone like Bella Hadid or Ciara would definitely give that look a turn on the red carpet at an event like the MTV Video Music Awards or the American Music Awards. In addition to Ciara and Bella some of the other stars I can see bringing this collection to life on a red carpet include Fergie, Zendaya, Julianne Moore, Celine Dion, Halsey, Jourdan Dunn, Kendall Jenner, Rihanna, Lea Michele, Rita Ora, Juliette Binoche, Emilia Clarke, Kim Kardashian West, Naomi Campbell, Pixie Lott, Elizabeth Banks, Diane Kruger, Taylor Swift, Gigi Hadid, Lady Gaga, Kate Hudson, Zoe Kravitz, Jennifer Lopez, Miley Cyrus, Natasha Poly, Joan Smalls, Amber Heard, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley.
